According to him, their major challenge they were facing is the issue of fake insurance stickers in the system. But with these, Insurance Motor Database (MID), it helps the NIC to sit in their office to know the insurance stickers they have issued in Ghana.

“Now the customers have seen that if they do their insurance in Ghana, instantly that person will see that we have given him or her a genuine sticker. Before you will do the insurance we take your personal details, so after we are done, the system will send you text message on your phone to know the specific amount of money you paid for your insurance whether is third party, comprehensive or the third party fire and theft insurance” he explained.

“This is also helping the National Insurance Commission to monitor whether we ( the insurance companies) are charging the right premium. In fact it has helped sanitize the system” he praises.

The NIC is saying that if you have done insurance and you want to find out whether its in the system, kindly use the short code * 920*57# this will ask for your car registration number just fix it in and it will give you the information for you to know that your insurance policy is active.

Dr. Ebenezer Armah revealed, very soon police won’t stops drivers regularly to check their insurance. They will be having a machine to point at the car number plates to find out whether your car have genuine insurance or not.

He indicated, they are going digital so from February 2020 till date, anybody who has done insurance and the insurance company issued a manual sticker to you such sticker is fake, because the manual insurance sticker is now thine of the past.
