My First Day At School: Parents Commended For Sending Their Wards To School

Many parents across the length and breath of the country has today sent their kids who are at age 3 and above to Kindergarten one and (KG1) as today marks the “My First Day at School” to have early childhood education.

As a result of these, the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly Coordinating Director in the Eastern Region, Mrs. Ruth Woode has commended parents who sent their wards to school even, amidst the global pandemic coronavirus.

“I believe the kids will learn very hard and the teachers are also ready to teach them” she said.

Mrs. Woode underscore that should the seniors in school adhere to the covid protocols, the kids been the Junior’s will also imitate them and follow their steps.

Mrs. Ruth Woode mention these to KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH of Kingdom FM, during the embarkment on a day tour to some of the Kindergarten schools in the Municipality to encourage and welcome the fresh students to the schools.

Some of the visited schools include, Anyinasin Presby KG, Methodist KG, Old Tafo Presby KG, Sokode Juaso M/A KG, Kukurantumi Presby KG, Kukurantumi R/C Sacred Heart KG, New Tafo Presby KG, Kukurantumi Islamic KG and among others.

Following this, the Municipal Assembly together with the lawmaker of the Constituency and former Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutions (TVET), Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo donates soft drinks, biscuits, drinking cups and learning materials to these fresh KG1 students.

In appreciation, Mrs. Woode thanked the Honourable MP, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo for her kind gesture to the kids.

She again noted that, since their entourage identified some challenges facing the various visited schools, the Assembly will address it as soon as possible to ensure teaching and learning runs smoothly.

Furthermore, the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly Education Director, Mrs. Abena Gyamerah also expressed her excitement about the turnout of the KG1 kids whose parents sent them to the various schools and to have their name registered.

She said, many people are of the view that because of the covid parents wouldn’t send their kids to school but the number of the KG1 students whom she saw on the day in the various schools were very shocking and amazed.

Mrs. Abena Gyamerah thereafter advised parents, guidance and other parental bodies to shift their focus on their children and make sure they are been masked before and after school hours to prevent them from contacting the coronavirus disease. Assuring that; “our teachers will also take good care of the school children”.

Entourage that joined the tour trip included; Municipal NADMO Director, Mr. Steven Osei Owusu, the Municipal National Service Director, Mr. Maxwell Oppong Kyekyeku and other Departmental Heads from the Assembly and the media.
