The Chairman for NPP in the Abuakwa North Constituency of Eastern Region, Mr. Douglas Asare popularly known as Iron has expressed worried as to why the infected coronavirus disease MPs are still going to Parliament instead of them to stay at home for a treatment.
He indicated that, the MPs meant to enact laws and understand it better than all, are rather abusing it since they still go to parliament as Covid-19 positive. Thus labelling them as “bad leaders”.
A situation he compared to a “prostitute” who have HIV AIDs and yet still want to spread it with its client or customers to become like him or her noting it as very disturbing.
Mr. Douglas Asare added, the MPs must know better since they are role models to many. Again he admonised them to do the needful and isolate themselves from the parliament including their families not to infect them as well.
He made these known to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH in an interview.
However, he pleaded on the said affected Lawmakers to stay and seek for medication to treat themselves before resuming duty in the house.
He further recalled how President Nana Addo isolated himself for 14 days after he became suspicious of contracting the novel disease.
“If the whole Prez of the Republic has isolated himself for 14 days, how much more you being an MP. You don’t have to be bashful to stay away from the parliament proceedings if you have tested positive for the covid-19”
Mr. Asare then noted how alarming the situation of the pandemic has been of late, hence advised constituents not to have direct dialogue with their MPs, and urged them to opt phone-in conversation when the need arises.
To conclude with, he said as a constituency party chairman he is mothballing party meetings to avoid the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
