Abuakwa North: ” Refuse Passengers Without Face Mask”—-NCCE To Drivers

As confirmed by the municipal health directorate of Abuakwa North, seven (7) positive COVID 19 positive cases with one (1) recovery and no deaths, leaving six (6) active cases as at January 2021.

In view of this, the National Commission For Civic Education (NCCE) Abuakwa North has collaborated with the municipal assembly to intensified the education on the safety protocols of the deadly pandemic.

On Sunday 7th February, 2021 at the New Tafo-Akim main lorry station, Mrs Beatrice Opoku Budu, Senior Civic Officer, encouraged drivers to use sanitizers on their car doors and frequently on their hands as much as possible because of the day to day interactions with the general public.

She further admonished the drivers to wash their hands with soap under running water as at when there is availability of water in their line of duty to help control the spread of the virus.

Mrs Beatrice Opoku Budu however emphasized that, drivers must wear face mask at all times, and should make it a strong policy for passengers to wear them, if not they(drivers) should not render services to those passengers as they are all at risk.

The municipal assembly, on their part presented two(2) veronica buckets, two (2) boxes of hand sanitizers, two hundred (200) face masks and hundred (100) face shields to the driver unions.

Mr Henry Fayoga, receiving the items on behalf of the driver unions, thanked the NCCE and the municipal assembly for the education and the donation.
He added that, they(drivers) will do their part in ensuring the enforcement of the safety protocols as enrolled by government to help curb the pandemic.

Present at the engagement were, Sup. Isaac Ampofo, Municipal Police Commander, ASP Fred Kpetigo, Municipal Police Crime Officer, Chief Insp. Obeng, Mrs Rebecca Dede Bantey, Ag. health director of Abuakwa North, staff of NCCE, Driver unions, Hon Agyeman Afari William, Mangoase Assemblyman, the general public and the press.
