
Paa Kofi Ansong has been overwhelmingly elected as the new eastern regional council of state member.
The election of the council of state membership took place at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC)
A total of 66 delegates participated in this elections which comprises of 33 Municipal and District Chief Executives and 33 Presiding Members from all the 33 Assemblies of the region.
The contestants were as follows:
Paa Kofi Ansong
Amemakuse Ernest Mawufemor, and
James Amanor Ossom.
In the end of the election, Paa Kofi Ansong had 66 out of the 66 total votes cast which constitute 100% win for him.
Addressing the media after the election, Mr. Kofi Ansong said, he is happy to be elected as the council of state member to represent the region.
He stressed, going to advice the Prez is not easy at all and if you don’t do well and after the general elections there is so many problems then you won’t have peace of mind to advice the Prez.
Mr. Paa Kofi Ansong added that, the job of council of state is to advice the Prez, Ministers of state and any other appointment. We do a lot of appointment and we will definitely advice the Prez to go for the right people to be work with.
He then promised to do his possible best to help other regions to developed.
However, disappointed aspirants, Mr. Amemakuse Ernest Mawufemor accepted his defeat and indicated that the elections went on smoothly.
He again assures of ralling his support behind Mr. Paa Kofi Ansong in his duties to make sure that he deliver for eastern region and Ghana as a whole.
The 35yr old Mr. Ernest Mawufemor revealed that, the delegates voted against him because of his age, adding that, all the delegates he spoke to during the preparation towards the election told him to identity himself to some certain groups within the New Patriotic Party.
“I came in independently as a young man to offer that youthful perspective in council to the Prez. I was doing so for the other young people out there to look at me and my story to be inspired and take on the leadership challenges” he told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.
