The 1st Vice Chairman for NPP in the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Bodinga is of the view that, the General Secretary for NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah caused the downfall of their own petition sent to Ghana’s Supreme Court.
According to him, the first day the SC begun hearing on the case of the 2020 elections petition by the NDC, Mr. Asiedua Nketiah who was the 1st witness to testify, could not lead up to the billing, hence, spoilt everything during the cross examination by the 1st and 2nd respondent lawyers.
“The answers Mr. Johnson Nketiah gave to the 1st and 2nd despondent lawyers especially the calculations part of the result during the cross examination made their own case dead on arrival” he noted.
Alhaji Bodinga added, he is not surprised the Supreme Court after hearing the case quashed it and ruled in favour of NPP.
Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH in an interview, stated that, these elections 2020 petition hearing is the 3rd time a party has taken an elections result to court for justification from the Supreme Court of the Land.
“Mr. Robert Joseph Mettle Nunoo and late Mr. Kingsley Owu, the leading members of NDC took Ex- Prez John Agyekum Kufuor to court in his 2nd term in 2004 when Ghanaians convincingly voted him to continue his good works”
“So this is not the 2nd time an elections have been taken to court for further clarification by the political parties in Ghana but rather is the 3rd time. The 1st one was in 2004, the 2nd one was in 2012, and the last one is 2020” revealed Alhaji Umar Bodinga.
He further hinted that it is NPP’s hope in 2024 seeing NDC choose Mr. John Dramani Mahama as Flagbearer to lead them again. This, he said is where Ghanaians will teach them a lesson.
Again, Mr. Alhaji Bodinga chastised that instead of Mr. Mahama accepting the outcome of the petition in good faith to call and congratulate Prez. Akufo-Addo, he rather incited some Ghanaians against the judges in his press statement which is very worrying.
“Mr. Dramani Mahama should have said it in his press statement that, for the interest of Ghanaians I have accept the Supreme Court verdict in a good faith like what Nana Addo did in 2012” he opined.
However, he indicated, it looks like Mr. John Mahama thinks about his own personal interest more than that of the Ghanaians who are still feeding him through their tax. Stressing that NPP will be glad if NDC bring him[Mahama] again to contest the 2024 general elections because massive defeat is await him.
