The Eastern Regional Communication Director of NPP, Mr. David Prah has backed and commended the MP for Suame Constituency in the A/R who double as the Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu on the called for Non-Akan to lead NPP in 2024 general elections.
He said, he sees nothing wrong with the statement Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu made, and termed the latter’s comment as “true”.
Mr. Prah explained that, NPP has History and Tradition that govern their party and nobody can change that….
“We have Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition who came together and shade their blood for the party to be sustained” he noted.
He highlighted that; Busia hails from both Ashanti and Bono region and they produced former Pres. John Agyekum Kufour, Danquah also hails from Kyebi in the eastern region and we have produced current Pres Nana Addo, and now is left with Dombo and he is from the Northern Region.
He asked?, now who will represent Dombo to lead NPP in 2024 elections!!!.
However, Mr. David Prah is of the view that every Ghanaian knows that, Veep. Dr. Alhaji Bawumia hails from the Northern Region, hence, no one deserves to be told that it is his turn to lead NPP in 2024 general elections.
He told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, adding that, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has spoken very well because all of the two consecutive presidents are Akans and the believe that Dr. Bawumia is the next person to be NPP’s Flagbearer is clear.
He further stated, this is not something we have to hide it because is clear for everyone to see.
Mr. Prah noted that when the time is due for the delegates to decide who to lead the party in 2024, the NPP executives in the region led by chairman Kingsley Okomeng Kissi will made an official statement on their stance about the issue at hand.
This, he entreated all NPP members and supporters to restraint patience and come together as one family to promote the welfare of the party, stressing that notwithstanding, most of them support what the Honourable Majority Leader said.
