Abuakwa North: NPP Supporters Are Not Against Northerners

The Chairman for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region on the ticket of ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Douglas Asare has debunked a statement published by the Daily Post newspaper that , the NPP supporters in his constituency are against Alhaji Umar Bodinga’s move for the MCE post because he is a ‘pepeni’.

He emphatically stressed that, it is untrue that the NPP supporters in Abuakwa North are not in good terms with the northerners living in the constituency. Stating that they’re all living in harmonious way.

Mr. Asare added, when a position became vacant everybody want to occupy it and immediately tribalism set in its create another impression which is very bad attitude, a situation needed not to be encouraged.

Five people are aspiring for the Abuakwa North MCE position and they are; Mr. Kofi Obeng Mensah, Nana Ofosu Asante Twum, Mrs. Joyce Mensah, Mr. Kofi Asare Gyekye, and Alhaji Umar Bodinga who is the E/R 1st Vice Chairman.

He further explained that, Alhaji Bodinga was born and bread in Kukurantumi and has all his family members there, hence, they can’t hate him for eyeing the MCE position.

Moreover, he indicated; now that the regional NPP executives are done with their vetting, is left with Prez to decide who to become the next MCE for the Municipality.

He told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH in an interview.

He again stated that, it is time we let people understand that we are all Ghanaians and belongs to one common destiny.

“Tribalism, religion , nepotism and etc won’t help solve the substantive problems. But what we are looking for is that; when the job is being entrusted under your care you will be able to deliver”

Mr. Douglas Asare pleaded with his party [NPP] members to forgo the tribalism issues and think about the party’s development first, and also learn how to help the youth in the country to get work doing.

He said in recent times armed robbers have been worrying them and even on Monday May 24, 2021 at about 400hr, armed robbbers blocked and attacked passengers on Koforidua-Kukurantumi road and took away their huge amount of money, and this is the important issue we needed to be addressed as a nation.

One of our aspiring MCE’s, Mrs. Joyce Mensah was a victim to that, they shot her car and took away her bag with some items belonging to her.

He quizzed, what is position?. Reteriarted that, should one held a particular office, but everyone dies, whom would that person rule…

“Who ever the Pres will choose for us we are ready to work with the person ” he noted.
