
The Chief of Akyem Tafo in the Abuakwa North Municipality of Eastern Region, Osabarima Adusei Peasah has charged Ghanaians to joined the tree planting campaign to support the gov’t Greening Ghana Project.
He indicated that, doing this will help resurrect our lands and water bodies that have been destroyed by the activities of illegal mining.

However, Osabarima Peasah suggested that, should one person at least plant one tree, the whole country would plant about 10 million trees instead of the initial 5 million trees targeted by the Prez to be planted to reshaped our collapsing forest and water bodies by the galamseyers.
He said, Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Panin saw the importance of tree planting to mankind, thus, started some years back in 1999 till date.

Osabarima Adusei Peasah who exhibited an act of ‘leadership by example’ by planting a tree, made these remarks during the launching of the Green Ghana Project by Prez Nana Addo at W.B.M. Zion SHS in Abuakwa North Constituency.
Furthermore, the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo commended Prez Akufo-Addo and his Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor for their vision they had on the project at which the whole nation Kick-start the planting of trees on Friday, June 11, 2021 in a move to prevent the lands and water bodies from being destroyed.

“We will not ending of planting of trees today its going to be ongoing. Because trees are source of live and livelihood to mankind, and not forgetting the adage that goes “when the last tree dies, the last man dies”
“It is only plants who through photosynthesis could takes away the carbon dioxide and give us oxygen. Because of the covid we have seen the benefit of oxygen, so planting trees will give us a very refreshed environment” stressed Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo .

Meanwhile, Eastern Region is estimated to plant 750,000 seedlings, and out of this total number, Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly is has it share of planting over 15,000 seedings to support the project.
