
The Eastern Regional branch of Ghana Water Company Ltd has held a stakeholders meeting with the residents of Somanya, Odumase, both of Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo Municipality to addressed their water crisis that exists for almost decade.
This, the Regional Chief Manager for Ghana Water Company ltd, Ing. Asomani Nyarko noted that, the Krobo land has two water reservoirs being located at Kpone and Bokorno respectively.
He indicated that, the Kpone reservoir supplys water to Greater Accra and Tema adding that before they can connect the Tema lines to any other places especially on Krobo land their management have to be granted them permission first before such move is embark.

Ing. Asomani continue that, individuals who needs water to their various homes can give them money but should management denied them that audacity, nothing can be done about their situation.
Making this known to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH in an interview during the stakeholders meeting at Somanya Methodist Church of Ghana, he said, they are not aimed of not supplying water to cover the Krobo land since at the end the of day their business is to sell water, and, at the same time render services to the entire country but not providing to only one locality.
“All things being equal we will do our possible best to give water to the good people of Odumase and Somanya to use it to run their daily activity ” he assures.

Meanwhile Assembly Member for Oterkpolu electoral area Ebenezer Tei-Nettey and Assembly Member for Gberkormanya electoral area, Oti Owusu Andrews all in the Yilo Municipality complained bitterly about the water crisis of the area that has become a burden.
They said, they don’t understand the reasons why they have two water reservoirs on their land which supplies water to some parts of Accra-Tema and Koforidua but they don’t get water for their daily activity.
Furthermore, Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong who graced the programme as special guest of honour opined that, the agitated residents of Somanya and Odumase have every right to channeled their anger at Ghana Water Company ltd over their water crisis.

Adding, it is painful that; custodians of the two water reservoirs whose population would be over 250,000 don’t have water to run their daily activity for decades.
In a nutshell, he said as a Regional Minister, he will consult the appropriate authorities to ensure this problems is solved.

“The NPP gov’t came to serve and also to listen to the problems of its citizens and find solutions to it” says Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong.
