
Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Hon. Dorcas Afo-Toffey has launched Women Assistant interest free loan scheme to enable traders to expand their businesses.
The initiative according to the Hon. MP is one of her major 2020 electioneering campaign promises she made to the women in the Jomoro constituency should they voted her as their MP.
She stated that, the loan scheme will go a along way to provide financial support to the traders in the era of Covid-19 pandemic.
Hon. Afo-Toffey speaking with New Day FM journalist, Kaakyire Kwasi Afari, she said, the Women Assistant Fund is a collaborative initiative with Jomoro Rural Bank to give away interest free loans for 200 women in every month from the Constituency to expand their commercial businesses.

She is of confident that, women empowerment is a gateway to eradicate economy hardships in our society if more women entrepreneurs are given the maximum push and support in their endeavours.
The MP emphatically stated, the loan scheme is open up for all women residing in the Jomoro but is not for only the members of National Democratic Congress as some people are saying.
Obaahema Awube, on behalf of the Nzema Queen Mothers Association hailed the MP for the financial support for the traders in Jomoro Municipality.
She also advised the beneficiaries to use the money received for its purpose to enable them to pay it back on the deadline given so that others can also benefit from the same money.

The Queen mothers was optimistic that the loan facility will not only empower women in trade, but, also, described it as a timely intervention that will sustain their businesses in this Covid-19 pandemic era.
Some of the dignitaries who attended the programme were, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, MP for Ellembelle, Hon. Samuel Akudzato Ablakwa, North Tongu MP, Hon. Kofi Arko Nokoe, Western Regional NDC representatives, Nzema Queen Mothers Association, and some assembly members of Jomoro Municipal Assembly .
