Jomoro MP Donates Furniture To Nana Avo Nweah Basis School

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Hon. Dorcas Afo-Toffey has donated 100 dual desks to Nana Avo Nweah M/A Basic School.

The donation of the desks by Dorcas Afo-Toffey was made to the Human Resource Manager of Jomoro Directorate of Education to be handed over to Nana Avo Nweah M/A basic school.

The donation, which was done on Friday, August 27, 2021 forms part of efforts by the Jomoro MP to contribute to enhance teaching and learning in the Constituency.

Handing over the furniture to the Education Directorate, Hon. Afo-Toffey said, going arounds to the various communities during her parliamentary election campaign tour, it was devastating to see students lying on the floor and others sitting on blocks during teaching and learning hours, a situation she noted affected the impact on pupils.

She reiterated her commitment to education, adding that, she would make sure every school in her constituency get a furniture.

The Hon. MP adds, she will to do her best to utilise the resources available to her and further stating to construct a 6-units classroom block for Nana Avo Nweah M/A Basic School since the school is in dire need of befitting classrooms.

Addressing the gathering she promise to provide 1 laptop each to the teaching staff of Nana Avo Nweah School

Receiving the furniture, the Headteacher of of the Nana Avo Nweah Basic School, Mr Cletus Azupe commends the Member of Parliament for her good works.

The promise by the MP follows a request from the Chief of Tikobo No-2 Nana Avo Nweah for asking her to provide the school with state of art ICT laboratory.

Mr Cletus Azupe in his speech said “challenge of inadequate furniture has been one of the major impediments hindering effective academy works in the school. So I thank God so much for given us such a kindhearted and a concerned MP who has come to our aid in addressing our challenge”

These donation will go a long way to bring solutions to the canker of inadequate furniture syndrome in the school.The supply of this furniture has just opened the door for better and greater achievement in the school” he told New Day FM journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari in an interview.

Mr. Azupe applauded the teachers of the school for enduring academic hardship by handling the students who normally squats or sit on the floor during classes hours.

The Chief of Tikobo No-2 Nana Avo Nweah, called on the parents to support the teaching staff in a way of motivating them since the school is located in a deprived area.

He said, the PTA of the school has a pivotal role to play to improve academics for their wards, hence its their core responsibility for developing the school especially, in the area of assisting the construction of the school’s infrastructure and provide food items for the teachers as well.
