As many Ghanaians are waiting to listen to what Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, the Finance Minister have for them in tomorrow’s 2022 budget, some persons have expressed their expectations ahead of the budget.
The Treasurer of Koforidua Progressive Transport Union Association (PROTOA), Mr. Joshua Kofi Soga have said, the Driver Unions across the country are suffering as a result of the continuous increment of the fuel prices.
“We are expecting the Finance Minister to address to this issue either reducing the fuel prices or adding some small percentage to the lorry fare to help relief drivers from their suffering”, he noted.
Mr. Kofi Soga indicated that, it is not only the fuel prices that have gone up, but rather, the prices of spare parts have also gone up. Now car battery price have increased from GHS350.00 to GHS600.00, car tyres from GHS350.00 to GHS500.00, and engine oil from GHS82.00 to GHS116.00.
He made this to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, adding that, its difficult for the drivers to get money to buy new spare parts to fix their vehicles when the fuel prices goes high without increasing the lorry fare.
He ceased the opportunity to advice drivers to be extra cautious when driving as Christmas festivities is approaching.
Mr. Soga also highlighted that good driver are the ones who drives passengers to their various destinations safely.
