
The Legislature for Abuakwa North Constituency, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo and Alhaji Umar Babs Kofi Bodinga together with NADMO Department of Abuakwa North Municipality in the Eastern Region have presented relief items to the affected victims of the Osiem fire outbreak.
It is recalled that on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 fire razed about 5 houses and stores in Osiem destroying thousands of properties and rendering over 25 persons homeless.

The items presented to them include foodstuffs, secondhand clothing, blankets, student mattresses, brand-new cloth,mosquito nets, backets, bowls and many more.
Presenting the relief items, Mrs. Twum Ampofo commiserate with the victims and urged them to be thankful to God since no live was lost, because once they have live they have everything.

The MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of TVET advised the people to be extra careful when using domestic fire amid the harmattan season.
Because the investigation by the firefighters revealed that, the fire outbreak was being caused by the domestic fire.
The MCE for Abuakwa North Municipality, Alhaji Umar Babs Kofi Bodinga expressed disappointment in the Physical Planners and Building Inspectorate in the area for failing to do the needful.

He stressed that houses are built anyhow in the municipality and quizzed the basis the Physical Planners and Building Inspectors granted them permission in taking such exercises.
In this light, Alhaji Umar Bodinga threatened to pulldown structures that have no permit in the Municipality to prevent any unforeseen tragedy.

Gyaasehene of Osiem, Opanyin Twum Ampofo thanked the MP and MCE for the donated such items indicating that it will release some burden of the victims.
He used the opportunity to appealed to stakeholders to assist affected students in the area with learning materials and school uniforms.
