E/R: Works Commences On Construction Of The 14Km Road From Akim New Tafo To Kukurantumi

Works has commenced on the long awaited deplorable 14 km road network from Akim New Tafo to Akim Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region.

The start point of the 14Km road under construction is Engen Junction at New Tafo.

Kingdom News speaking with Alhaji Umar Babs Kofi Bodinga, the Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North Municipality said, the poor state of the road has being a headache since he assumed office as MCE.

He noted that, the road, when completed, will become a huge relief for the people of the counstituency.

Alhaji Umar Bodinga also observed that he’s adamant construction firm, ‘General Construction Limited’, in charge of the project would do a genuine work due to their track record.

He then used the opportunity to charged some contractors who are working on the Anyinasin to Old Tafo and Nobi to Anweabeng stretches to fastrack their works to enable them complete the projects on the expected time frame.

According to him, the municipality and other districts in the region rely on those towns for food stuff since they are farming communities.

Mr. MCE told Kingdom TV/FM KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH when he went to the site to inspect the ongoing 14km road construction in the Municipality. He added, the commencement of this road construction came into a reality through the hardwork of my Sister, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo, the MP for the constituency and am grateful to her.

Some drivers who ply the stretch expressed their excitement for seeing the said roads under construction.

According to them, they spent most of their gains to purchase spare parts to fix their vehicles because of the bad nature of the road.

Adding that, a lot of complaints were made about the poor state of the road therefore they’re grateful to the Member of Parliament of the area, Gifty Twum Ampofo and the MCE, Mr. Bodinga for listening to their public cry.

Meanwhile, the foreman of the General Construction Limited, Eric Agyemang, indicate, is optimistic that the project will be completed the end of 2022.

He also pleaded with the drivers to slow down whenever they get to the working sites to avoid causing any harm.

Mr. Agyemang then called on shop owners along the road reservation of the affected roads to temporarily relocate to pave way for the smooth implementation of the road network.
