The Unit headmistress of OPASS Primary School for the Special Children Unit, Madam Charity Yaa Otu has expressed her displeasure over challenges facing the institution.
The OPASS Unit School for the Special Children take care of different categories of disabled children; such as down syndrom, autistics, cerebral palsy, and etc.
According to Madam Yaa Otu, it is the only school that cater for both children from the Abuakwa North and South Constituency respectively.

Adding that, they need spacious classrooms and boarding house that can accommodate students.
“Because of the school doesn’t have enough facility to accommodate such children, parents are keeping them at home. Should the school have its own school bus that can convey them to school and take them back home, many parent wouldn’t have kept or hide their children at home” she noted.
Mrs. Charity Yaa Otu told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI when the MP of the Abuakwa North Constituency, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo was celebrating her 6years anniversary as a lawmaker with them.

Madam Yaa Otu ceased the opportunity to appeal to the MP, gov’t, philanthropist, individuals, stakeholders to come to their aid by getting them the bus or the school facility.
She observe that, such special children also deserves quality education to better their future.
Responding to their plight, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo said, arrangement is underway to get them spacious classroom with learning materials the children would need for their studies.

The MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of TVET, thus admonished parents of such wards to be proud and also charge them to cultivate the manner of taking them to hospital for a regular check ups.
She urged the society to stop maltreating such children but rather show them love since they are also human being like any other person.
In her visitation to the school, she gave them toiletries, detergents, diapers, powered soap, antibiotics drugs. Afterward, she proceeded to dine with them.
