The District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa South District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Ernest Ofosu has bemoaned over the absentees of the some 15 candidates partaking in the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.).
According to him, most of these candidates were truant to school after being registered for the B.E.C.E per the information he has.
He describe the situation as very worrying and urged parents to take the education of their wards very serious ensuring they are punctual in school.

According to him due to President Nana Addo’s free education in the second cycle no parents has the excuse to let their wards stay at home.
“It is the wish of President Akufo Addo that every Ghanaian child would have free compulsory universal basic education but what I have seen today is not encouraging. But going forward the Assembly would put in place measures to ensure this things wouldn’t occur again” he said.
He continue to say, the assembly would offer support for any candidates who will pass the exams to go to SHS despite the Free SHS.
“Because most at times, when the children are going to SHS their parents call on the assembly to support to buy their items and they are ready to assist any parent whose child will pass the exams,” he noted.
He told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during his visitation to five B.E.C.E centres in his district namely, Begoro SHS center, Hemang Presby Primary Center, Bosuso Pentecost centre, Osino SHS center, and Ahiamekyene D/A centre.
