Abuakwa South: 40 Brilliant B.E.C.E Candidates Get Supports

Benjilo Foundation, a non-governmental organisation at Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has made donation to 40 candidates who sat for 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E).

The donation, consisting of mattresses, trunks, buckets, among other school items and addition of a GH¢200.00 cash were presented to each of the candidates who obtained aggregate 6 to 15.

This was to reduce the burden of the parents of the beneficial students amidst preparing themselves to continue education at the Senior High level.

It followed similar move where 20 BECE candidates of 2021 benefited from same program.

Ensuring this year’s program held at Akim Apedwa Methodist Church on Saturday, February 25, 2023, was colourful and successful, the Apedwahene, Osaberima Asantehene Frimpong Manso graced the occasion.

According to the Chief Executive Officer for Benjilo Foundation, Benjamin Arkaah Otoo, Education is the foundation of prosperity, therefore taking such step to assist the school children was necessary.

Mr. Otoo speaking to KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH was of the view that although the implementation of the Free SHS policy has been helpful, most brilliant but needy students would have stayed home if not for the intervention of their Foundation because their parents can’t afford the cost involved.

The CEO who doubles as the President of GLOSSAG used the opportunity and advised the school children in the area especially brilliant but needy students to study hard and have it in mind that when they passed their B.E.C.E, Benjilo Foundation will offer support to them whiles going to S.H.S.

Some parents of the beneficiary children thanked Benjilo Foundation for striking out what they call it the ‘biggest burden’ among the school items off them.

Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly, Akosua Asabea Annoh commended Benjamin Arkaah Otoo and his team for their good works in complementing the government’s Free SHS policy in the Municipality.

She assured that, her Municipality would ensure its play their part to support the government in education at the area.

The MCE concluded and called on other individuals from Abuakwa South to emulate Benjilo Foundation owning to the background that gov’t alone cannot do everything for school children in the country.
