He said, thou Dr. Bawumia won in the Eastern Region with 59 votes as against Ken Agyapong 8, Alan Kyerematen 7, Boakye Agyarko, whiles Addai Nimo and Afriyie Akoto had one vote each respectively, they could not celebrate.
Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Samuel Ayeh-Paye who doubles as a former Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency said, that Dr. Bawumia were crown as a winner in the region but his supporters couldn’t jubilate because he didn’t get the votes they were expecting.
Ayeh-Paye adds, that they are not worried about the votes pulled by the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Bawumia because they have over 200,000 delegates to decide on November 4,2023.
He believe that, come November 4, the results Dr. Bawumia got would reduced because over 200,000 delegates will be the deciding factor to select one person to become the flagbearer of their party and lead them into the 2024 elections.
In all 81 delegates from the Eastern Region went for polls on Saturday, August 26, 2023. And comprises of Eastern Regional Minister, 17 Regional Executives, 33 Constituency Chairmen, 25 Members of Parliament, 2 Founding Members, and 3 representatives from the national council.
Meanwhile, when Boakye Agyarko addressed the pressmen after casting his vote suggested, that should the NPP allowed every delegate to vote for 5 out of the 10 aspirants before the the elections ends there wouldn’t be any runoff.
“…And if is being done that way, it is impossible to select the first Five people because they would vote for the person they liked and make things easy for the party”, he noted.
Boakye Agyarko further stated, if the delegates votes for one person to get 100%, they will keep on voting till they get the other 4 to add up to make it 5 and is a waste of resources.
