The New Patriotic Party’s Women Organizer for New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Regina Bempong has stated that the introduction of Chocolate Day on February 14 every year has changed the narrative of the celebration of Valentine’s Day in Ghana.
According to her, the new dimension that the occasion has taken is awesome, unlike those days when people were dressed in all red attire and engaged in unmannered behaviors throughout the night.
“But today during the Valentine’s Day celebration, most churches organize programs for the youth to prevent them from going to spots, pubs, and bars among others to come and listen to the world of God,” she noted.
Madam Regina Bempong however noted that Churches also implementing the Chocolate Day celebration as part of their activities on the occasion had also contributed positively to the lives of the youth, especially the females by reducing teenage pregnancies being recorded annually after Valentine’s Day.
Speaking further to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, she applauded the NPP government for the introduction of the Chocolate Day celebration to change the face of Valentine’s Day in the country.
She then advised the young ladies, especially the virgins not to lose their virginity to the boys by falling prey to their deceitful gifts.
She indicated that Valentine’s Day is not the day to fornicate but to show genuine love to loved ones.
Speaking to some SHS students in the New Juaben South Municipality, they also expressed their opinions on the Valentine’s Day celebration.
They said the Valentine’s Day celebration is not about the fornication but rather about buying things for their loved ones and appreciating them for the impact they have had on one life.
