Abukwa North MP Supports Mama Awurama’s Health Center With 100K

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Gifty Twum Ampofo has presented laboratory equipment worth Hundred of Thousands Ghana Cedis (100,000.00) to Mama Awurama Memorial Health Center in Kukurantumi.

According to her, Kukurantumi being the district capital of the Abuakwa North Municipal has been using a Community Health-Based Planning Services compound (CHPS compound) at the center of the town for many years even though the facility needed a facelift which she has been supportive of that.

Gifty Ampofo recounted that during the funeral rite for the late Queen Mother, a woman who was in labor was wailing at the occasion and she went through embarrassment. The sister of the Queen Mother, Ruth Addo who was also there observed the situation which she drew her motivation from to put up such a facility.

She mentioned that she supported Ruth Addo with roofing sheets because she is a retiree nurse, indicating that as an MP who wants the best for her people decided to use a little over GHS100.000.00 from her National Health Insurance fund to purchase the medical equipment for the new built Mama Awurama Memorial Health Center to ensure smooth running of the facility.

Gifty Twum Ampofo told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during the commissioning and official handing over of the facility to the Kukurantumi township.

For her part, Ruth Addo said she is not rich but what she saw at the CHPS compound encouraged her to put up the Ultramodern Health Center and named it after her late Mother, Mama Awurama to enhance quality healthcare delivery for the people of Kukurantumi and its environs.

“I and my family have given them a 42-inch flat-screen television, air-conditioning, and chairs because we don’t want the health workers who would be posted there to work to suffer,” she stated.

Ruth Addo then entreated the Abuakwa North Health Directorate to put the facility received to good use to enable to save more lives.

The Health Director for Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, Abdul Aziz Abdulai thanked Ruth Addo and her family and Gifty Twum Ampofo for their philanthropic work saying the facility received would help in many ways.

“Most of the equipment needed to run the facility has been provided by the MP, so we will also provide quality service to all patients who would come there for medical treatment,” he told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.
