The Management of the Benkum Senior High School in Larteh in the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region has launched its 75th Anniversary Celebration.
The School was established in 1949 and has had many successes. It has also trained many people across the length and breadth of the country.
Speaking at the launching, Lawrence Dzah, the Akuapem North Director of Education who doubles as the acting Headmaster of the Benkum SHS, said she was proud of the lectures whose dedication and contributions have helped shape students to excel in various academic fields.
The theme for the anniversary celebration was; “75 Years of Providing Dynamic Education: Strengthening Partnership To Promote Effective Education in the 21st Century.”
She stated that effective education is not a solo effort but a collective responsibility that requires the input of parents, teachers, students, traditional authorities, religious organizations, and the government.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the program, who doubles as the Kyedomhene of Akuapem Traditional Council, Osaberima Ansah Sesraku, advised the students to be circumspect about the lifestyle they choose and ensure that they are not swayed by friends who indulge in social vices.
He explained that indulging in drugs is not a good practice; hence, students should not embrace it because it has many negative implications, including destroying their future.
He rather urged them to take their studies seriously to become beneficial to their parents and the country as well.
For his part, the Board Chairman of the School, Dr. Frederick Anderson, said they had started two projects in the school, and he would be grateful if individuals, NGOs, and cooperating institutions help them complete these projects before the Anniversary in October 2024.
“The projects are the small water system and the laboratory facilities in the School, and when these two projects are completed, it will solve the water crisis in the school, and the students will also get a befitting laboratory for their practicals,” he mentioned.
According to him, the Benkum Senior High School lacks a lot of infrastructure projects but to their preference, they want to complete the aforementioned projects before tackling the other ones.
