The Okyeman Nifahene in Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council of the Eastern Region, Daasbre Doctor Twum Ampofo, has saluted Okyenhene, Ɔsagyefoɔ Amoatia Ofori Panin, for his tree planting initiative to ensure the environment goes green.
According to him, Okyenhene is the only King in Ghana who is committed to tree planting and has been planting 1 million tree seedlings in the area annually since the inception of the Green Ghana Day program by President Nana Addo in 2020/21.
Daasbre Twum Ampofo added that Okyehene’s significant initiative stemmed from an unsuccessful fight against the illegal mining in the country that has contributed to the destruction of the forest reserve.
He mentioned that the 25-year reign of Okyenhene has been a phenomenon and has executed a lot of infrastructure projects, but the ‘tree planting program’ stands tall among them because he is saving lives.
The Okyeman Nifahene, who doubles as the Asiakwahene, stated that sooner, he would be planting ‘12,000 tree seedlings in the Nife Division’ to augment the over 1 million tree seedlings planted by Ɔsagyefoɔ Ofori Panin in 2024 to reclaim the destroyed lands and forest by the illegal miners in the Akyem Abuakwa enclave.
Daasebre Dr. Twum Ampofo made this known to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during his visitation of Okyenhene, Ɔsagyefoɔ Amoatia Ofori Panin to Nifa Division (Asiakwa) as part of his 25th Anniversary Celebration on the Ofori Panyin Stool.

Addressing the Chiefs, elders, and residents of the Nifa Division [Asiakwa] the overlord of the Akyem Abuakwa State, Ɔsagyefoɔ Amoatia Ofori Panin said Ghana is about to go to polls to elect t new leader to govern the country in the next four years and urge the youth to stay away from any form of act that may disturb the peace of the country before, during and after the elections.
