NPP GOV’t Earns Praise For Commitment To Agriculture

The District Chief District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa South District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Ernest Ofosu has praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Akufo Addo for making farming attractive with its implementation of incentive policies.

According to him, NPP is committed to farming, hence introducing many policies and programs to change the narrative of farming in the country.

“When President Akufo Addo assumed office in 2017, he realized that how we do farming wasn’t the best, so he employed more extension officers to train the farmers on how to use technology to do farming to enable them to harvest more crops,” he said.

The Fanteakwa South DCE indicated that the farmers can attest to the fact the training given to them by the extension officers has helped increase their revenue after harvesting their farm produce.

He recounted that they had distributed 811 bags of fertilizers to the farmers where the men got 557 bags as against the women 243.

“The government has given us an additional 5,000 bags of fertilizer and we will be distributing it to the farmers anytime soon to help their crops grow well for the country to get excess food and export some to get foreign exchange to run the country,” opined Ernest Ofosu.

He made these remarks at Nkakama on Thursday, November 7, 2024, during the 40th golden jubilee anniversary of the Ghanaian Farmers.

He used the opportunity to congratulate farmers in the country for their hard work, dedication, and contributions towards the development of the country for the past 40 years, and he asked for God’s blessings and protection upon their lives.

Meanwhile, 56-year-old Esther Yokwor Narh was crowned the overall Best Farmer for 2024 in the District.

She was given 1 motorbike, 7 cutlasses, 5 herbicides, 1 knapsack spray, 1 Wax print, 6 bags of fertilizer, and a certificate.

Speaking on the sideline to KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidates for the 2024 election for the Constituency, Duke Ofori Atta urged the farmers to prioritize their ward’s education before any other things since education in Ghana is free – from the Basic to the SHS level.

“Farmers should invest in their ward’s education to enable them to become prominent people and take care of them when they go off the farming work in the near future.
