
The Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, Akosua Asabea Annoh has praised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under President Akufo Addo for its commitment to the agriculture sector in the country, coupled with its implementation of incentive policies.
According to her, the introduction of the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), One District One Factory (1D1F), and the extension of the fisheries harbors, among others, indicates that agriculture is dear to the heart of the NPP administration.
Akosua Annoh believes that if the country continues investing heavily in the agriculture sector, the likelihood of a shortage of food in the near future will be impossible.
The MCE made these remarks at Ntaabea Adonkwanta on Friday, November 7, 2024, during the 40th Farmers’ Day anniversary celebration.
It was celebrated under the theme: “BUILDING CLIMATE RESILIENT AGRICULTURE FOR SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY.”
“When President Akufo Addo assumed office in 2017, he realized that how we do farming wasn’t the best, so he employed more agric extension officers to train the farmers on how to use technology to do farming to enable them to harvest more crops,” She said.
She commended the government for its continuous support for farmers by giving them fertilizers to help increase their farm produce, enabling them to harvest more and do exportation to help in the development of the country.
In her conclusion, Madam Asabea Annoh used the opportunity and congratulated all farmers in the country especially those in her municipality.
According to her, the efforts of Ghanaian farmers, in various ways, have contributed to the growth and development of the economy and cannot be underestimated.
The ‘Ness Ness Farms’ were crowned the 2024 overall best farms in the municipality.
