The outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akuapem South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Osei Bonsu Amoah, says it will be difficult for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to wrest the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 election.
According to him, the NPP will put in more effort to secure victory and retain power in 2025.
O.B. Amoah as affectionately called, emphasized that they would not cede power to the NDC, as they believe their government has performed better and aims to continue its good work to transform and develop the country.
The Akuapem South MP also noted that the NPP has an affable and indefatigable Presidential Candidate in the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s relentless efforts in supporting President Akufo-Addo to implement numerous transformative programs that have positively impacted the general populace.
Osei Amoah made these remarks at the Berekuso Palace during the celebration of Awukudae where he used the occasion to introduce the elected Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Eric Apeadu Yeboah, to the Chiefs, elders, and residents of the community, urging them to vote for Yeboah and Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming December polls.
He further stressed that the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital projects and the sustainability of the Free SHS education policy depend on the outcome of the 2024 election. Therefore, he called on Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to safeguard these legacy projects.
Additionally, Berekusohene, Odeefuo Oteng Korankye, who also serves as the Twafohene of the Akuapem Traditional Council, commended the NPP government for spearheading numerous developmental projects nationwide.
He noted that Ghana’s 30-year democratic journey has been largely peaceful, and he believes the 2024 election will also be conducted without chaos.
Odeefuo Oteng Korankye advised citizens to vote based on development. He urged everyone to go to their respective polling centers, cast their votes for the party they believe can bring development and positive change to the country, and return home peacefully without causing disturbances.
According to him, this approach would ensure a successful and peaceful election.
The Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency, Eric Apeadu Yeboah, stated that the NPP government has created numerous job opportunities for the youth in the area.
He assured the Chiefs, elders, and people of Berekuso of his commitment to youth development and pledged to create more jobs for the youth in Akuapem South if elected as the next MP of the area.
