The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region, Abena Osei-Asare, has mocked former President John Dramani Mahama for his statement that, if elected, he would provide small broilers (nkokɔ nketsetse) to the youth to start poultry farms and use the proceeds to feed themselves.
According to her, Ghana is developing and needs a leader with a visionary and strategic mindset who can transform the country’s destiny, not someone with a small-broiler rearing mindset.
The Atiwa East MP, who also serves as the Minister of State in charge of Finance, emphasized that since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) assumed office in 2017, they have created various job opportunities for the youth, helping to reduce the country’s unemployment rate.
She stressed the importance of continuing these efforts by re-electing the NPP government.
She urged the youth to consider the ongoing infrastructure projects executed by the NPP government and give them another mandate to continue their good work, which will change the fortunes of the country’s future.
Abena Osei-Asare made these remarks on Sunday, December 1, 2024, during a Victory Walk to energize the grassroots ahead of the 2024 election.
She urged her constituents, especially the youth, to come out in large numbers on December 7 and vote massively for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to become the next President of Ghana.
The National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Salam Mustapha, also called on the constituents of Atiwa East to vote straight for Abena Osei-Asare and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ensuring an NPP victory in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
He emphasized that the NPP is determined to break the 8 and urged the Atiwa East constituents to avoid “skirt and blouse” voting, promising that the NPP has much more to offer Ghanaians.
Additionally, the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, appealed for peace among all former parliamentary aspirants of the party, entreating them to forgo their differences and form a united team to support the elected Parliamentary Candidates to enable the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
“By rallying behind their colleagues Parliamentary Candidates to come out victorious, the Party will also reward them for their hard work and for helping to ensure that the NPP remains in power,” he noted.
