The Member of Parliament for the Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to renew the contract with Zoomlion Ghana Company Limited so they can return to their post and clean the country.
According to Protozoa, as he is popularly called in the political terrain, every part of the country is dirty, and he doesn’t understand why the government remains adamant about renewing Zoomlion’s contract to enable them to clean the dirt that is flooding various principal streets across the country.
“A country that does not take its sanitation issues seriously ends up spending millions on its citizens to combat an outbreak of diseases, such as typhoid fever, malaria, and cholera, among others,” he mentioned.

Frank Asiedu Bekoe added that Ghanaians pay taxes and money has been allocated for sanitation, so he doesn’t know why President Mahama hasn’t paid Zoomlion staff for the past 5–6 months to enable them to clean the breadth and length of the country.
The Suhum MP made this known on Saturday, May 24, 2025, when he led a massive cleanup exercise at the Suhum roundabout and overhead with his sanitation team.
The Suhum MP’s sanitation team comprises all the security agencies, Assembly Members, the Local Council of Churches, the Muslim community, and transport unions, among others in the area.

They aimed to ensure that every corner of the Suhum Municipality is clean to avoid any outbreak of diseases in the future.
Protozoa then stated that if the Ghana government won’t renew Zoomlion’s contract for them to clean the country, it is up to the President. But to him, he can’t sit aloof and allow dirt to engulf his constituents and kill them, hence the clean-up exercise.

Mr. Bekoe used the medium and urged the President to make the contract renew his priority since the rainy season is fast approaching.
