Presby Moderator Hail Akropong PCE Management For 2024 Graduands’ Academic Performance

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has commended the Management of Presbyterian College of Education (PCE), Akropong, for the outstanding academic excellence of the 2024 graduands.

The College graduated 658 Students on Wednesday, August 27. Out of this total number, 289 bagged First Class Honors, 328 grabbed Second Class Upper, 33 and 8 placed Second Class Lower and Third Class positions respectively.

Speaking at the 17th Congregation Ceremony of the College, Rt. Rev. Nana Kwakye expressed shock about the astonishing results garnered by Graduands, stating that no College of Education in the country has ever achieved such grades, something he described as incredible.

The Moderator further thanked management for instilling discipline and God’s word in the students to enable them to come out with these beautiful scores to make the College and their parents proud.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Opare Kwakye then advised them that, as they go out to the world to mold many lives, they shouldn’t cease learning, and in doing so, their academic performance will have a positive impact on their learners.

Before the graduation ceremony, he commissioned two projects donated to the College by Holland Akokor and Labianca Company Limited, and Mrs. Winifred Bempong. He thanked them for their kind gesture.

Holland Akokor and Labianca Company Limited drilled a mechanized borehole with both electricity and solar panels, while Mrs. Bempong donated a children’s library which would be used by the demonstration school of the College to enhance teaching and learning.

On his part, the Principal of the College, Rev. Dr. Nicholas Apreh-Siaw, outlined some challenges confronting them. He said the College is in dire need of a 62-capacity bus to support teaching practicals for students.

He also appealed to the government and the Ministry of Education to increase meals for students, noting that the one square meal a day policy for trainees is not encouraging.

According to him, it remains a big concern that the appropriate authorities have to address it accordingly to support students because most of them face a lot of challenges on campus
