The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has expressed the party’s preparedness for a possible re-election in the 2024 Suhum Parliamentary election results.
Oboafo Kwadjo Asante, the Independent Parliamentary Candidate for the Suhum constituency, has contested the 2024 Parliamentary election results after the Electoral Commission declared the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, the winner at the Tesano Police Training College in Accra.
Mr. Asante and his legal team are currently at the Koforidua High Court ‘A’, challenging the results, with the court having initiated proceedings involving himself, Mr. Bekoe, and the Electoral Commission (EC).

The case was presented in court on Wednesday and Thursday, September 24 and 25, 2025, and is scheduled to continue on October 13 next month.
Reacting to the ongoing legal battles, Mr. Nketiah, stated that the party is fully prepared for a potential parliamentary election rerun in the Suhum constituency.
He noted that the NDC is closely monitoring the court proceedings, and should the court nullify the results, they would work diligently to reclaim the seat from the NPP, drawing on their recent success in the Akwatia By-Election.

In the 2024 Suhum Parliamentary election, the NPP had 16,855 votes, while the NDC garnered 15,259 votes.
Oboafo Kwadjo Asante (Ind.PC) acquired 14,860 votes, while another Independent Candidate, Emmanuel Dede Wiafe also pulled 159 votes.
According to the controversial politician, though it is not the NDC challenging the election result, he emphasized that if the court orders a rerun, they will embrace the decision and participate in the election process.
Mr. Nketiah expressed confidence in the NDC to snatch the seat from the NPP given that the gap between them is only 1,500 votes.
He made these remarks during his ‘Thank You Tour’ of the Eastern Region, which is aimed at expressing gratitude to the people for the massive endorsement during the 2024 elections.
