Mahama’s One Year In Office Without Corruption Label Commendable…NDC Chair

Mark Okraku, NDC Chairman-Fanteakwa South constituency

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Fanteakwa South constituency in the Eastern Region, Mark Okraku, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for putting in place measures to safeguard the public purse.

Assessing President Mahama’s performance after one year in office, following his overwhelming victory on December 7, 2024, he said the President’s governance has been phenomenal and widely acknowledged.

According to him, for the first time in history, Ghana has a President whose government has not been associated with any corruption allegations.

He alleged that during the first year of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, several bribery and corruption cases occurred in his administration, including the “cash-for-seat” scandal and the disappearance of bulk contaminated fuel, among others.

Mark Okraku added that President Mahama did not seek financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or the World Bank in his 2026 budget statement and economic policy because his appointees are not corrupt.

He said they are helping him to build the country with locally mobilized funds while stabilizing the dollar-to-cedi exchange rate to give hope to Ghanaian traders.

“This demonstrates how committed they are to resetting the country and making it a safer place for all and sundry as compared to what the former President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government did to Ghanaians,” he mentioned.

He further stated that Ghanaians do not regret voting for President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government in 2024, since he is fulfilling every single promise he made to them, which he described as incredible.

The NDC Fanteakwa South Chairman noted that inflation, commodity prices, and fuel costs have all been reduced, emphasizing that this is what a good leader does to give economic freedom to its citizens.

Mr. Okraku advised those serving under the NDC government to remain resolute, focused, and discharge their duties diligently.

He urged them to refrain from any form of corrupt act that may dent the reputation of President Mahama and undermine his hard-earned public image.
