Kwabenghene, Daasebre Anyimadu Kantamanto II, of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council in the Eastern Region, has officially marked his first royal durbar since his installation as overlord of the area in 2018.

Thousands of hundreds of individuals graced the durbar in honour of Daasebre Kantamanto II after seven years of a chieftaincy dispute.

Speaking at the gathering, the Kwabenghene, who also doubles as Okyeman Gyaasehene, thanked his people for their unwavering support during the difficult period and for attending the event in large numbers, making it a memorable celebration.

“The purpose of the durbar is to account to the people of Kwabeng about my achievements in the past 7 years and what I intend to do in the subsequent years to bring more developmental projects in the area,” he noted.

According to him, he has championed infrastructure projects in the area. He has also lobbied for institutions such as the National Health Insurance Authority, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, and others to establish offices in the town so residents can benefit from the national cake.

“When I became the Kwabenghene in 2018, I realized that the unemployment rate situation among the youth in the community was very high, so I spoke to a mining company in the area called Extra Gold Mining Limited to employ them, and God being so, they listened to me and employed many of them,” he recounted.

Daasebre Anyimadu Kantamanto II revealed that he has demarcated 500 acres of land to be used to build a new modern city in Kwabeng to beautify the community, and he believes that when the project commences, it will create additional job opportunities for residents.

“I will serve Kwabengman with integrity and truth and work hand in hand with my people to change the narrative of the community,” he pledged.

The District Chief Executive for Atiwa West District Assembly, Amo Johnson Anom, in his speech, implored the Nananom of Kwabeng to form a united front and engage in dialogue with the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin, to find a lasting solution to the Kwabeng chieftaincy dispute and restore peace in the area.
