NDC Gov’t Hasn’t Given Economic Freedom To Ghanaians…Atta Akyea

Former Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern Region, Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, has stated that it is not true that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has done something extraordinary to give economic freedom to Ghanaians.

He explained that their popular 2024 campaign mantra, the 24-hour economy policy, is still at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receiving medical treatment and does not know when it will start working.

“Some people are also praising them for the stability of cedis against the United States dollar,” he mentioned.

“They will be marveled if they get to know the gold they have sold to strengthen the Ghana currency, and all this indicates that the future of the country is shaking,” noted Lawyer Samuel Akyea.

“Since the establishment of the GoldBod, the galamsey activities are getting out of hand, and it seems like they purchase gold from the galamseyers, and as a result, they have not done anything about the worsening situation.”

Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, who doubles as the former Minister for Works and Housing, made this known to DL FM’s Kontihen Kofi Oboh at Kyebi M/A Experimental Basic School after casting his vote to elect a new leader for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest the 2028 elections.

“Currently, the government owes road contractors, and this is a shame after bragging about stabilizing the economy; there is nothing special about them that deserves to be commended,” he noted.

He is optimistic that if Ghanaians vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028, he will perform better than the NDC, who claims it has done a lot of things to change the fortunes of the country.

The former Abuakwa South MP used the platform to thank the NPP delegates, especially those from his area, who came out in numbers to participate in their presidential primaries and voted massively for Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to give him another chance to lead them into the upcoming 2028 elections.
