Fanteakwa South: Chief Praises Pres Akufo Addo, DCE For Their Commitment To Education

The Ankobeahene of Akyem Hemang in the Fanteakwa South District of Eastern Region, Nana Kobea Addobɛ has hailed H.E. Pres Nana Addo and his indefatigable DCE for Fanteakwa South District Assembly, Hon. Kwasi Adjabeng Ntori for their commitment to education in the country.

Their archaic clay Presbyterian Primary School building that has been there for over decades was demolished by the Assembly and built a new 6 Unit Classroom Block for them.

According to the Ankobeahene of Akyem Hemang, even though he had his Education from the same school, none of the previous governments and DCEs attended to their aid for infrastructural wise.

“We are most grateful to Pres Nana Addo and his DCE for their good works done for making sure that every Ghanaian child have access to quality education in the country”.

Nana Addobɛ then entreated teachers of the school to put in their possible best by teaching the students well since the District want learners to perform better in both their BECE and WASSCE respectively to bring the good name of Akyem Hemang into a better reputation.

“Gone are the days, our major work we used to do here was cocoa farming but today the galamseyers have destroyed all our cocoa farms and only property we can give to our kids is education”.

Moreover, Nana Kobea Addob3, urged the school children to take their studies very serious instead of watching Television at night.

He mentioned these during the commissioning of a 6 units classroom block for Akyem Hemang Presbyterian primary school.

The District Coordinating Director of the Assembly who speaks on behalf of the Hon. DCE. Kwasi Ntori, Mr. John Paddy thanked GetFund for their continuous support for the District Assembly.

He recounted, how the DCE lobbied for 3 additional projects including the one been commissioned today making it 4 in total. The other 3 are; Osino D/A primary school, Nsutem Presbyterian primary school, and Pimpimso primary school which unfortunately the Pimpimso contractor didn’t lead up to expectation.

Mr. John Paddy added, they will continue to thank the DCE for his good works for the District, indicating he has done a lot of works in the areas such as; roads, health, water and sanitation,market and etc.

“This project we are commissioning today, it is our cherish hope that the school will train our children in order to become responsible, God fearing, law abiding and respectful”.

“Again we want to entreat the teachers to take good care of the students and equipped them with knowledge, attitude, skills and values that will make them useful to themselves and to the society they find themselves”.

Mr. Paddy ceased the opportunity and charged the community to pay their taxes especially their property rate so that the Assembly can generate resources to enable initiate more projects in the District.

1D1F Initiative: Veep Commissioned Nano Foods Pineapple Processing Factory At Nsawam Adoagyiri

Veep Dr. Bawumia commissioning the Nana Foods Ltd

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia has commissioned the over 1m$ Nano pineapple foods processing limited factory at Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of Eastern Region.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bawumia said, it’s a dreams come true under the Pres Akufo Addo’s One District One Factory initiative, and, to add to the number of the successfully implemented projects under the 1D1F.

He continue that, 1D1F projects is a major component of the 10 pillars of the industrial transformation agenda of the gov’t of Nana Akufo Addo that was implemented since 2017.

“We look back in history and we realized that one of the keys to economic development, sustainable development and job creation for our youth is industrialisation”.

He chastised that, since first Ghana’s first Pres Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s gov’t, there’s no gov’t in this country with clear industrial vision and strategy compared to Nana Addo’s administration, adding that, there has been closure of factories under previous gov’t but under Nana Akufo Addo, there has seen such factories in opening state.

Dr. Bawumia stated that, to date they have a total number of 232 projects of which these factories are in the various stages of complementation under 1D1F initiative.

Out of these, 77 are operating whilst 107 projects are under construction as well as other 48 construction has began.

The MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency who doubles as the Majority Chief Whip, Hon Frank Annor Dompreh on his part indicated that, his intention to bring back the then Astec company, now Nano foods Limited to the municipality is key but not to collapsed the Blue Skies Company as speculated by many.

“But rather we are seeking to complemented what is already in existing that’s good works being done by the Blue Skies” he added.

Furthermore, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon Alan Kyeremanteng commended the Managing Director for Nano Foods Ltd Mr. Albert Anti Owusu for reviving the Astec company now Nano Foods Ltd factory when the factory was on the verge of collapsing.

He emphasized that it’s a lesson for Ghanaian entrepreneurs to succeeding in planning ahead and not to wait until one’s exit before he/she start thinking about who to succeeded one.

Hon. Kyeremanteng highlighted the numerous strategic objectives for introducing 1D1F for the Nation under Prez Akufo Addo’s administration.

He added that, the gov’t want to decentralized industrial development to this country and to bring industry to the doorsteps of every average Ghanaian. We all know that if you want to see a factory you have to come Accra or Tema before you can see a factory.

He again said, 1D1F is making sure we bring factory to every district in our country.

“My Stewardship To Abuakwa North Is A Divine Call”…..KOM

Mr Kofi Obeng Mensah popularly know as KOM who is contesting the seat of the Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region of Ghana with four other aspirants, has mentioned that, his call to serve the Municipality is a divine one.

Mr Kofi Obeng Mensah explained that, he has had countless calls from some opinion leaders and the people of Abuakwa North to occupy the aforementioned position to help champion the developmental agenda of the president Nana Akufo-Addo and the member of parliament for the Constituency also the deputy minister of education designate, Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo.

“I have received numerous calls from scores of people, opinion leaders and some party faithfuls in the municipality to take up the challenge to serve as a Municipal Chief Executive. Since the voice of the people is the voice of the Almighty God, I have to obey wholeheartedly and give my best to the development of Abuakwa North if I am mandated by the president, Nana Akufo-Addo.” KOM mentioned.

KOM is a pharmacist by profession and hails from Akyem Osiem. He started his basic education at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) Basic School at Akyem New-Tafo and completed as the school’s first prefect. He attained his second cycle education at the Pope John Senior High and Junior Seminary in Koforidua and his first Degree in Pharmacy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology respectively.

Mr Kofi Obeng Mensah owns the only generic supplied pharmacy shop under the auspices of the quality medine for Africa by the German Government and a basic school by name child Hope Preparatory all in Akyem Osiem.

The astute pharmacist contested the NPP 2020 primaries in Abuakwa north with three others but lost. In spite his loss, he campaigned vigorously for Honorable Gifty Twum Ampofo and Nana Akufo-Addo to retain power for the second term.

Mr Kofi Obeng Mensah is contesting the Municipal Chief Executive position with, Nana Ofosu Asante Twum, Alhaji Umar Bodinga, Honourable Asare Gyekye and Madam Joyce Mensah. Vetting of all candidates slated for 22nd May, 2021.

Nana Ofosu Asante Twum popularly known as Nana OAT, has mentioned that, he is ready to serve the people of Abuakwa North Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana with dignity for massive development under the able leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa North hopeful, made this statement to the press after he tendered in his documents to vie for the seat at the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council in Koforidua on Tuesday 18th May, 2021.

“I am very determined to work with all humility, sincerity and dignity with all the stakeholders in the Municipality on behalf of the president, Nana Akufo-Addo for the social economic development of Abuakwa North and Ghana as a whole if I am appointed as the Municipal Chief Executive”. Nana Ofosu Asante Twum said.

He recounted the positive impact of flagship policies such as Planting For Food And Jobs, Planting For Export And Rural Development, Free SHS and other developmental projects have had in transforming the lives of the people in the Municipality during the first term of the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government and the member of parliament who doubles as the deputy minister of education designate, Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo and the Municipal Assembly.

Nana Ofosu Asante Twum further, admonished all to rally behind the government for more developmental projects in this second term to break the eight (8).

Nana Ofosu Asante Twum is a professional teacher who works with the Eastern Regional Free Senior High School Secretariat as a coordinator.

Four other people are also contesting the aforementioned position, Alhaji Umar Bodinga, Mr Kofi Obeng Mensah, Madam Joyce Mensah and Honourable Asare Gyekye pending vetting on the 22nd May, 2021.

Students Of Akropong School For The Blind Demands For The Removal Of Their Headmistress

Students of the school for the blind in Akuapem North Municipality of Eastern Region, have embarked on demonstration to ensure their headmistress Madam Mahela Narh is removed from the school as the headmistress as soon as possible.

According to them, Madam Mahela Narh has spent 12 years in the school without achieving anything better for them[School].

They again accused her of being a dictator and autocratic hence, does not listen to anyone’s view.

“What worsen the case is that, she has been diverting their donated items to some of the eastern regional GES directors to shield her devilish attitude ” they added.

After receiving the students petition, Municipal Education Director for Akuapem North Municipality, Mrs. Elizabeth Korkor Amanor has assured them of forwarding their petition to the regional education directorate and director general of education to conduct investigation into their accusations.

Following this, she asked the students to exercise patience and go back to classroom and learn, and assured them of addressing their claims.

However, the students heed to the advice of the Municipal Education Directorates, but warned that if nothing is done to their grievances before Monday, May 17, 2021, they will advice themselves in a manner that will suit and befit them.

Your 30 Day Prayers And Fasting Has Been A Blessing To Ghana…..E/R Min Praises

The Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong has said, the 30 days prayer and fasting by the Muslims has helped reduced Ghana’s cases of Covid-19.

According to the Minister, had it not been the prayers of our Muslims the second wave of the global coronavirus pandemic disease that hit the country would have gotten out of the hands, adding that this period of Ramadan have been a blessing in disguise.

Hon. Seth Acheampong continue, by urging Ghanaians to have in mind that the covid is still staying with us, hence everyone must observe all the protocols.

Hon. Reg. Min made these known at Koforidua Zongo during the prayers by the Muslims as they brought their 30 days prayers and fasting to an end.

Furthermore, the Eastern Regional Chief Imam Yussif Amudani Suleman said, they thank God ( Allah) for a successful fasting and prayer for how far he has brought them.

“Because they began this 30 days fasting and prayers with a lot of people but today some of them has kicked the bucket”. he added.

Chief Imam Amudani Suleman prayed for Nana Addo, his Veep Dr. Bawumia, his Ministers including MPs, and asked unto them God’s protection and guidance.

The Eastern Regional Deputy Nasara Coordinator for NPP, Adamu Musah Raha also advised Muslim youth in the region to understand that the country is not in good times.

“So I’m urging them to desist from things that goes against the covid protocols”.

Adding, nobody should ride motorbikes to make noise in town amidst celebrating this holy Eid-Ul-Fitr Ramadan festival.

I’m Excited Over Zero Maternal Death Recorded In 2020…..MP Hints

Hon. Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei,MP- Akuapem North Constituency

Legislature for Akuapem North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei has praised the health directorate in her constituency for recording zero maternal death under the 2020 year of review, and expressed her excitement over their performance.

“We pray this will continue in the rest of the years ahead of us, because if a mother lost her life during child birth in fact is very painful”.

Hon. MP added, the number of people who resides in her constituency keeps increasing thus, will have a dialogue with the ministry of health to give them more health personnels to provide quality health care to its citizenry in the Municipality.

Again Hon. Nana Ama Asiamah-Adjei revealed that, plans are being put in place to get another hospital to complement to the services of Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, the biggest and main hospital at Mampong-Akuapem to save more lives since Akuapem North has become a developing Municipality.

The Lawmaker said these to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during her first edition of Stakeholders Consultative Meeting at Amanokrom, dubbed; Akuapem North Constituency 2021; Consolidating our gains: Together Towards Tomorrow”.

The MCE for Akuapem North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Berima Asiedu-Larbi also lamented about the poor performance of the students in the municipality.

He said, gone are the days Akuapemman had lots of professors but it has become difficult for students offlate to get aggregate 6 in BECE or better results in WASSCE. A situation he described as very pathetic, stating that education is paramount to the good people of Akuapemman.

“If you come to Akuapem we don’t have lands for cocoa or oil palm plantation nor for farming but what we have here is our brains and it goes with education. So we the [parents] have a lot of work to do” stressed Hon. MCE.

This, he underscores how parents ensures their animals are caged before it’s 6pm, but fails to look for the whereabouts of their wards and bring them home whenever it’s late night, and described the manner as worrisome.

This he stated, parents think about their animals more than their kids education, adding that they[Stakeholders] will put measures in place to make sure parents in Akuapem focus much more on their children’s education more than any other things, because that’s the area where education first started.

Last but not the least, the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Acheampong who graced the programme also spoke with Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH and commended Hon. Nana Ama Dokua and her MCE Hon. Asiedu-Larbi for coming up with such programme.

He stressed, this programme will paved way for all the gov’t sectors in the constituency to come out and portrayed what they have done for the constituents to know the happenings going on in their constituency.

“Again its gives an opportunity to the constituents to asked questions about the things they don’t understand in the constituency and find solution to it and this is what we called it democracy “he said.

E/R : NADMO Donates Relief Items To Victims Of Akim Oda Heavy Rainstorm


National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has donated a relief items to the rainstorm victims of Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of Eastern Region.

The items that worth undisclosed huge amount of money were presented to those affected individuals whose properties were destroyed by heavy rainstorm on easter Monday, April 5,2021.

Some of the relief items include; blankets, pillows, mattresses, roofing sheets, clothes and many more.

Addressing the short ceremony held at Akim Oda, the Director General of NADMO, Nana Agyemang Prempeh indicated that, most buildings in Ghana are old and needed to be demolished to save people’s lives.

“But if you try to do that, the owners of such buildings will paint you with a certain political party’s colour and even threatened to vote against the MP of that constituency for allowing their buildings to be demolished by either the assembly or NADMO officials”

“Gone are the days, our forefathers used to do maintenance on their buildings( houses) especially when we are approaching a rainy season to prevent any unforeseen tragedy but today the culture of maintenance is no more in existence and that is what is destroying our country” he opined.

He therefore made a humble appeal to the general public especially those whose buildings are on the verge of collapsing to allow themselves for the various assemblies or NADMO officials to demolished such buildings to save lives, since those structures can cause harm through collapsing.

Furthermore, the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Acheampong thanked the Director General of NADMO and his team for their kind gesture.

The minister then recalled that faithful easter monday when he first had a distress phone call from the MP of the constituency, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah concerning the incident, a situation he said gave him a headache over where he was going to received support to enable assist the affected victims numbering over 500.

“First all when I heard the news, I stopped whatever I was doing and rushed to Akim Oda and in fact when we got to the scene it was very terrible situation and I have to talk to the victims to restraint patience” he recounted.

This, Hon. Seth Acheampong expressed his excitement over how the victims has finally been relieved by NADMO with the relief items.

Moreover, the senior presidential adviser to the Pres at the presidency, Hon. Nana Yaw Osafo Marfo also showed his gratitude to NADMO for their intervention to the victims of Akim Oda.

However he ceased the opportunity and begged the chiefs of Akim Oda to bring their chieftaincy dispute to an end, quizzing, how that could be the cause of this disaster.

The senior presidential adviser again charged the council of local churches members in the area to pray for the chiefs of Akim Oda to come nerves down.

Hon. Osafo Marfo hinted that, Pres. Nana Addo have heard their chieftaincy dispute and he has taken steps about the issue,, adding that anytime soon the chiefs of the area will be invited by Mr. Pres to the Jubilee House to see how possible best they can finally solved it to bring peace, unity and togetherness amongst the chiefs of Akim Oda.

All these were brought to light during the handing over of the relief items by NADMO to the victims of the Birim Central Municipality after they got hit with a heavy rainstorm.

Some dignitaries that attended the ceremony were Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, MP-Akim Oda Constituency, Hon. Victoria Adu Badu, MCE-Birim Central Municipality, Mr. Kwame Appiah Kodua, E/R NADMO director, clergy and nanaanom of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area.

Ramadan: Muslim Group Donates To The Needy

A group of Muslims of various nationalities based in Germany at the weekend donated some assorted items to seven Muslim communities in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region to finish up the Ramadan fast.

The group which has established friendship with a number of Muslim communities namely Sabon zongo, Wangara line, Moshie zongo, Wala zongo, Kotokoli lane and zongo Illiasu, all within the municipality.

The donation which was on the theme; “Eat Less, Feed More” was to help the Muslims especially the less privilege in society who are currently going on with the Ramadan fast to have enough to eat when they break or want to do their fast each day.

The items which included rice, sugar and oil among others were given to individual needy Muslims comprising widows, the aged and persons with disability.

The donation would be extended to cover other zongo communities in future Ramadan.

Alhaji Iddrisu Salifu who made the donation on behalf of his brother, Alhaji Suliman Wahab, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tuo Lada Ramadan Food Programme for the Needy, said this year the group served 190 needy persons within the communities.

According to him, the items were to be used for the Ramadan fast, and that the gesture was to show love and kindness to the beneficiaries to enable them observe the Ramadan fast without any difficulties.

Alhaji Salifu said it was to support the Muslim communities to undertake the fast with ease.

He noted that the Ramadan offered a time for spiritual growth for the individual, and it was important that Muslims were able to undertake the fast with some level of comfort.

Alhaji Salifu said the group members who came together and contributed to support the beneficiary communities during this year’s Ramadan fast included Mr Fatin, Mr Musa Atta, Mr Umar Ghassem and Mr Zekeriya Celik.

One of the beneficiaries, Hajia Mariama Mustapha lauded the group for the continued and varied support to the communities, saying the donation came at the right time.

Mother’s Day Celebration: Children Urged To Stop Maltreating Their Mothers

Mrs. Lizbeth Anane, National women’s leader of Leaders Light Int’l Church

The National Women’s Leader of Leaders Light Int’l Church, Mrs. Lizbeth Anane has admonised Ghanian children who normally maltreated their mothers to put a stop to it as soon as possible as we celebrate them today.

This she said, its very disturbing to see children of today accusing their mothers wrongly about things they know nothing about, and later begins beating or doing painful things to them because of hearsays about their parents.

According to Mrs. Anane, mothers are very scarce, and not everyone has one, hence the need to treat every mother with care and love is necessary than maltreating them.

“Again is not every mother who conceived and carried her baby in her stomach for 9 months. So if your mother has been able to carried you in her stomach for 9 months and given birth to you, you don’t have to treat her bad” she added.

Mrs. Lizbeth Anane then explained that; a good mother is someone who gives birth to her children by way of helping them reach certain level in life as well as raising them with the word of God.

She told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH in an interview during the mother’s day anniversary celebration church service at Koforidua.

However, district secretary for the Koforidua branch of Leaders Light International Church, Mrs. Alberta Ayeh-Kwapong used the opportunity to advised the youth to take good care of themselves, and also listen to their mother’s teachings, because that’s the only way to help them achieve their aims and aspirations in life.

She also charged them to humble themselves and respect their mothers.

Mrs. Ayeh-Kwapong tasked the youth to let the truth leads them in everything they do to bring glory to themselves and their mothers as well.
