Mr. Charles Osei Opoku, a worker at Ghana Cocoa Board has defeated Mr. Kwame Boamah Dwira, the incumbent Chairman for NPP in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region to claimed the chairmanship seat with 670 votes.

Mr. Kwame Boamah Dwira obtained 161 votes ( incumbent) whiles Mr. Charles Osei Opoku also polls out 831 votes in their just ended Constituency Executives Elections. Out of the expected 1012 delegates, only 992 cast their vote.

Speaking with Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Mr. Osei Opoku gave thanks to God for given him the victory. He also show appreciation to the delegates who had confidence in him and voted him as their new constituency chairman.

He said, breaking the 8 won’t come on a silver platter but rather it requires a hard work, therefore it will need the services of everyone on board to make it a reality.

Mr. Charles Opoku adds, NPP is the only gov’t that can develop Ghana thus he urged Ghanaians to maintain them in power come 2024 general elections to continue their good works.

Meanwhile, in the position of the Treasurer another humiliated result occurred.

The incumbent treasurer, Silas Agyekum also lost heavily to Daniel Opoku. Out of the 991 total vote cast, Mr. Daniel Opoku obtained 841 as against that of Mr. Silas Agyekum 152.

Speaking with Kingdom News, the newly elected treasurer, Mr. Opoku said, the key objective of treasurer is to mobilize funds for the grassroot members and that is exactly what he has targeted.

He also said, he has opened an account with 200₵ as seed money for all the 34 electoral areas in the New Juaben South Constituency.

A situation he described as, the welfare of the people is his priority.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, has boycotted this year’s Edil-Fitir worship that was held to climax the Ramadan fasting periods observed by Muslims globally.

The worship ceremony was staged at the Koforidua Central Mosque.

The Ramadan which was scheduled to kick start on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 9:00am, started at about 9:45 am following the Minister’s expectance.

However, with his inability to avail himself to grace the occasion, he fails to assigned anyone in his absence.

To worsen matters, the MCE for New Juaben South, Isaac Appaw Gyasi and his MP, Michael Okyere Baafi who were also expected failed to show up.

Responding to the development, the aid to the Minister, Rockson, said, it was not a deliberate move because, Mr. Acheampong had an emergency call where he had to attend to an equally important duty at Mampong in the Akuapem South Municipality.

The Eastern Regional Chief Imam, Yusif Amudani Suleman after the worship prayed and asked for peace for the Nation.

Dr. Samuel Twumasi-Ankrah, the President of Heritage Christian College has expressed worry over the spate of indiscipline behaviour amongst some graduates in the country.

“If the students don’t develop the spirit of discipline behaviour and sacrifice themselves to do the work that has been entrusted under their care, then it will affect their career in the future” he noted.

According to him, many graduates being it degree, diploma, PhD, masters holder are unemployed due to their lack of self discipline

Dr. Twumasi Ankrah indicate, no employee would like to employ someone whose attitude towards work is very bad.

He made these known during the 6th matriculation of Heritage Christian College at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.

He further observed that not only graduates lacks the humor of discipline but also applies to the leaders of the country.

To buttressed his claimed, Mr. Ankrah worried over how politicians move with motorcade to flaunt traffics regulations, a situation which clearly indicates their level of indiscipline in the country.

He then used the opportunity and adviced the students to be discipline and learn hard to make their parents proud after school.

On his part, Professor Evertt W. Huffard of Leadership and Missions at Harding School of Theology, who was a guest at the program, urged students not to hesitate to ask for questions from their teachers if they don’t understand what they are being taught.

“There is lot of life challenges that affect your academic growth and what you do here is not just learning knowledge but you’re also learning to mature”

“…And sometimes you can’t feel well like that and you don’t go to lectures to get it. As a result you need someone to coach or mentor you when you don’t understand what’s next” he told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.

The Chief Executive officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Mr. Joseph Boahen Aiddo on last week yesterday, April 16,2022 paid a day field inspection tour to the Boadi Cocoa District to familiarize himself for the progress of work of the rehabilitated Cocoa farms which were affected by the cocoa swollen shoot viral disease (CSSVD).

Addressing a durbar organized in his honor at Tawiakrom in the Bodi cocoa District, Mr. Joseph Aiddo advised the farmers to desist from using of chemicals or weedicides on their cocoa farms because the ”24D” which is a chemical in the weedicides is dangerous to the soil, and it kills almost all the nutrients in it, which set as food for the soil, and that can affect the smooth growth of the cocoa plants and it is also affecting the cocoa rehabilitation program by the Government.

Mr. Boahen Aiddo cautioned the cocoa farmers to do away with burning their cleared lands before planting, hence it also kills the nutrients in the soil.

The Ghana Cocoa Board Boss further retreated his outfit readiness to provide all the necessary materials and tools needed by farmers who are willing to cut down their cocoa farms affected by the swollen shoot viral disease, be it labour, tool, plantain seedlings or cocoa seedlings.

”Nananuom, government led by Nana Addo Dankwah Akoffo Addo had secured a loan meant for the cocoa rehabilitation program, we are ready to provide all the necessary cocoa farming materials and input to all the farmers who are ready for their cocoa farms affected by the cocoa swollen shoot viral disease to be cut, as we all know we have already putting in place the weeding gangs who are working on your farms for two years, before handing over your farm to you,” he said.

In his response, the chief of Tawiakrom Nana Kojo Adjei, thanked the Chief Executive officer for his visit and promised his readiness to also involved in the campaign and education of the cocoa rehabilitation program especially to those in his area.

‘We the chiefs and elders of Tawiakrom will from today join the campaign and education for the cocoa rehabilitation program, because we all know cocoa is Ghana and Ghana is cocoa and we need to revive the dying of the cocoa farms especially in this area known as the area of cocoa some years ago,” he promised.

The General Overseer of Leaders Light International Church, Dr. Samuel Dadzie, has reiterated that Easter Festivity is not centered on celebration as portrayed by many across the globe.

According to him, Easter festive is meant to recalled the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus as a result of sacrificing himself to save the world from their sins.

“Christians must live an exemplary life when marking the Easter season for the whole world to know who Jesus Christ is; for them to change their ways and come to follow him” he stressed.

Apostle Dr Dadzie added “Easter festival is not meant for enjoyment purposes” likewise what transpires annually in Kwahu.

He told Kingdom TV/FM KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during the Easter Convention held at the Nkawkaw branch of the Church in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.

To strengthen the Church core mandate, they used the opportunity and inaugurated a seven member committee made up of national youth executives. Their sole responsibility is to win souls for Christ.

Advising them, Apostle Dadzie urged the committee not to allow the position given them to feel pompous amidst exhibiting signs of arrogant before leaders of the Church.

“Some people when given positions they think they are superior than their masters and they become disrespectful to them which is very disturbing” he noted.

He further underscores blessings in serving therefore asked them to remain humility whilst sacrificing to bear God’s rewards.

Bringing his speech to a conclusion, he advised drivers transporting passengers to the Kwahu Easter celebration to drive with care to avoid road crushes.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa South District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Ernest Ofosu has threatened to held the management of Osino Islamic Basic School responsible for allowing illegal miners (galamseyers) to mined at the back of their school compound.

It came to light on Monday, April 11, 2022 after school vacation that, some people were doing illegal galamsey at Osino Roman Catholic Basic School park and Osino Islamic Basic School respectively.

However, in a follow up by Kingdom TV/FM KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH indicated the iota of truth in the development.

Speaking with Kingdom News, Mr. Ofosu said, upon his visitation to the aforementioned Schools, came to light how havoc the galamseyers caused within short period, a situation he mentioned as ‘shocking’ about the operation.

He said doing galamsey at the back of a school building endanger the life of the school children. Adding that, the activities of galamsey destroys water bodies and lands in the country.

“The headmaster, Sariki, and the school management committee can’t convince me they don’t know anything about it; hence they have questions to be answered”, he stressed.

“About the Roman Catholic Basic School issue, their park slopes, as a result, the Church brought some people to come and level it for them so that the school children can play football on it. But later they realise the grader is grading deep into the land so they stopped them”, Mr DCE explained.

The residents who reside at the Osino Islamic Basic School alleged to Kingdom News that the galamseyers claimed the land have been sold to them by unknown residents.

According to them, during the mining, the buildings around the place got shaken of which some youth in the area attack and fought the excavator driver and his people to stop the work and leave the place.

“We don’t understand why should a school compound be given out for galamsey activity. We are pleading with the Gov’t to come to our aid and do something about the situation for us.

Meanwhile, the MP for the Constituency, Mr. Kofi Okyere-Agyekum on his part said, the leadership of Osino Roman Catholic Church have on several occasions appealed to him to come and level the park for them.

Mr. Okyere – Agyekum adds, the park slopes so whenever the school children are playing football on it, it doesn’t favour those who play from the downside of the park to the topside of the park. Always those who plays from the topside score those playing from the downside of the park.

“I was very surprise to hear on air that, some people are saying galamsey activity is going on at the R/C Basic school park and is untrue. But rather is just an attempt to level the park for the school children to play on it”, he noted.

Works has commenced on the long awaited deplorable 14 km road network from Akim New Tafo to Akim Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region.

The start point of the 14Km road under construction is Engen Junction at New Tafo.

Kingdom News speaking with Alhaji Umar Babs Kofi Bodinga, the Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North Municipality said, the poor state of the road has being a headache since he assumed office as MCE.

He noted that, the road, when completed, will become a huge relief for the people of the counstituency.

Alhaji Umar Bodinga also observed that he’s adamant construction firm, ‘General Construction Limited’, in charge of the project would do a genuine work due to their track record.

He then used the opportunity to charged some contractors who are working on the Anyinasin to Old Tafo and Nobi to Anweabeng stretches to fastrack their works to enable them complete the projects on the expected time frame.

According to him, the municipality and other districts in the region rely on those towns for food stuff since they are farming communities.

Mr. MCE told Kingdom TV/FM KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH when he went to the site to inspect the ongoing 14km road construction in the Municipality. He added, the commencement of this road construction came into a reality through the hardwork of my Sister, Mrs. Gifty Twum Ampofo, the MP for the constituency and am grateful to her.

Some drivers who ply the stretch expressed their excitement for seeing the said roads under construction.

According to them, they spent most of their gains to purchase spare parts to fix their vehicles because of the bad nature of the road.

Adding that, a lot of complaints were made about the poor state of the road therefore they’re grateful to the Member of Parliament of the area, Gifty Twum Ampofo and the MCE, Mr. Bodinga for listening to their public cry.

Meanwhile, the foreman of the General Construction Limited, Eric Agyemang, indicate, is optimistic that the project will be completed the end of 2022.

He also pleaded with the drivers to slow down whenever they get to the working sites to avoid causing any harm.

Mr. Agyemang then called on shop owners along the road reservation of the affected roads to temporarily relocate to pave way for the smooth implementation of the road network.

Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister has indicate that, measures have been put in place to ensure that all the 33 Municipal and District Assemblies in the region become clean.

He said, sanitation is one of his topmost priority thus a seven member committee called “The Face Lifting of the Eastern Region” has been set up to make sure the residents of the region abide by the laws and clean their environment regular.

Mr Kwame Acheampong adds, last week Wednesday, March 9, 2021, they embarked on decongestion exercise in Koforidua and it will be extended to the rest of the municipal and districts assemblies in the region.

“To prevent damaging people’s items especially those who sell at the pedestrian walkways, the security personnel are engaging with them to vacate from those areas before they find themselves wanting “, he noted.

“When we embarked on decongestion exercise in Koforidua, now all the various streets are clean. A situation he described as ” Sanitation is a collective responsibility of everybody”, he stressed.

He told the media when marking his 1yr anniversary as the eastern regional minister after taken over from the former RM, Mr. Eric Kwakye Darfour.

“Mr. Kwakye Darfour did tremendously well and am here to continue his good works to develop the region”, he noted.

He went ahead to show his appreciation to Prez Akufo-Addo for appointing him to represent him in the region.

“Again am grateful to my party members led by Chairman Kingsley Okomeng Kissi and all the 33 Municipal and District Chief Executives for accepting and working with me for the past 1yr.

Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong also thanked the Chiefs and the security personnel for restoring peace in the region.

Last but not the least, he commended the eastern regional fire command led by Jennifer Afoley Quaye for their quick intervention to quench off the fire that gut the fuel tanker on Osino-Nsutem road yesterday.

“Their good works help prevent any unforeseen tragedy despite the fuel tanker burnt beyond recognition” he added.

A circuit court in Koforidua has given the police a one month period to complete investigations and charge suspects involved in the attack on the Asamakese chief’s palace and subsequently aiding the installation of a parallel chief.

The court granted the plea of the Attorney General on Tuesday, February 22 to allow the police investigators to conduct a ballistic forensic examination on weapons retrieved from suspects during the raid on December, 20 last year.

The court presided over by his Honour, Kwame Polley wants prosecution led by, David Hodanu, to expedite investigations in the case involving thirty one (31) suspects.

The court had granted bail to the suspects after they appeared before it a few months ago.

They were arrested after thugs – allegedly hired by a faction in the chieftaincy dispute, Barima Pobi Asomaning – besieged the Asamankese palace to aid the performance of traditional rites for his enstoolment as a parallel Chief.

The armed thugs violently invaded the palace amidst the firing of gunshots.

According to a police report, nine (9) persons sustained injuries and were treated at the Asamankese Government Hospital.

The Police in the cause of the arrest retrieved and seized 52 AA spent shells, one sidearm with 2 loaded magazines and one pump action gun from the Suspects.

Barima Pobi Asomaning has been claiming legitimacy to the Asamankese stool.

The revelation that the current occupant, Osabarima Adu Darko III has been gazetted was believed to have triggered the violent incident.

The overlord of the area, Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin after incident implored the Ghana Police Service to restore peace and order to the Asamankese traditional area.

According to him, the impasse which resulted in the seizure and occupation of the Asamankese palace was an assault on the dignity and integrity of Okyeman.

In a statement reacting to the events, the Okyenhene clarified that “Osabarima Adu Darko III remains the legitimate Chief of Asamankese; thus the purported installation of Barima Pobi Asomanin II, is unlawful, irregular, uncustomary, and an aberration of Akyem Abuakwa custom and therefore null, void, and of no effect.”

He further stated that the said impasse had already been resolved in favour of Osabarima Adu Darko III and Barima Pobi Asomanin II fined

The case has been rescheduled to March, 24.
