The New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang says the ruling government is retaining power hence Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will take over from President Akufo-Addo.

According to him, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is the flagbearer of the NPP has been well-marketed therefore he entreats the youth of the party particularly those in the area to help propagate the good works of the party to Ghanaians to enable his dream of becoming a president reality.

Dr. Agyemang emphasized that there is no contest in the Abuakwa South Constituency as far as the 2024 polls are concerned, stating that the Abuakwa South work is communal labor because the NDC party members in the area will vote for NPP to continue reigning.

The Abuakwa South Parliamentary Candidate who doubles as the Executive Director for Ghana’s Scholarship Secretariat made this known during the inauguration of the Abuakwa South Constituency’s Youth Wings. They are mandatory to do evidence-based campaigning on the government’s policies.

“If Kingsley can continue doing developmental projects and offer a helping hand to people in the constituency then the youth have a key role to play in the 2024 general elections to retain NPP in power,” added Dr. Kingsley Agyemang.

To add up, the Youth Organizer of the Constituency, Nana Kwaku Amoako mentioned that the motive behind the program is to mobilize the youth in Abuakwa South to embark on a massive campaign for Dr. Bawumia to become Ghana’s next President amid breaking break the eight-year term.

“As for our Parliamentary Candidate, he has won the seat in advance looking at what he has done for the constituents. However, our main target is to put in much effort to give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia 95% of the votes to make him President to succeed President Nana Addo,” he told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.

The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region, Abena Osei-Asare has stated that the New Patriotic Party performed tremendously well when they assumed power in 2017 to date.

According to her, all the work the NPP government has done in the last 7 years in the country is visible to everyone and the its fair share.

The Atiwa East Lawmaker who doubles as the Minister of State in charge of Finance stressed that the good works being done by their government have had a positive impact on many lives therefore they deserved another nod come the 2024 elections to do more developmental projects for Ghanaians.

Madam Osei-Asare made this assertion on Saturday, June 8, 2024, during the launch of the NPP’s Campaign Team in Atiwa East Constituency. The constituted team is expected to oversee the campaign activities in the area while championing the ideas and policies of the party to residents for votes in the upcoming general elections.

She then pleaded with the electorates in the constituency to refrain from the skirt-and-blouse attitude and vote for her and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to break the 8-year jinx to continue transforming the country for the unborn generation.

The Chairman of the Constituency, Albert Nuamah noted that the Atiwa East in the 2020 elections, added 5% votes to that of President Nana Addo but has targeted to give 80% votes to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2024 for victory to become theirs. He believes it is possible looking at the infrastructure projects being carried out by their MP.

He entreated all and sundry to rally their support behind Abena Osei-Asare to be maintained as MP to go and represent them in Parliament and lobbied for more developmental projects for the Constituency.

On behalf of the traditional rulers in the area, Abekoasehene, Berima Appiah Akroma Acheampong commended the NPP government and the MP of the area for working collaboratively to develop Atiwa East and Ghana as a whole especially the implementation of the Free SHS policy, indicating that such government deserved continuation.

The Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Kofi Okyere Agyekum has asked former President John Dramani Mahama and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to forget about winning the 2024 general elections.

Afarat as popularly called in the political terrain stated that Mr. Mahama has been tickling himself and laughing with the notion that the December 7 polls were a done deal for his party.

According to the Fanteakwa South Lawmaker although Ghanaians voted for John Mahama in 2012, due to his bad governance and abysmal performance they voted him out in the 2016 elections with over 1 million and 500,000 votes margins.

Something, in his view, is not an exception to the upcoming election owning to the previous two elections (2016, 2020), citing pending defeat to the latter because nothing was going to change the minds of the general public since his tenure in office as president was woeful.

Kofi Okyere Agyekum exclaimed that ‘Ghanaians would humiliate and punish him by voting massively against him and his NDC party to teach them a lesson that they don’t want them to come and mess up with the economy again.’

Okyere Agyekum was speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH on the sideline during the launch of the Atiwa East Constituency’s campaign team for the 2024 election.

In conclusion, he opined that every Ghanaian citizen both at home and abroad can testify to the good works of the NPP government led by President Nana Akufo-Addo Addo and his Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, entreating Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia on December 7th to do more of their current feat.

Ahead of the forthcoming December 7 General elections, the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong has admonished all and sundry to embrace peace.

According to him, Ghana has come far in respect of holding peaceful elections, therefore it shouldn’t be taken for granted by way of giving room for violence.

Mr. Acheampong added that it is the responsibility of every Ghanaian to protect the sanctity of our democracy and its gains thus calling for a collaborative effort to maintain peace before, during, and after the exercise.

The Eastern Regional Minister made these remarks during the 2024 Greening Ghana Day program held in Effiduase.

“I thank all of you for your massive participation and support in making the 2024 edition of Green Day in the region a success, let us continue working together for a greener tomorrow,” he added.

The Eastern Regional Manager for the Forestry Commission, Isaac Noble Eshun on his part noted that forests and trees had been observed to be an invaluable resource to mankind providing food and materials for making the earth very habitable among other things.

“However, to maximize the benefits the forest provides and due to sheer greed, mankind has in the recent past engaged in activities that fell trees indiscriminately,” he opined.

Isaac Eshun said that it is generally accepted that reforestation and restoration of degraded landscapes can help repair much of the damage that the activities of man have caused to the earth.

“These drew the attention of President Akufo Addo to introduce this initiative of committing every citizen and resident to get involved in planting trees in Green Ghana.”

He revealed that since 2022, over 42 million trees have been planted by the general following the tree planting initiatives.

The Fanteakwa South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region successfully observed the nationwide Green Ghana Day on Friday, June 7, 2024.

The program held at Akyem Juaso had in attendance the Member of Parliament of the area, Kofi Okyere Agyekum together with staff of the Kibi Goldfields Company Limited.

Representatives made up of students from Osino Presbyterian Senior High Technical School also joined the national exercise for tree seedling planting.

The district as part of its efforts to complement the national exercise planted 65,000 tree seedlings out of a total number of 700,000 targeted by the region.

Speaking at the program, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa South, Ernest Ofosu, was full of praises to President Akufo-Addo for making the tree planting initiative possible and an annual occasion.

According to him, the decision stems from the climate changes in the country due to the activities of man to avert its negative consequences to human lives.

“Most of the trees we planted in the last three years have survived and this shows a positive sign that should everybody get involved, we can make Ghana green again to protect our destroyed forest, lands, and water bodies,” he opined.

The Member of Parliament of the area, Kofi Okyere Agyekum commended the Kibi Goldfield Company Limited for rightfully engaging in mining in the area to reclaim most of the lands and release them to the Forestry Commission to plant trees to save lives.

Kofi Agyekum underscores the importance of tree planting in our daily activities, stressing it is the collective responsibility of all to plant at least one tree in their various homes.

He entreated the Forestry Commission and the general public to take good care of the trees it planted in 2021 to date to enable achieve its purpose.

In his submission, the Deputy Managing Director for the Kibi Goldfield Mining Company Limited, Kofi Darfuor Darteh mentioned that they have released 20 acres of reclaimed lands in Akyem Juaso for the National Tree Planting program.

He noted that, since their inception in 2012, they had been committed to responsible and sustainable mining practices, indicating their commitment goes beyond mere compliance.

Kofi Darteh added that each one had a role to play in protecting the precision resources that sustain life on earth by planting trees which will not only apply to investment for the future but also for the future generations.

The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region, Abena Osei-Asare says Ghanaians should kick against any political party that associates itself with hooliganism in the upcoming December 7 elections.

She rather entreats the Ghanaian populace to give the nod to a peaceful-oriented political party that can govern the country well.

The Atiwa East Legislator who doubles as the Minister of State in charge of Finance stated that peace plays a crucial role in nation-building however, hooliganism retards development.

“Peace is a very expensive commodity that no one can purchase, that’s why we must protect ours and vote against political parties that will come and temper with the peace bestowed on us,” said Madam Osei-Asare.

She gave this piece of advice at Anyinam when she presented 10 brands of new registered work and pay vehicles comprising 9 taxes and 1 mini pick-up to some drivers in her constituency. She also presented free mechanical toolboxes to 15 mechanics to enable them to train their apprentices.

The initiative forms part of her OBAATAPA EMPOWERMENT SCHEME which seems to create job opportunities for the youth in the area.

Emphasising peace in the forthcoming elections Madam Osei-Asare believes there is no political party in the country with a good track record on the subject than the ruling government.

“New Patriotic Party is the only political party that stands for peace and development, that is why Ghanaians need to vote for our Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to come and continue the good works of President Akufo Addo so that the country can enjoy its coexistence and peace.”

She added by advising that “On December 7, go out and cast your vote, if there is any chaos at the polling centers don’t get yourself involved just handle the troublemaker to the police and go home to avoid any unforeseen tragedy that will distract the peace of this country.”

Her call came on the back of the stabbing of the son of former Sanitation Minister -Hawa Koomson at Kasoa in the ongoing voter transfer exercise.

Commenting on the development, the Atiwa East MP described it as worrying and underscores the need for the general public to keep practicing peace before during, and after every poll.

In his voice, the party’s Chairman for the area, Albert Nuamah said the welfare of the Atiwa constituents is very keen to Madam Abena Osei-Asare thus her numerous initiatives.

Owning to this, he is adamant the empowerment scheme will go a long way to have a positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries and also create job opportunities to help reduce unemployment rates in the area.

“Since Abena Osei-Asare became the Atiwa East Member of Parliament, she has done a lot for the constituents and it is about time we also show her love by voting massively for her come the 2024 general to be able to do more infrastructure projects to transform Atiwa East,” he added.

Anyinamhene, Berima Okogyea Ebusua Benyin Doudu who chaired the program advised the leaders of the various driver unions across the country especially those in Anyinam to put in place good measures and policies that will protect the welfare of drivers because their contributions cannot be left out in the country’s development.

“Make good use of the vehicles received to be able to pay the monies in the time frame given so it becomes beneficial to others who also need the same support from the MP, and believe in doing so, Atiwa East Constituency will develop and issues of unemployment would be a thing of the past,” he said.

A 20-year-old teenager from Australia, Barbara Anna Beck has through education extended her support to the people of Asempaneye, a suburb of Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region.

The gesture of the Australian who doubles as a philanthropist comes after commissioning a newly built fully funded edifice that will serve as a classroom block for Junior High School (JHS) students.

The commissioning of the facility to house students of JHS One and Two took place at Asempaneye, a suburb of Tinkong was joined by the Mawerehene of the area, Osuodumgya Yaw Gyebaah, Akuapem North MCE, Berima Sarpong Asiedu-Larbi, the School Management among other dignitaries.

In 2022, the project donor on a tour of Ghana came across the plight of Asempaneye residents where their only primary school established in the 1970s has no JHS block thus children who complete basic school level are compelled to walk far distances to enable them access JHS education.

Barbara Anna Beck was thus touched by the situation and decided to construct a JHS block for the people with a fully furnished library and headmaster’s office to enhance teaching and learning in the area.

Speaking at a brief ceremony during the commissioning, the 20-year-old Australian philanthropist expressed her excitement over the development, adding that the burden of the residents most particularly school children is now considered a thing of the past.

According to her, education has become key and significant to humanity, therefore, it requires the provision of quality education to all and sundry.

“Education is one important aspect of human rights and responsibilities for everyone to be able to learn how to read and write,” Babara Anna opined.

She noted that putting up this JHS edifice for the people of Asempaneye to help improve the education in the community is dear to her.

The Headmistress of the Asempaneye Basic School, Ruby Esinam Glova on behalf of the school management showed her appreciation to the donor and her team for the kind gesture.

She appealed to the government, philanthropists, and individuals to come to their aid by following the footsteps of Babara Anna to construct a building to serve as the JHS 3 block.

Madam Esinam Glova who took over the school with a population of 32 in September 2013 was happy that her efforts and sacrifices made to ensure the growth of the school have finally paid off since the current rise in enrollment is a testament.

Among her efforts and gestures included providing learning materials such as books, pencils, pens, erasers, uniforms, sandals, and food for needy students just to create an atmosphere of punctuality.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akuapem North Municipal Assembly, Berima Awuah Sarpong Asiedu-Larbi pleaded with parents in Asempaneye and its environment to take a keen interest in their wards’ education by providing them all the needed educational materials to bolster their level of acquiring knowledge for a better future.

The New Patriotic Party’s Women’s Wing in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region as part of the observation of the World Menstruation Hygiene Day donated 10 boxes of sanitary pads to each of the selected schools in the constituency.

The beneficiary schools are; Apempoa Islamic Primary School, New Juaben Senior High School, Trom Nyerede M/A Basic School, Ascension Presbyterian M/A Basic School ‘A’, Pentecost Senior High School, and St. Dominic Catholic Basic School.

The women’s wing also educated the female students on how to keep themselves clean as well as where to dispose of the sanitary pads after using them.

However, they urged the boys against the stigmatization and teasing of their colleague female students when they see them soiling themselves because it is not an abomination for a young girl to be menstruation.

Speaking to Kingdom News, the Woman Organizer for New Juaben South Constituency, Regina Bempong who spearheaded the program noted that the meaningful of their visit complemented the donation gesture on such an important day.

According to her, one of their goals is to that the issue of sanitary pads among teenagers does not affect their academics as they would love to see these girls rise to become influential in active politics in the country.

John Huckson Arthur, who spoke on behalf of the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency, Michael Okyere Baafi stated that the stigmatization among women when menstruating in the olden days led to polygamy marriages.

“In those days when a woman was menstruating, they were not allowed to share things with their husbands, and the husbands had to go and stay with their siblings, but those practices were uncalled-for.”

He added, “Many women who could have led in politics in Ghana dropped out of school because they soiled themselves and their colleagues teased them that is why Michael Okyere Baafi has partnered with his women’s wings and have taken it upon themselves to educate both the male and female students in his constituency to understand that menstruation is not a taboo.”

A situation, he indicated does not want to reoccur because Ghana needs more women to indulge in partisan politics to help transform the country.

Some beneficiary students of New Juaben Senior High School thanked the women’s wing for their kind gesture and pleaded with the government to abolish the taxes on sanitary pads because the prices of pads have become expensive nowadays.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa West District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Paddy Amponsah Douglas says the Electoral Commission’s two-day extension to the limited voter registration exercise is not enough.

He applauded the commission for their decision but was quick to express his disappointment about the extension days as he felt one week could have been more essential.

Mr. Amponsah Douglas, according to him, the registration exercise is very important to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) because every political party needs numbers to win elections and these numbers would come from nowhere but eligible voters who are registered members to enable them to exercise their franchise in the 2024 election.

He added that they will put in much effort to make sure that those who have turned 18 years and above and have traveled outside the constituency return home and register to vote for Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to become the next President of Ghana come 2025.

Explaining why the NPP deserves another term the DCE said “President Akufo Addo has done a lot for Ghana and he has to hand the baton to Dr. Bawumia to come and continue his good work, not someone who will come and destroy his legacy.’

The registration exercise which commenced on May 7 was to come to an end on 27 but due to technical challenges experienced in the first two days, the Electoral Commission (EC) extended the exercise to May 29, 2024, to offer opportunities for all qualified voters to register.

The Atiwa West DCE said this in an interview with Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH after he embarked on a monitoring exercise at various registration centers in the area.

Atiwa West Constituency since the beginning of the registration exercise on May 7 to May 27, 2024, has registered more than 1,000 new voters.

Hundreds of individuals participated in the Aristocrats Fraternity’s annual health walk exercise on Saturday, May 25, 2024. The event, now in its third edition, commenced at the Ayi Mensah toll booth and concluded at the Peaduase Lodge.

Following the walk, Berima Amoako Darko, a Patron of the Aristocrats Fraternity and the Suhum Akyempemhene, emphasized the importance of regular physical activity for maintaining good health and longevity. He stressed the significance of prioritizing health above all else.

The Aristocrats Confraternity, a nonpartisan organization comprising individuals from various backgrounds, including traditional leaders, politicians, businessmen, and healthcare professionals, aims to give back to society and promote positive change.

As Ghana prepares for the 2024 elections, the Suhum Akyempemhene announced plans to collaborate with the Peace Council, Civil Society Organizations, and the Local Council of Churches to advocate for peace and ensure transparent, free, and fair elections.

Professor Dr. Emmanuel Apem Darko, the CEO of the Kwayisi Christian Herbal Clinic and a proud member of the fraternity, advised the public to engage in at least 30 minutes of exercise weekly, citing its numerous health benefits such as reducing sugar levels, cholesterol, and stabilizing blood pressure.

Founder and Chairman of the Aristocrat Fraternity, Ohene Danqua Agyeman Duah, highlighted the importance of prioritizing health, especially for individuals with busy schedules.

He underscored the organization’s commitment to supporting community development, particularly in the Eastern Region where their headquarters is located in Koforidua.

The event was attended by dignitaries such as former Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, Ransford Agyapong, Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Ebenezer Tetteh, and Mr. Afasi Komla, the African Director of Engage Africa.

Ohene Danqua Agyeman Duah expressed gratitude to all participants for their support and contribution to the success of the mega health walk.
