The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has honored Rev. Dr. Charles Fosu-Ayarkwah, the Principal of Kibi Presbyterian College of Education(KIPCOE), by naming a Children’s Church at Akyem Apedwa after him.
The Trinity Congregation, located in the Abuakwa South municipality, was named after a revered figure in recognition of his service, commitment, and dedication toward the church’s growth.
The naming of the Children’s Church was led by Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Professor Seth Asare Danso.

Speaking at the commissioning of Trinity Congregation Children’s Church, Rev. Prof. Asare Danso explained what it entails when a church names a facility after one of its members.
He said that before the Presbyterian Church would name any of its buildings after anybody it passes through many channels to ensure that the person in question has sacrificed, worked hard, and contributed in diverse ways in the Church before the General Council of the Church issues the green light for the building to be named after that person.
He indicated that when Rev. Dr. Fosu-Ayarkwah were posted to Apedwa Trinity Congregation in 2019, children in the church were worshipping at someone’s house, and they had to cross the road to get there, which posed danger to their lives.

“At that time, the Church had already commenced the construction of the building, but got stuck and abandoned it. But when Rev. Dr. Charles Fosu-Ayarkwah took over as the area minister, he quickly solicited funds from his friends, NGOs, institutions, and his family members to complete the project within 7 months for the Children in the Church to get a place of convenience to worship God and deserve to be honored while he is alive to appreciate his good works for the Church,” he noted.
Rev. Dr. Charles Fosu-Ayarkwah thanked the Church, especially their Moderator, Right Reverend Doctor Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, for recognizing his efforts and contributions to the Church and honoring him, indicating that he won’t forget this day in his life.

He expressed concern about how youth of the country are engaging in illicit drug abuse to destroy their lives and future, stating that if he had engaged in the same lifestyle, he wouldn’t have been honored by the leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, and urged the youth to refrain from such activity.
“The statistics indicated that Ghana is ranked number one in Africa in weed smoking and 3rd in the world, and when it comes to cocaine sniffing, we are again placed first in Africa and 14th in the world, and this means the country is at its bleak,” he opined.
Rev. Fosu-Ayarkwah described the situation as a ‘national security threat’ and made bold suggestions.
He suggested the government takes immediate steps to address this menace to protect the future of the youth; otherwise, the country won’t get anybody to become leaders in years to come.
