2024 Election: It Is Not Too Late To Bring The Former Executives On Board… NPP Former Chairman

Yaw B. Yiadom, a former Chairman- Abuakwa South Constituency.

A former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Yaw Boakye Yiadom, has stated that the party’s national leadership is responsible for the apathy currently affecting the party.

He emphasized that after every election, it is the responsibility of the national executives to unite the base and form a strong team capable of working together to keep the party in power.

“But in our case, it’s different,” Yiadom explained. “If you contest an election and lose, no one cares about you, which opens the door for some individuals to run as independent candidates because they feel neglected. This situation needs to be addressed.”

Yaw Boakye further noted that despite being sidelined by the party, he has been engaging with the former executives in the constituency to visit the areas where party members are upset and have decided not to vote. They are working to persuade these members to reconsider and vote for the NPP on December 7, aiming to “break the eight” and retain power in 2025, because they love the party.

“We can’t sit back and allow the party we fought hard to bring to power in 2016 and 2020 to fall into opposition. We have taken it upon ourselves to visit these areas and convince the people to return and vote for the NPP, and for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Party Leader, to become the next President of Ghana,” he said.

The former Abuakwa South NPP Chairman acknowledged that with only a few days left until the election, it is not too late for the national leadership to take the necessary steps and bring all former executives on board to help win the 2024 election.

“Whenever apathy sets in our party, we risk paving the way for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the election but we cannot afford to let that happen in 2024,” he continued.

Boakye Yiadom stressed that it is better to be a cleaner of a party in power than to be a chairman or general secretary of an opposition party, as nothing good comes from being in opposition.

He also took the opportunity to urge party members who are upset with the party for various reasons to set aside their grievances and come together to support the NPP in winning the December election.

Yaw Boakye concluded by emphasizing that if the party wins, their grievances will be addressed to restore peace and unity within the party.

He indicated that they wouldn’t have been able to successfully implement the Free Senior High School education policy and build the agenda 111 hospital projects, among other equally important projects to benefit the country, if the NPP government had not gone for those monies to run the affairs of the country.

“Former President John Mahama inherited a debt of ¢9.5 billion from former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and he increased it to over ¢120 billion when leaving office in 2017, and we didn’t see what they used it for likewise the NPP government,” he mentioned.

He then advised Ghanaians to have confidence in the NPP Government and maintain them in power in the upcoming December polls because they are the only political party that can develop Ghana.

Juasohene, Berima Kofi Amaniampong expressed his appreciation to the DCE and the MP for thinking about their health and bringing such an important project to them.

He assured them that they will provide support for the Northwell Limited Constructions, who are responsible for the project, to enable them to complete the project within 6 months to enhance healthcare delivery in the area.
