The Akyem Muosohene, Osaberima Dr. Owusu Bɛyɛɛman, has admonished the government to allow state institutions responsible for fighting corruption to work effectively in dealing with those who steal from the nation’s coffers.

He explained that corruption is a major setback for every country, especially Ghana, because when government officials engage in such acts, it becomes difficult for the state to mobilize funds to champion infrastructure projects for its citizens.

He emphasized that corruption is something that should never be entertained in the country.

According to him, whenever a new government takes over in Ghana, it often reprehend its predecessors for being aloof and allowing appointees to exploit the nation without imposing proper sanctions and vice versa. 

This, he noted, it is time to put an end to this cycle of blame and instead permit state institutions to carry out their mandate so that those found guilty of corruption are compelled to return stolen funds to the state so they can be used for developmental projects in communities that need support.

Dr. Owusu Bɛyɛɛman stressed that once elected, a President automatically becomes a father to all. Therefore, if any appointee misuses state funds, they should be dismissed and arraigned before court to retrieve the money.

This, he argued, would serve as a deterrent to others, rather than waiting for a change of government before such individuals are held accountable.

The Muosohene believes that with this approach, Ghana can curb corruption and save enough money to run its own affairs without relying heavily on foreign aid.

He further stated that in the foreign democracies Ghana seeks to emulate, officials who misappropriate funds meant for national projects are asked to step down while investigations are conducted, adding that If found guilty, the state retrieves the money and punishes them.

The traditional ruler expressed optimism that, Ghana can adopt similar practices.

Dr. Owusu Bɛyɛɛman recalled that upon his installation as Muosohene, he told his people that he now belonged to the community, and anyone who flouted its laws would be dealt with.

He emphasized that government must adopt the same principle to ensure financial discipline among its appointees and protect the public purse.

Muosohene of the Akem Abuakwa Traditional Council in the Eastern Region, Osaberima Owusu Bɛyɛɛman, has stated that there is no need for the government to allocate GH¢150 million to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) before cracking down on illegal miners, popularly known as galamseyers.

The government has allocated GH¢150 million from the 2026 budget to NAIMOS to strengthen its fight against those engaging in illegal mining activities in the country.

According to him, the lands belong to the traditional rulers, but the government owns the natural resources on them and controls the security agencies as well.

He argued that if someone is engaging in illegal activities to steal these resources, the military should simply be deployed to halt their operations rather than pumping money into combating them.

Osaberima Bɛyɛɛman further said that if the government had outlined proper and strict models for mining, the funds, which could have been channeled into infrastructure projects to benefit Ghanaians would not have been given to NAIMOS to fight illegal miners who are destroying water bodies, forests, and the landscape.

“The government should inform the traditional rulers about the mechanism put in place this time around, as to why such an amount of money is being allocated to NAIMOS, because we are ready to offer them our support in fighting the menace to protect the environment,” he noted.

Osaberima Owusu Bɛyɛɛman used the opportunity to advise chiefs who are involved in the act to stop, reminding them that they have sworn an oath not to engage in practices that would destroy the country’s future.

He also stated that he strongly disagrees with those who claim there is a scarcity of jobs in the country, insisting that agriculture alone can create millions of jobs for the youth.

He urged business moguls who purchased excavators for the youth to use in galamsey to instead invest in farming machinery, enabling them to venture into agriculture and transform their lives.

He emphasized that the fight against galamsey is a shared responsibility, which is why all must rally behind the government, if not to eliminate it, then at least to reduce it to safeguard water bodies, lands, and forests for future generations.

“What will you gain by destroying water bodies and lands to amass wealth for yourself?

“Your wealth will be in vain if you don’t get food to eat and have water to drink, so, therefore, we must take a critical look at the situation and form a united front to say no to galamsey and treat it as the enemy of the country, and fight it together,” he opined.

The Chairman of the Bibiara Bɛyɛ Fine (BBF) Association, based in the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region, Emmanuel Asare, has admonished Senior High School students to take leadership positions in their respective schools seriously. 

According to him, every leadership role in school is crucial, and students must be courageous enough to contest for those positions because it prepares them to become good leaders in the future. 

“Most at times, some students mock at the canteen and dining hall prefects and I will urge you not to give them a listening ear because that is the bold steps you have taken to shape your confidence level to be able to make a good decision for yourself when occupying a higher position in the future,” he mentioned. 

Emmanuel Asare revealed this when his outfit organized a one-day workshop on *Youth Inclusion in Local Governance and Student Opportunity After School* for the Oti Boateng SHS 3 students, who are preparing for the 2026 WASSCE, at their school premises on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. 

The chairman further said that the youth must be allowed to participate in decision-making at the local governance level to enable them to express their concerns regarding the happenings in the country. 

Mr. Asare then encouraged the students to seize any opportunity that comes their way to learn, speak, and not allow fear to hinder their aims and aspirations in life. 

“I’m a former student of Oti Boateng SHS and I want you to make me proud in the upcoming inter Senior High School debate slated for Friday, November 21, 2025, at the GNAT Hall in Koforidua,” he pleaded. 

The Headmaster of the school, Francis Tekpertey, on behalf of the school’s management, expressed his profound appreciation to the association for initiating such a program to enlighten the students on the importance of getting involved in local governance activities in the country. 

Mr. Tekpertey further entreated his students to embrace a positive mindset and strive to make changes that will better their lives in the near future as they prepare to part ways with the school next year.

The Assembly Member for the Otwitiri Korkormu Electoral Area in the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region, Ahmmed Agbneyadzi, has led residents in a clean-up exercise at their only river source to strengthen sanitation in the community. 

According to him, the Adukromu River has been their only source of water since the era of their forefathers.

Whenever there is a power outage, he indicates borehole water stops flowing, and residents fetch water from the river for their daily activities until the Electricity Company of Ghana restores power.

He explained that this made it necessary to clean the riverbanks to ensure the water is hygienic for drinking and cooking. 

Mr. Agbneyadzi further noted that galamsey activities have destroyed many water bodies in communities across the country. He stressed that since such activities are not occurring in their area, they have no excuse but to preserve the Adukromu River for future generations. 

“Due to the adequate of borehole water in our various communities, most of these rivers have been abandoned to be rotten which should not be so, and we, [the people of Akuapem Korkormu] will protect and preserve the Adukromu River because this is what our forefathers left for us,” he indicated. 

Mr. Agbneyadzi added that water is life, which is why it is essential and a shared responsibility for everyone to safeguard water sources in their communities. 

The Otwitiri Korkormu Assembly Member also urged his colleagues to imitate the initiative by protecting rivers in their electoral areas and ensuring that people do not throw rubbish or defecate in them, so they remain safe for drinking. 

“Farmers also fetch river water to spring it on their farm crops to grow well and if it is polluted it will affect their farm produce which is why it is incumbent on every Ghanaian to come on board and protect our water bodies from being destroyed by any form of human activities,” he opined. 

He used the medium and expressed gratitude to residents for showing up and making the exercise successful. 

Some of the residents who participated in the communal labour commended their Assembly Member for organizing the exercise to redeem the image of their only river source in the area.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has called for stricter measures in the recruitment process of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to prevent a repeat of the November 12th, 2025, disaster. 

The incident, which occurred during the commencement of the recruitment exercise, led to the death of six people and left several others injured following a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium. 

Reacting to the tragedy, the IGP emphasized the need to take responsibility and act to create safer, fairer, and more efficient systems to prevent such occurrences in the future. 

“Such a tragedy should never happen again in any of our national recruitment exercises and I call for sober reflection and decisive action,” he said. 

Mr. Tetteh Yohuno further stated that the recruitment process must be reviewed, reformed, and strengthened by identifying areas for improvement to ensure the safety and dignity of all applicants. 

The Inspector General of Police made these remarks while speaking at the 68th Speech and Prize Giving Day of Okuapemman Senior High School, where he was a special guest of honor and a former student of the institution. 

The event was celebrated under the theme: “Reconnecting With Our Core Principle of Discipline, Dedication, and Patriotism: Inspiring Hope in the Younger Generation.” 

On behalf of the Police Management Board, IGP Yohuno extended condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with colleagues in the Ghana Armed Forces during this difficult time. 

For her part, the Girls’ Prefect of the school, Miss Klakani Blessing Klenam, lamented the challenges confronting them, noting that they are affecting teaching and learning. 

According to her, some dormitories and classrooms are in dire need of refurbishment. 

She added that the poor road network within the school does not favor visually impaired students. She therefore appealed to the government to tar the roads to enable easy access to classrooms and dormitories. 

Ms. Klakani further pleaded with the alumni of the school, stakeholders, and philanthropists to support visually impaired students with modern learning equipment to make their studies more manageable. 

The Headmaster of the school, Rev. Richard Afari, noted that while the school is performing well academically, they have introduced the Success Agenda to enhance students’ learning abilities.

The initiative aims to prepare them to excel in WASSCE without resorting to examination malpractices. 

“The Okuapemman Senior High School has, over the past 68 years, trained many prominent people who are contributing to the success and development of the country, and is looking forward to nurturing more learners to become good products of the nation.”

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Atiwa East District Assembly in the Eastern Region has assured that there will be uniform development across the length and breadth of the country. 

According to him, President John Dramani Mahama has tasked all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to champion infrastructure projects in smaller communities within their jurisdictions during their first term in office. 

Mr. Ntim believes that before President Mahama’s tenure ends in January 2029, the entire country will see massive developmental projects, to earn him praise from Ghanaians. 

The Atiwa East DCE made this known when he cut sod for the construction of the Anyinam Islamic Kindergarten two-unit classroom block and the pavement of the Anyinam Zongo lorry station on Friday, November 14, 2025. 

“I have already cut sod for the construction of both Nanapa Community-based Health Planning and Service compound and Bebome Number 2 six-unit classroom block, and this demonstrates the government’s commitment to tackle all the sectors in the country,” he stated. 

Mr. Ntim noted that this forms part of President Mahama’s vision to expand projects to every corner of the country, to enable Ghanaians to get their fair share of the national cake. 

“Government has allocated funds for all the aforementioned four projects I have cut for, so once the contractors complete them within the six-month time frame given, they will receive their money,” he emphasized. 

Some drivers at the Anyinam Zongo station, speaking to Kontihen Kofi Oboh, expressed excitement about the pavement project, saying it will benefit them in many ways. 

According to them, when it rains, the station becomes muddy, disrupting their work.

For this, they expressed gratitude to the DCE and the government for coming to their aid and cutting sod for the commencement of the pavement project. 

They also pleaded with the DCE to monitor the project to ensure the contractor completes it within the expected three-month period.

The District Chief Executive for the Atiwa East District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Ernest Owusu Ntim, says the Assembly has outlined measures to give back to the communities and relieve them of some infrastructure challenges.

According to him, without tax contributions from the various communities in the country, the government wouldn’t have had the funds to run and manage the country’s affairs.

Ernest Ntim mentioned that all the communities in Atiwa East will benefit from the tax revenue generated by the Assembly.

“I will collaborate with all my 20 Assembly members in the District to use a digital channel to collect the taxes from the residents in the area,” opined Ernest Ntim.

He explained that a percentage of these taxes will be given to the communities to use to do their own project to enable them to benefit from the national cake.

The Atiwa East DCE stated this when he joined the Chiefs and elders of Anyinam to cut the sod for the construction of the Anyinam Community Center and pledged that the Assembly will support them to complete the project.

The Committee Chairman of the project, Dr. Lawrence Misa Aboagye, said they need over GH¢3 million to raise the project, but will use the right strategy to mobilize funds from the residents to complete it for Anyinamman.

Anyinamhene, Osaberima Okogyeabusua Banin Duodo, said that it has been his dream to construct a community center so that they can have an official place to hold their programs.

He expressed his excitement for breaking the ground for the project to commence and admonished his people to come on board and contribute something to help with its completion.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atiwa East District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Ernest Owusu Ntim, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, cut the sod for the construction of two development projects in the area.

The projects, Nanapa Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS compound) and Bebome No.2 six-unit classroom block, will each be complemented by a mechanized borehole.

With work expected to begin soon, both projects are scheduled for completion within six months.

Speaking to journalists at the sod-cutting ceremony, the DCE noted that the government is committed to delivering quality healthcare and education, hence the extension of infrastructure projects to smaller communities to ensure equitable access to the national cake.

Mr. Owusu Ntim stated that any country that downplays its education and health sectors lags in development, which is why President John Dramani Mahama has made both sectors his topmost priority.

He further emphasized Mr. Mahama’s intention to bring development to the doorsteps of residents in hard-to-reach areas, making them feel deserving of these social amenities and thereby improving their standard of living.

The Atiwa East DCE added that proximity to schools and health centres enables residents in remote areas to access education and healthcare more easily, noting that the two sectors complement each other.

Some women in the Nanapa community praised the government for initiating the construction of the ultramodern CHPS compound, describing it as a dream come true.

They explained that when they fall sick, they currently travel to either Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital or Enyeresi Hospital for medical care. Thus, believed that the completion of these projects would significantly improve their access to healthcare.

On her part, the Atiwa East District Education Director, Pearl Acquah, said the current classroom block at Bebome No.2 Primary School is in a sorry state and poses a threat to learners’ lives.

“I’m very excited to join the DCE, Ernest Owusu Ntim to cut the sod for the commencement of the project because this is the day I have been waiting for a long time,” he opined.

Madam Acquah believes that once the Bebome No.2 Primary School is completed, many parents will enroll their children, as the new facility will provide a conducive learning environment.

The lawmaker for the Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region, Daniel Nana Addo Kenneth, has expressed optimism that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will secure victory in the 2028 general elections.

He admitted that only God knows why the NPP could not retain power during the 2024 elections; however, a comeback beckons for the elephant family.

Mr. Addo projects the 2028 election as a very tough one but assures that the NPP will put in significant effort to snatch power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He made this known at Adukrom during the ‘Arise And Build Conference’ organized by the Okere NPP youth wing, dubbed ‘Energizing The Base For Victory 2028.’

According to the Okere Member of Parliament, as the saying goes, “a downfall of a man is not the end of his life,” the great elephant party draws inspiration from the saying.

Therefore, he charged the party’s youth wing to come together, form a united front, and assist the party leadership in achieving a resounding victory in the 2028 polls.

Mr. Addo further admonished party faithful to put aside the defeat suffered in the 2024 elections and turn their focus to the forthcoming 2028 edition by working hard, as it forms part of the foundation for unseating the NDC.

For his part, the Youth Organizer for the Constituency, Daniel Abboah Osew, who spearheaded the program, said that after every election, they must reorganize the youth to return to the grassroots and work for the party to regain power.

He underscored the importance of youth in politics, stating that it is the youth who win power for every political party across the globe, hence the motivation behind the Arise and Build Conference.

Mr. Osew used the opportunity to commend his MP, Daniel Nana Addo Kenneth, for prioritizing youth development in the constituency, citing his initiative to sponsor 16 youth from the area to Russia to help shape their lives.

Aspiring Eastern Regional Youth Organizer, who also serves as the Youth Organizer for the NPP in New Juaben North Constituency, Samuel Osei Sarkodie, popularly known as ‘SOS’ also recalled that statistics indicated that in the 2024 general elections, most of the NPP youth did not participate in the exercise, leading to the party’s worst-ever defeat in the country’s electoral process.

He described the Arise And Build Conference as timely and necessary, highlighting the youth’s role in reorganizing the NPP to recapture power in 2028.

He emphasized the active role of the youth in championing unity before and after the party’s forthcoming presidential primaries and advised against internal politics of insults ahead of the anticipated exercise.

“In my speech, I admonished my fellow youth to be circumspect in their utterances against each other in the upcoming NPP’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, to elect a new leader for the party, so that after everything, they can unite and work for the party to win the 2028 elections,” he recounted.

Aspiring National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vera Oye Bram-Larbi, has stated that the party did not lose the 2024 general election.

According to her, the NPP’s defeat was largely due to low voter turnout among party members, particularly the youth, during the electoral process.

Miss Bram-Larbi explained that in the lead-up to the 2024 polls, internal misunderstandings and dissatisfaction with the national leadership caused many loyalists, especially the youth, to abstain from voting, ultimately costing the party the ability to retain power.

She argued that had the party been better organized and more attentive to the concerns of its grassroots base, the NPP would not have ceded governance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The aspiring National Youth Organizer further claimed that the NDC’s vote tally in 2024 did not surpass its 2020 performance, but rather saw a significant decline.

This scenario, Mrs. Bram-Larbi, said, shows that many Ghanaians, especially NPP members, did not participate in the 2024 electoral exercise due to apathy, contributing to the NDC’s landslide victory.

She made these remarks in an interview with Kontihen Kofi Oboh at the Okere Constituency Youth Wing’s Arise and Build Conference, themed “Energizing the Base for Victory 2028.”

She described the conference as timely and necessary, emphasizing its importance in mobilizing and reorganizing the NPP youth toward reclaiming power in the 2028 elections.
