MTN Ghana Foundation Educates Schoolchildren  On Gender-Based Violence

The Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) Foundation, Ghana, partnered with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service to educate schoolchildren on 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The beneficial pupils are students of the Trinity Presbyterian Model School in the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region.

This program is held every year from November 25, the International Day for the Eradication of Violence Against Women, to December 10, Human Rights Day.

The “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” emphasizes the growing threats of online abuse under the theme “Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women and Children.”

The initiative aimed to create a safer online environment and encourage responsible digital behavior, with a particular focus on protecting women and children from digital abuse.

Speaking to journalists, the Senior Manager for MTN Ghana Foundation, Robert Kuzoe, mentioned that creating an awareness campaign such as this one is crucial for promoting a safer digital space and encouraging people to come together to end digital violence, especially women.

Mr. Kuzoe further explained that his outfit has realized they should not always be talking to women about Gender-Based Violence, which was why the Foundation saw the need to educate young boys and girls about it, to enable them to refrain from such acts and create a conducive environment for all.

They included educational sessions and debates at schools for both boys and girls, focusing on cyber hygiene, identifying harmful behavior, and reporting.

The participants of the Trinity Presbyterian Model School were divided into two groups and asked to debate on “Is it necessary to teach both girls and boys the same thing in school?”

After the debate, the Principal of the Trinity Presbyterian Model School, Madam Vivian Obuobisa Darko, praised her pupils for debating extensively on the matter and coming out with contributions and suggestions to combat Gender-Based Violence in Ghana.

She said the outstanding performance of the schoolchildren demonstrates that the Ghana Education Service (GES) has a great future to nurture more talented children for the country.

NPP’s 38% Votes In 2024 Polls : A Disgrace…Mark Okraku

Mark Okraku, NDC Chairman- Fanteakwa South Constituency.

The Fanteakwa South Constituency Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region, Mark Okraku, has described the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a defunct political party in Ghana.

According to him, the 2024 general election results demonstrate how Ghanaians vehemently rejected the NPP because of its unattractiveness.

He explained that in the history of Ghanaian politics, no government in power has ever secured 38% in a general election since the inception of democracy in 1992, and he described it as a disgrace to the party’s leadership.

Mr. Okraku debunked claims that Ghanaians miss the NPP returning to power in 2028. He argued that the party’s abysmal performance in 2024 continues to haunt them, adding that the result is still giving them a nightmare, and question how discerning Ghanaians will miss them

Mark Okraku added that the NPP is currently confused and uncertain about who to choose among its five presidential aspirants as the next flagbearer, stressing that the party is in disarray.

“Everybody in NPP is on the run, including the elephant being their symbol, and I don’t think they will come to power anytime soon,” he remarked.

He added “The former Vice President and the 2024 flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia should forget about Ghana’s Presidential seat because his own party members do not want to give him their internal seat to sit on it because of his 38% achievement record in 2024 elections,” said the Fanteakwa South NDC Chairman.

Mark Okraku categorically stated that if he were a brother of Samira Bawumia, he would advise her to talk to her husband to withdraw from the flagbearership race and spend his remaining money, because he was the cause of the hardship in Ghana, and there is no way he can become President of the Republic.

Highlighting the five presidential aspirants, Mr. Okraku said Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyapong are all focused on the 2032 election rather than the upcoming 2028 contest.

“Bawumia will go for retirement, and as for Kennedy Agyapong, he always says he doesn’t know why he joined NPP, and it is clear that their leadership is very weak,” he added.

Mark Okraku stressed that although the NPP has long bragged that “they have the men,” the party suffered a heavy defeat in 2024.

He alleged that their National Chairman has resigned from his position because he could not bear the humiliation of Bawumia’s 38% votes secured for the party.

Mahama’s One Year In Office Without Corruption Label Commendable…NDC Chair

Mark Okraku, NDC Chairman-Fanteakwa South constituency

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Fanteakwa South constituency in the Eastern Region, Mark Okraku, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for putting in place measures to safeguard the public purse.

Assessing President Mahama’s performance after one year in office, following his overwhelming victory on December 7, 2024, he said the President’s governance has been phenomenal and widely acknowledged.

According to him, for the first time in history, Ghana has a President whose government has not been associated with any corruption allegations.

He alleged that during the first year of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, several bribery and corruption cases occurred in his administration, including the “cash-for-seat” scandal and the disappearance of bulk contaminated fuel, among others.

Mark Okraku added that President Mahama did not seek financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or the World Bank in his 2026 budget statement and economic policy because his appointees are not corrupt.

He said they are helping him to build the country with locally mobilized funds while stabilizing the dollar-to-cedi exchange rate to give hope to Ghanaian traders.

“This demonstrates how committed they are to resetting the country and making it a safer place for all and sundry as compared to what the former President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government did to Ghanaians,” he mentioned.

He further stated that Ghanaians do not regret voting for President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government in 2024, since he is fulfilling every single promise he made to them, which he described as incredible.

The NDC Fanteakwa South Chairman noted that inflation, commodity prices, and fuel costs have all been reduced, emphasizing that this is what a good leader does to give economic freedom to its citizens.

Mr. Okraku advised those serving under the NDC government to remain resolute, focused, and discharge their duties diligently.

He urged them to refrain from any form of corrupt act that may dent the reputation of President Mahama and undermine his hard-earned public image.

Benin’s Attempted Coup D’Etat: A Wake-up Call To African Presidents…Apostle Dr. S.K. Dadzie

Apostle Dr. Kofi Dadzie, General Overseer-Leaders Light International Church.

On 7 December 2025, soldiers of the Benin Armed Forces, led by Lieutenant Colonel Pascal Tigri, announced the overthrow of Beninese President Patrice Talon on national television, following an attack on Talon’s residence in the capital, Porto-Novo, but unfortunately, their mission was unsuccessful.

Not long ago, a coup d’état occurred in Guinea-Bissau, where President Umaro Sissoco Embaló was captured by the Head of the Military Office of the Presidency, Brigadier General Dinis Incanha, on 26 November 2025.

Reacting to this, the General Overseer of the Leaders Light International Church, Apostle Dr. Samuel Kofi Dadzie, stated that this should serve as a wake-up call to African leaders who manage the affairs of their respective countries to pay attention to the plight of their people and address their concerns.

He condemned the act but explained that politicians are the cause of these coups d’état happening on African soil. When seeking power, he asserted that they made numerous promises. When they fail to deliver, citizens become frustrated and later engage in overthrowing democratically elected presidents, which he described as uncalled for.

Since 2020, nine nations, Mali, Chad, Guinea, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Niger, Gabon, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau have experienced successful military takeovers, highlighting a resurgence of coups, especially in the Sahel region.

Historically, West Africa has witnessed the most, with over 40 successful coups by 2004, showing a long-standing pattern, though trends fluctuate.

Apostle Dr. Kofi Dadzie added that it’s about time the leaders of African countries found a lasting solution to this situation; otherwise, coups d’état will not end in Africa anytime soon.

He further argued that the only way to stop the overthrow of civilian governments is to create more jobs for the youth, embark on massive infrastructure projects across all sectors, and establish a conducive environment for citizens to feel better at home.

He indicated that if this is done, no military officer will use a gun to overthrow them from power.

“One day I was preaching in my church and asked my church members to raise their hands if they drive from Accra to Kumasi and have not encountered potholes on the road and nobody was able to raise his or her hand for GH¢100,000 and it demonstrated how bad our roads are and it is causing unnecessary accidents,” he recounted.

“The more road accidents continue to swallow people’s lives, the more unemployment rate and hardship increase, which prompts the military to take over power from the civilian president because they don’t think about the welfare and living conditions of their citizens,” noted Dr. Dadzie.

Atiwa East Marks 41st National Farmers Day Celebration

Atiwa East DCE presenting the award to the 2025 overall best farmer.

The Atiwa East District Assembly in the Eastern Region joined the nation in celebrating the 41st National Farmers’ Day, themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”

The celebration aimed to honor hardworking Ghanaian farmers who, for decades, have produced food for the country.

Addressing the gathering at Subriso, the District Chief Executive, Ernest Owusu Ntim, congratulated the farmers for their significant contribution to the nation’s growth and development.

He noted that agriculture remains paramount to President John Dramani Mahama, which is why several programs and policies have been implemented to shape the future of farmers in Ghana.

Mr. Ntim added that President Mahama knows the importance of farming, describing agriculture as the bedrock of every country.

He emphasized that the President himself engages in farming activities to help feed citizens.

The Atiwa East DCE further urged Ghanaians to support and patronize locally produced food to enable farmers to earn a living and support their families.

A 30-year-old farmer, Emmanuel Teye, was crowned the 2025 Overall Best Farmer of the Atiwa East District Assembly.

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Teye lamented the destruction of farmlands by illegal miners.

He appealed to President Mahama to implement punitive measures to halt the miners, stressing that farmers cannot continue to invest in agriculture only for their farms to be destroyed for personal gain.

The Abakoasehene, Berima Appiah Akroma Acheampong commended the youth for venturing into agriculture, describing it as a positive sign for the country.

He encouraged more young people to take up farming, noting that President Mahama has rolled out numerous programs to make agriculture attractive compared to previous years.

Coup D’etat Retards African Development… Osaberima Darko

Osaberima Otu Darko, Osinohene.

The Osinohene, Osaberima Otu Darko, has stressed that a coup d’état is not something Africa should entertain.

According to him, coups d’état have caused many African countries to lag in development.

Osaberima Otu Darko explained that some Western countries are also facing worse situations than African nations, yet we have not seen their militaries attempting to overthrow elected presidents because they understand the consequences of military rule.

The Osinohene said that a coup d’état is not a solution to Africa’s problems. He argued that if a military officer believes a democratically elected president is underperforming or associated with corruption, the officer should resign from the service, form a political party, contest elections, and if successful, be entrusted with the country, rather than using weapons to overthrow a civilian government.

Osaberima Darko admitted that all African countries which have overthrown their elected presidents, including the recent case in Guinea-Bissau were facing similar challenges. However, he emphasized that this does not justify the military taking power from civilian governments.

“The military is being resourced with guns to use them to protect the people and to ensure there is peace in the country, but not to use them for staging a coup d’etat to snatch power from the incumbent president,” he stated.

The Osinohene further condemned military actions and urged politicians to listen to the plight of their people and address their concerns to prevent such occurrences.

“The military staged a coup d’etat against the elected President when there is hunger and hardship in the country, and the politicians are amassing wealth and living a luxurious lifestyle. It is about time they advise themselves from such a greedy act and prioritize the welfare of their citizens first before anything else and serve them with integrity to avoid the wrath of the military,” he recounted.

Osaberima Otu Darko admonished African leaders, especially  Ghana, to create more job opportunities so that when young people graduate from tertiary institutions, they can move directly into the workforce.

He mentioned that in Ghana, for instance, many young people are engaging in social vices such as galamsey and illicit drug abuse because, after completing school, they cannot find work.

He stressed that this must be treated as a national concern since it poses a threat to the security system.

He made this known to Kontihen Kofi Oboh when speaking to the recent coup d’etat in Guinea-Bissau, where their President, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, was captured by the Head of the Military Office of the Presidency, Brigadier General Dinis Incanha, on November 26, 2025.

Kwabenghene Narrates How He Narrowly Escaped Assassination

Daasebre Anyimadu Kantamantu II, Okyeman Gyaasehene.

Kwabenghene, Daasebre Anyimadu Kantamantu II, has for the first time narrated how God helped him escape an assassination attempt by some unknown individuals in the area.

According to him, his first royal durbar was scheduled for Friday, November 17, 2025, but some people placed an undisclosed amount of money on his head to have him killed during the event.

But, he noted that God exposed them, and they were apprehended by the Ghana Police Service.

Kwabenghene, who also serves as the Okyeman Gyaasehene, added that after their arrest, the Atiwa West District Security Council (DISEC), together with the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, halted the event and embarked on thorough investigations to identify those behind this act and to ensure peace in the community before granting him the green light to hold his first royal durbar celebration.

Daasebre Anyimadu Kantamantu II, the overlord of Kwabeng, noted that the durbar is now slated for Friday, December 12, 2025, and he thanked God that he is still alive to witness that important day in his life.

He expressed profound appreciation to the Ghana Police Service and all those who played a crucial role in arresting the assassins and restoring calm in the area.

He added that he has championed infrastructure projects in the area as Kwabenghene for the past seven years and has lobbied for institutions such as the National Health Insurance Authority, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, and others to establish offices in the town so residents can benefit from national cake.

“When I became the Kwabenghene in 2018, I realized that the unemployment rate situation among the youth in the community was very high, so I spoke to a mining company in the area called Extra Gold Mining Limited to employ them, and God being so, they listened to me and employed many of them,” he recounted.

Daasebre Anyimadu Kantamantu II stated that he has chalked up many successes and saw the need to mark his first royal durbar as Kwabenghene and render an account to his people about what he has achieved in the past seven years and what he intends to do in the years ahead.

He used the opportunity to invite his people, both abroad and at home, to come on board and make his upcoming durbar successful.

Protozoa exchanging pleasantries with Suhumhene.

The Member of Parliament for Suhum in the Eastern Region, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, has emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure every Ghanaian benefits from the national cake.

According to Protozoa, all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) represent the central government and are responsible for ensuring that every community within their jurisdiction receives infrastructure projects to improve living conditions.

The Suhum MP made these remarks when addressing chiefs, elders, and residents during the 2025 Odwira Festival.

Mr. Bekoe further admonished the people of Suhum to rally behind Lydia Ohenewaa, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Suhum Municipal Assembly, to succeed and enable her to embark on more developmental projects that will transform the municipality.

PENSEC Crowned Winners Of Maiden Inter-High School Debate

Daasebreyere, Akosua Boateng presenting the award to PENSEC students.

The Pentecost Senior High School (PENSEC) was declared the ultimate winner of the New Juaben South Youth Parliament maiden edition Inter-High School debate, themed: “Building Youth Voices Through Accountable Governance.”

The participating schools were Koforidua Secondary Technical School (SECTECH), New Juaben Senior High School (NJUASCO), Pentecost Senior High School (PENSEC), and Oti Boateng Senior High School (OBOSS).

PENSEC and OBOSS advanced to the grand finale, where PENSEC won by six points to clinch the ultimate.

The debate centered on the following issues:

1. Parents and teachers who are responsible for instilling discipline in children.
2. The use of social media in addressing national issues.
3. Should the youth be included in governance?

At the end of the contest, Pentecost Senior High School garnered 66 points against Oti Boateng Senior High School’s 60 points.

Speaking to journalists, the Right Honourable Speaker of the New Juaben South Youth Parliament, Emmanuel Asare, said the debate aimed to give the youth a platform to have their voices heard by the country’s leadership.

According to him, it is about time leaders of the country opened their doors to the youth, listened to their concerns, and factored them into decision-making to help contribute to nation-building.

Referencing the popular saying that the youth are the future leaders, he expressed a contrary view, arguing that the youth are the leaders now and are already in charge of affairs.

Rt. Hon. Speaker Asare lamented the low number of youth in Ghana’s Parliament, noting that at least 40% should have been represented.

He expressed dissatisfaction about the older generation for not granting the youth the opportunity to occupy such positions and bring fresh ideas to develop the country, something he described as pathetic.

For their part, some of the contestants from PENSEC, Etu Emmanuella, Antwi Augustina, and Osei Sarfoa expressed their excitement and gave thanks to God for helping them win the competition.

“Prior to the Inter-SHS debate, our competitors, most especially SECTECH, were bragging that they would win, but our Headmaster, Elder Peter Atta Gyamfi, prayed with us before coming into the auditorium, and lo and behold, we were declared winners of the 2025 maiden edition of the New Juaben South Inter-SHS debate,” they added.

The Chairperson of the program, Daasebreyere of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Akosua Asiedua Boateng, applauded the New Juaben South Youth Parliament for organizing such a program for Senior High Schools in the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly.

She noted that it enabled students to debate the aforementioned topics and national challenges, and to propose brilliant ideas to address them.

She urged the organizers to extend the program to the tertiary level until the voices of the youth reach the top hierarchy of the country to address growing challenges.
