Okuapehene Urges Ghanaians To Embrace Our Heritage With Pride

Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene.

Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, has admonished Ghanaians, especially traditional leaders to embrace and uphold their heritage with pride for the benefit of future generations.

According to him, our heritage defines us as Ghanaians, and if we fail to protect it and allow it to be trampled, the agony of our forefathers will be in vain, and the country will face their wrath.

Oseadeeyo Akuffo III emphasized that it is the responsibility of every parent to instill the heritage of the land in their children so they do not depart from it as they grow. He expressed optimism that this will lead to national development and prosperity.

The Okuapehene stated that if parents do not teach their children to value our heritage, then in the years ahead, we may not have Ghanaian-born children speaking any of the local languages, and the country will suffer the consequences.

Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III further advised Ghanaians, regardless of their tribe, to unite as one family to safeguard our heritage and reject foreign cultural influences. This, he said, would enable future generations to appreciate the efforts made to preserve what our forefathers left behind.

He made these remarks on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the forecourt of the Akuapem Palace during the grand durbar of this year’s Akuapem Odwira Festival, themed: “Preserving Our Heritage; Securing Our Future.”

Yagbonwura (the King of the Gonja Kingdom), Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, who was the guest speaker at the event, noted in his speech that chiefs remain the custodians of tradition and serve as counselors and dispensers of justice within our communities.

“Our influence in maintaining harmony provides the fertile grounds upon which development flourishes, yet the Chieftaincy succession dispute continues to threaten the peace of this country,” he yielded.

Bii-Kunuto Soale I urged the government, through the National House of Chiefs, to intensify efforts toward codifying customs, practices, and usages related to succession. He indicated that such clarity would promote justice, reduce conflict, and preserve our cherished heritage.

The speech was delivered by Yapeiwura, Adam Baba Tanko Zakariah, on behalf of Yagbonwura.

He added that before the advent of modern democracy and the rule of law, tradition guided the governance of our people.

Students of the Presbyterian University-Ghana, on Friday, October 24, joined Okuapehene Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III and his cabinet to celebrate the Akuapem Odwira Festival.

This year’s Odwira Festival is very unique and significant to the people of Akuapeman, as it marks 199 years since its inception in 1826.

The aim of the student body of the Presbyterian University-Ghana in Akropong, in participating in this year’s Odwira Festival, was to learn about the customs, traditions, and heritage of the Akuapem Traditional Council.

Speaking to journalists, the President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University, Bless Kwabla Gbadago, entreated the youth of the country to get involved in festival activities to enable them to preserve our rich heritage.

According to him, the strength of every nation depends on its youth force, and when they engage in festival events, it will help Ghana sustain its cultural values for the unborn generation.

Mr. Gbadago added that festivals bring unity, development, and open up business avenues for the indigenes, allowing them to sell pure water, food, and fruits, among other things, to participants ultimately boosting the local economy.

The Akuapem Odwira Festival 2025 is themed: “Preserving Our Heritage; Securing Our Future.”

Mr. Gbadago added that when young people embrace Ghanaian festivals, our heritage will not perish; rather, it will become beneficial for future generations.

He used the opportunity to advise the youth of this country to refrain from anything regarding chieftaincy disputes and allow traditional leaders to resolve their differences, so that Ghana can continue to enjoy the peace God has bestowed on us.

E/R: Ken Agyapong’s Wife Donates Items To School For The Blind

Christina Agyapong, the wife of New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has donated food items valued at GH¢100,000 and an undisclosed sum of money to the Akropong School for the Blind in Eastern Region.

The donation included gallons of Frytol cooking oil, bags of rice, gari, sugar, assorted canned and bottled drinks, boxes of Milo, milk, Pepsodent toothpaste, Yazz sanitary pads, toiletries, and other essentials.

The gesture formed part of Mrs. Agyapong’s Eastern Regional campaign tour, during which she engaged with the Women’s Wing delegates across all 33 constituencies.

She used the opportunity to highlight her husband’s achievements and urged delegates to support his bid to become the NPP’s flagbearer in 2026 and lead the party into Ghana’s general elections in 2028.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school’s management, Headmistress Veronica Dery expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Agyapong and her entourage for their benevolence.

She assured them that the items would be put to good use.

Madam Dery also noted that the Akropong School for the Blind will mark its 80th anniversary in November 2025. However, she lamented the dilapidated state of the school’s infrastructure and appealed to the general public for support in refurbishing the facilities to enhance teaching and learning.

For her part, Eastern Regional Women’s Coordinator for Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, Yaa Ansah Safor explained that although the donation was not part of Mrs. Agyapong’s itinerary, but, as a mother, she felt compelled to extend support to the school after meeting the women delegates in Akropong.

“Supporting people and institutions is embedded in the Agyapong family DNA,  and this speaks volumes that If the NPP entrusts the mantle to her husband and he wins the 2028 elections, Ghanaians will never be starved having Mrs. Agyapong as First Lady,” she noted.

Mamponghene BEMOAN Galamsey Escalating In Ghana

Mamponghene, exchanging pleasantries with the Deputy Local Government Minister.

The Mamponghene in the Akuapem Traditional Council of the Eastern Region, Osaberima Kwame Otu Dartey III, has bemoaned the escalation of illegal mining activities, commonly referred to as galamsey, in the country.

He noted that the fight against the galamsey menace should be a shared responsibility by all Ghanaians, particularly traditional leaders who are the custodians of the lands released for the practices.

“We have traditional leaders across all the mining areas but have failed to speak against the illegal mining activities happening on their soil, and it is about time they wake up from their slumber and join forces in combating the galamseyers to protect our lands, forests, and water bodies for the generations yet to come,” said Mamponghene.

Osaberima Otu Dartey III remarked that the people of Akuapem do not engage in galamsey activities, yet this does not deter them from speaking out against it, as unchecked illegal mining could jeopardize the nation’s future if proactive measures are not taken to address the issue.

He made these statements during the celebration of the Mampong-Akuapem 2025 Ohum Festival, themed: “Ensuring Sustainable Use Of Our Natural Resources; The Role of Traditional Leaders.”

Osaberima Kwame Dartey III further stated that traditional leaders must continuously remind the government to formulate and implement plans to curtail the operations of galamsey activities, highlighting that Ghanaians cannot afford to import water for daily use due to the selfish desires of a few.

The Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah described the festival’s theme as both timely and visionary.

According to her, it addresses one of the pressing challenges of our time: how to manage Ghana’s God-given natural resources in a manner that benefits both current and future generations.

“Ghana is blessed with abundant natural resources, yet these resources are under increasing pressure from human activities such as illegal mining, deforestation, pollution, and unsustainable farming practices,” noted the minister.

The Minister, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon constituency in Greater Accra, stressed the importance of decisive and collective action.

‘If we fail to act, the land that has sustained our ancestors and communities may no longer be able to nourish future generations. Sustainable resource management is therefore not merely an option; it is an obligation to secure a better future,’ Madam Sowah added.

Job Creation Central To Kennedy Agyapong’s Vision For Ghanaians…Wife Hints

The wife of the Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has revealed that his husband’s top priority is to establish industries that will create jobs for Ghanaians, particularly the youth, in a bid to reduce the country’s unemployment rate.

Christiana Agyapong explained that whenever his husband travels and sees a vast stretch of unused land, he immediately begins to envision what could be cultivated there and considers setting up a factory within the area to generate employment.

This, she said, enables people to earn income to support their families and reflects the actions of a good leader committed to lifting citizens out of poverty and hardship.

Mrs. Agyapong added that the establishment of a factory in any community opens up business opportunities for locals, allowing them to sell items such as sachet water, food, fruits, and other products to company staff, ultimately boosting the local economy.

She further noted that if her husband is allowed to become President of Ghana, he will establish more companies to tackle the unemployment crisis facing the nation.

“The lack of job opportunities in the country is forcing young people to travel abroad in search of greener pastures. Those who cannot afford to travel are often seen in major cities of Ghana, sleeping in front of people’s stores and kiosks at night after struggling to earn their daily bread,” she opined.

Mrs. Agyapong made these remarks at Kyebi Bronikrom in the Abuakwa South Constituency during an engagement with the women’s wings of the NPP delegates. She used the occasion to urge them to vote for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the upcoming presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, in which 20,000 delegates are expected to participate.

She emphasized that the January 31 election will determine the future of Ghanaian children and, therefore, appealed to delegates, especially women, to consider the well-being of their children and elect Kennedy Agyapong as the party’s next flagbearer, expressing confidence that he will win the presidential seat for the NPP in 2028.

“If Kennedy Ohene Agyapong becomes the next President of Ghana in 2028, he would set up many factories to augment the ones he has already established to employ the unemployed young people and sweep them off the streets. Again, if Ghana has enough factories, the youth wouldn’t have been traveling overseas to seek greener pastures,” she added.

For her part, Yaa Ansaa Safori, Eastern Regional Women’s Coordinator for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, stated that Kennedy is often labeled a ‘hooligan’ because he stood up for the neglected grassroots members of the party, ensuring they also benefit from their dedication and sacrifices that helped the party win both the 2016 and 2020 elections.

She underscored the vital role grassroots members play in helping political parties win power, noting that their development and welfare remain a priority for Kennedy Agyapong, who will not disappoint them if elected President.

Yaa Ansaa Safori stressed that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s consistent placement at the top of the ballot paper in two consecutive primaries is a sign that “God has given him to them,” and urged delegates to honor him in the forthcoming primaries to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.

NPP Flagbearership Race: My Endorsement Of Bryan Acheampong Should Be Respected…Okere MP

The Member of Parliament for the Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region, Daniel Nana Addo Kenneth, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to respect his decision to throw his weight behind Bryan Acheampong.

According to him, his endorsement of Mr. Acheampong’s candidature follows thorough consultations.

He noted that he consulted with party executives, including his godfather and former MP for the area, Daniel Kwaku Botwe, before endorsing Bryan Acheampong among the other four candidates vying for the slot.

Mr. Kenneth added that deep down, he believes Bryan Acheampong is the only candidate among the five aspirants who can secure victory for the NPP in 2028.

He went on to clarify that Dan Kwaku Botwe has not declared his support for any of the presidential candidates. Instead, he is waiting for the outcome of the elections and will rally behind the winner to reclaim the presidential seat from the National Democratic Congress.

He explained that Daniel Botwe is now a senior figure in the party and is always cautious with his choices. He noted that the indiscipline among the members is affecting the party’s activities and needs a leader who can address these issues and unite them after the election.

Mr. Kenneth stated that his godfather’s decision to abstain from the internal election demonstrates his readiness to work with whichever candidate emerges victorious on January 31, 2026.

“Daniel Botwe doesn’t have a problem with me after explaining why I chose Bryan Acheampong over the other candidates because we are all championing for the party to come to power in 2028,” he noted.

He emphasized that Bryan Acheampong prioritizes the development of the party, which is why he continues to preach unity among its members.

“If Bryan Acheampong becomes the next President of the country, he will create more jobs to curb the disturbing unemployment rate menace confronting the youth,” he mentioned.

Mr. Kenneth then appealed to NPP delegates heading to the polls on January 31, 2025, to vote for Bryan Acheampong to lead the party into the 2028 elections.

The Okere MP made these remarks at Awukugua on Thursday, October 16, when Bryan Acheampong met the NPP delegates in the constituency and urged them to give him the nod to become the flagbearer and lead the party into the 2028 general elections.

Last year, in 2024, they donated 5,000 books, and this year, they increased the donation to 7,000. Additionally, Kindergarten students received special supplies, including 10 A4 sheets, erasers, sharpeners, pencils, and pens to encourage regular school attendance.

In a cross-section interview with journalists, the Public Relations Officer of the Osino Development Forum Ghana, Maestro Oduro Amaning,  emphasized the association’s commitment to addressing infrastructure needs and resolving minor challenges within the community.

He stated that education is the key to future prosperity, which motivates their support for the schoolchildren in Fanteakwa South District.

As a result, the association decided to provide these essential materials to help students pursue their education and aspire to greater achievements.

The Education Director for the Fanteakwa South District Assembly, Richard Akosah Addo, mentioned that they have worked with the Fanteakwa South District Security Council (DISEC), traditional rulers, and parents to implement a curfew prohibiting schoolchildren from going out after 7 PM. He noted that this initiative has positively impacted students’ academic performance.
