Anthony Osei-Adjei,NPP Secretary-E/R.

The Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region, Anthony Osei-Adjei, has hinted that a total of 22,264 delegates are expected to vote on Saturday, January 31, to elect a new presidential candidate for the party.

“The exercise would be held at 36 polling centres across all 33 constituencies in the region. Nsawam Adoagyire, Nkawkaw, and New Juaben South constituencies would have two centres, that is, ‘A and B’, because their numbers exceed 1000, and apart from them, the remaining 30 will have only one centre to ensure a smooth process of the election,” according to him.

Mr. Osei-Adjei stated that the party, the Ghana Police Service, and the Electoral Commission have put in place all necessary measures to ensure a peaceful and violence-free exercise on Saturday.

He noted that the election will commence at exactly 7:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m.

He also cautioned that on election day, nobody should wear a T-shirt of any aspirant at the voting centres to avoid confusion among supporters of other aspirants, since all campaigns would end on Friday, January 30.

Mr. Osei-Adjei stated that there would be enough security personnel at the various centres, and anyone found culpable of wearing an aspirant’s customised material would be dealt with according to the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

The Eastern Regional NPP Secretary used the opportunity to appeal to party faithful to comport themselves on January 31 and accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

“We wish we could present one person to lead the party into the 2028 general elections but it won’t work that which is why we have opened the floor for a total number of 211,849 delegates across all the 276 constituencies to select one person out of the five Presidential aspirants to represent us in the next elections,” he said.

He added that the party is going into the election with unity, so that after the process, they can form a united front and work assiduously to clinch the presidential seat from the main contender, the National Democratic Congress, in 2028.

NPP Presidential Primaries: Nana Addo’s Rebranded Darling Boy Will Win…NDC Youth Organizer

Ahmmed Agbenyadzi, NDC Youth Organizer- Akuapem North constituency.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will go to the polls on Saturday, January 31, 2026, to elect a new presidential candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.

This year’s election will see only five (5) people vying for the presidential candidate slot of the party, and the exercise will take place in all 275 constituencies across the country.

A total of 211,849 delegates are expected to vote, and the exercise will be held across 333 centres in the aforementioned constituencies nationwide.

Speaking on the development, the Akuapem North Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ahmmed Agbenyadzi, said all indications suggest that former Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will be re-elected to lead the party into the 2028 elections.

He described Dr. Alhaji Bawumia as ‘darling boy’ of former President Akufo-Addo and, as a result, he will do everything possible to ensure his election as the next leader of the party in order to shield him from the mess he caused the country during his tenure as President of Ghana.

According to him, after the NPP’s abysmal performance in the 2024 general elections, the party went back to refurbish Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and decided to bring him back to contest the upcoming elections.

He added that they are not perturbed because Alhaji Bawumia cannot win the 2028 elections.

Ahmmed Agbenyadzi further stated that Ghanaians voted for the NDC in 2024 for good governance and economic freedom, which the party is delivering; therefore, nothing can distract them from changing the fortunes of the country to bring joy to the citizenry.

“Voting for repackaging Dr. Bawumia to contest the 2028 election is a waste of resources because he has nothing new to offer Ghanaians,” he stated.

He also expressed concern about the NPP’s new reforms to elect a presidential candidate before electing other executives from the polling station level through the constituency and regional levels to the national level.

“In every election, the party elects its executives from the bottom to the top before electing the presidential candidate to lead them into the next elections but in this case, because of someone’s personal interest they want Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to become the flagbearer whether hook or crook and it is very worrying,” noted Mr. Agbenyadzi.

“If NPP elected the former Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to become their next flagbearer for the 2028 elections we will jubilate because he will help their Members of Parliament to lose more seats to NDC,” he revealed.

E/R: IPEIG Trains Headteachers On Effective Supervision Of Curriculum Implementation

The New Juaben South Municipal Education Directorate, in collaboration with the Institute of Professional Educators and Instructors – Ghana( IPEIG), has organized a one-day capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening headteachers’ ability to supervise effective curriculum implementation.

The workshop was targeted to equip all 52 Heads of Basic Schools in the municipality with in-depth knowledge of the new standard-based curriculum to supervise effectively curriculum interpretation, lesson design, as well as classroom and examination assessment in their respective schools.

According to the New Juaben South Municipal Director of Education, Mustapha Haruna Appiah, the training forms part of new measures to address some identified challenges teachers and heads of Basic Schools are confronted with in the classrooms as a result of the newly introduced standard-based curriculum.

The Director noted by saying “the idea of the workshop is that in going round to the schools they realized that most of the teachers do not know how to prepare the new lesson plan so they only just download them from the internet and even that they don’t comprehend what they have downloaded and as a result, they taught the schoolchildren different things altogether, a situation, he described as a pathetic.

“One of my core mandate is to organise a fresh courses, in-service training and we started with the Headteachers and the Coordinators to enable them to understand what we are doing so that in their vetting they will know how to vet well and impact it to their teachers to help them prepare better lesson notes for the pupils without depending on internet for assistance,” he added.

Mr. Appiah further highlighted that in assessing factors accounting for students’ poor performance in the outcome of the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination BECE, teachers and headteachers’ ability to fully implement the standard-based curriculum in their various schools stood out as one of the major factors hence the need to immediately address such existing gaps with training and workshops for heads and teachers.

The training was facilitated by a team led by the Executive Director of the Institute of Professional Educators and Instructors- Ghana, Dr. Godfred Marvin Owusu.

In his sessional address,  he emphasised the need to bridge the gaps and lapses that the introduction of the new standard-based curriculum has brought on both instructors and learners during instructional sessions.

According to Dr. Godfred Marvin Owusu Boateng,  such gaps are impacting negatively on learning output since the new standard-based curriculum was crafted beyond the resources available for the teacher at the centre of instruction, thereby limiting some teachers and heads to supervise effective curriculum implementation in their various schools.

He said “the teachers must be able to use the curriculum, be intentional and plan their lesson, and execute the same in the classroom , this will let the learners improve upon the previous two examinations they have written in the past two years”

“We’ve also realized that the teachers are not using the curriculum, so, when we don’t use the curriculum, WAEC will not take somebody’s book to prepare test items, if you don’t use the curriculum, either you will go ahead of WAEC, or you will go behind them,” he explained.

The workshop was also attended by Coordinators, and TST members

The Atiwa East District Assembly in the Eastern Region has inaugurated 16 Blue Water Guard personnel on Monday, January 19, 2026, after they underwent a month-long intensive military training, which included swimming lessons to prepare them for their duties.

The Blue Water Guard initiative was instituted by the government to assist the anti-illegal mining task force in apprehending galamsey operators who often dive into rivers to evade arrest during operations.

Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Ernest Owusu Ntim, emphasized that the government does not prohibit mining in Ghana, however, he stressed that mining must be conducted responsibly to safeguard water bodies and lands.

He noted that President John Dramani Mahama recognizes the vital role water resources play in human life, hence the training and remuneration of these young personnel to protect rivers from pollution caused by illegal mining.

For his part, the District Crime Officer of the Atiwa East Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Magnus Effah, explained that the police now have trained personnel capable of diving into rivers to pursue and arrest illegal miners attempting to escape.

He implored the guards to promptly call for police backup whenever they encounter danger during operations.

Mr. Isaac Noble Eshun, the outgoing Eastern Regional FC Manager, took to the dance floor with the staff to appreciate them for their unwavering support.

The outgoing Eastern Regional Forestry Commission Manager, Isaac Noble Eshun, has revealed that he nearly declined posting to the region due to challenges confronting the commission in the area.

According to him, before he was transferred from the Bono Region to the Eastern Region, he heard many things about the region that discouraged him, especially the galamsey activities.

“Once they posted me there, I had no option but to come and put in place measures and develop a strategy to curb those activities to change the narrative of the Forestry Commission Department in the region,” he recounted.

Mr. Eshun showered praise on his staff and the media, whose support helped him combat illegal miners (galamseyers) operating in some forest reserves, thereby preventing their destruction and safeguarding the environment.

The outgoing manager added that forest management is a shared responsibility, as it provides us with air. Therefore, it is incumbent on everybody to protect it by joining the government’s Tree for Life initiative, which aims to plant trees to help save the forest from collapse.

Mr. Eshun, who has been posted to the Ashanti Region, said his new assignment in the region would not be easy, but with the experience gained in both the Bono and Eastern Regions, he believes God will help him deliver and restore hope for the Forestry Commission in Ghana.

He made these remarks during his send-off ceremony, organized by the staff of the Eastern Regional Forestry Commission Department to appreciate him for his good works.

He used the opportunity to apologize to the Eastern staff of the Forestry Commission, asking that if in the course of his duty he stepped on anyone’s toes, they should forgive him.

Mr. Eshun then urged them to offer the same support they gave him to his successor, Isaac Sintim, to ensure his success.

Furthermore, the General Manager of Omega Wood Processing Limited, Henry Bat Anderson, who chaired the program, commended Noble Eshun, whose leadership brought great transformation to the Forestry Commission in the region.

“His human relations made everybody love and cooperate with him, and we believe that with his kind-hearted and selfless leadership, he will succeed in the Ashanti Region,” he stated.

He also wished him well in his future endeavors and indicated that his legacy will continue to inspire them.

Apostle Samuel Dadzie Launches Maiden Book ‘You Are Not Alone’

The General Overseer of the Leader’s Light International Church, Apostle Dr. Samuel Kofi Dadzie marked the first Sunday Service of 2026 with his maiden book launch entitled *’You Are Not Alone*’ at the Jerusalem Temple in Osabene, Eastern Region.

The book discusses how one should be self-reliant, be meaningful in life, and become a prominent person in the future.

According to the Apostle Dr. Kofi Dadzie, he deeply wept when writing the book due to the challenges confronting Africans.

“Many Africans travel overseas to seek greener pastures, but if they build themselves and use the same energy to work assiduously in their respective countries, Africa will develop, and being slaves in white man’s country will be a thing of the past,” he said.

Dr. Samuel Dadzie further said, when people come for counseling he realizes they are very much frustrated and don’t know what to do to address those problems they are experiencing.

He added that they go to the extent of forgetting that God is the only one who has solutions to every plight.

Thus, Dr. Samuel Dadzie disclosed that authoring the book is significant to encourage and make them know that they are not alone in life.

He continued and advised that, under no circumstances, should one depend on human beings for support when going through difficulties in life, but rather channel all burden unto God because he is with us and answers all problems.

Suhyenhemaa, Nana Amoanimaa Okokodrufuo, the special guest of honor for the program, commended Apostle Dr. Dadzie for launching his maiden book, which aims to impact lives.

“Apostle Kofi Dadzie was my University coursemate, and I saw how life treated him. When things fell apart for him, he didn’t give up because he knew he was not alone and today the God he served has honored him by writing his own book to encourage others who are also facing critical situations in life to enable them to know that there is hope for them, so, therefore, they should have faith in God,” she said

Nana Amoanimaa Okokodrufuo used the occasion and admonished parents to prioritize their children’s education no matter the hardship they are going through, observing that, it was through education that Apostle Kofi Dadzie maneuvered his way through life’s adversities.

The Youth Organizer for the Akuapem North constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region, Ahmmed Agbenyadzi has donated to his branch youth organizers for their unflinching support for the party.

The donation, according to the donor, follows their hard work, sacrifices, and dedication to helping the party win the 2024 general elections.

The donated items include 5Kg bags of rice, sardines, cooking oils, and an undisclosed amount of money for their transportation.

In his address, Mr. Agbenyadzi appreciated the efforts of the branch youth organizers for rallying behind him, their 2024 Parliamentary Candidate, John Evans Kumordzi, and, most importantly, President John Dramani Mahama in harnessing the seat from the NPP.

“For the first time in history, our votes in Akuapem North, both Parliamentary and Presidential increased because of your contributions, and you deserve commendation,” he expressed.

Mr. Agbenyadzi pleaded with them to exercise restraint for the government amid a job offer as the President and his cabinet are rolling out measures to ensure the youth are employed.
