An Akyem Takyiman-based businessman in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region, Foster Tetteh, popularly known as X-Bone, commemorated his 37th birthday  with a donation of educational materials to Basic Schools in the vicinity

He donated items includes 2,000 exercise books, 2, 000 pens, 10 sets of brand new jerseys, and 30 footballs.

The gesture, aimed to enhance education in Akyem Takyiman and its environs was presented at the community’s Palace during the Adae observation on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

This comes during a stakeholders meeting among traditional leaders, elders, and the residents to discuss the development of the area.

Speaking to Kontihen Kofi Oboh, X-Bone mentioned that his gesture stemmed from his urge to prioritise the people’s welfare, especially the less privileged in the various communities, to put smiles on their faces rather than wasting huge resources on flamboyant birthday celebrations.

He noted that education is the cornerstone of every developed country across the globe which is why he saw the need to provide support for all the Basic Schools in Akyem Takyiman.

This, he added, would enable the schoolchildren to be punctual with school attendance and become prominent figures for the country in the near future.

According to him, the denial of access to quality education of schoolchildren practicing illegal mining activities (galamsey) at a very tender age is because their parents lack the financial muscles to facilitate their education needs.

A situation, the donor, described as a threat and very devastating to the future careers of these children.

X-Bone advised schoolchildren in Akyem Takyiman to take their studies seriously and pledged his readiness to offer Senior High School (SHSs) education support to any candidate who records better results in his or her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He further entreated colleagues and businessmen in the area to emulate his gesture and help give hope to the vulnerable children.

“In doing so, every child in the community will get a better future and help contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Akyem Takyiman,” he underscores.

The Kontihene of Akyem Takyiman, Baffuor Kyei Danso II, thanked the donor for his kind gesture, saying it will go a long way to help the studies of the schoolchildren.

He was adamant that the people of Akyem Takyiman would experience a massive transformation should all and sundry follow in the footsteps of X-Bone.

The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region, Albert Nuamah, who is seeking re-election, has attributed the party’s poor performance in the 2024 election to the absence of some key members who exited the party.

He noted that the misunderstanding among the key actors of the party before the 2024 elections led some to break away and form their own political party and contested the election as an Independent Presidential Candidate.

A situation, he described as very devastating, and called on the party’s national leadership to put in place measures to avoid any future occurrence.

“However, if I am given the nod by our gallant delegates to continue serving the party as Chairman, I will bring everybody on board, especially the peeved ones, and find solutions to their bitterness to enable them to get involved in the 2028 election campaign to win power for the NPP,” he said.

Mr. Nuamah, therefore, entreated the Atiwa East NPP delegates to consider the reforms he had brought to the party during his first tenure in office and vote for him to continue his good work for the party.

The aspiring Youth Organizer of the constituency, Andrews Agyapong, mentioned that the youth are the foundation of every political party across the globe; therefore, he would initiate programs that would draw the youth in Atiwa East closer to the NPP to help them secure victory in 2028.

According to him, NPP is the only political party in Ghana that places the welfare of the Ghanaian youth first before anything else as compared to NDC, and indicated that if Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia were elected as the next President of Ghana in 2028, he would create more jobs for the youth to reduce social vices in the country.

Furthermore, the former Youth Organizer of the constituency, Benjamin Gamali Marvin showed his heartfelt appreciation to the constituency executives for elevating him to Organizer status without letting anyone contest him.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to work hand in hand with all the aspiring executives to help Dr. Bawumia and the NPP to win the 2028 elections.

The Atiwa East vetting committee Chairman, Anthony Osei Adjei, who serves as Eastern Regional NPP Secretary, on his part, after the program, advised all the aspirants to embark on a clean campaign and avoid using profane words for their opponents to secure sympathy votes from the delegates.

He noted that in doing so, after the election, they can come back and work together for the party to achieve its aim of winning the 2028 election.

They all made this known after vetting the constituency aspirants who want to serve the party in the next 4 years  as well as helping the party to recapture power in 2028.

The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akuapem South constituency of the Eastern Region, Michael Ahwireng, is seeking re-election for a third consecutive term in the upcoming constituency executive election, scheduled for July 11 and 12, 2027.

Speaking to Journalists after his successful vetting, Mr. Ahwireng reaffirmed his commitment to work effectively with his yet-to-be-elected new constituency executives to ensure that they reclaim the Parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.

According to him, the NDC’s Member of Parliament for the constituency, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, won the 2024 election with a margin of over 100 votes. He stated that the NPP needs unity and little effort to reclaim the seat.

Mr. Ahwireng further cited that the NDC lost the Upper West Akim Parliamentary seat to the NPP in 2020, but after reorganizing themselves well and working as a team, they won it back in 2024.

Against this scenario, he believes that the same thing will occur in Akuapem South after the 2028 election.

He used the opportunity and appealed to the Akuapem South NPP delegates to re-elect him as Chairman, and reiterated that he would collaborate with other executive members to work hard to win back the parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2028 elections for the NPP.

The aspiring Secretary of the constituency, Evans Ivan Opare Obeng said that one of his aims is to bring all the various groups in the area together and have a dialogue with them, and propagate their vision to them to enable them to vote for the NPP in 2028, if he is elected as Secretary.

He also reiterated his readiness to help the other aspiring executive members to grab the Parliamentary seat from the NDC.

Mr. Opare also urged their delegates to have confidence in him and vote for him to become the next secretary of the party in Akuapem South.

The incumbent Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region, Charles Oseipoku Boakye, who is seeking re-election, has described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a deceitful and unreliable political party in Ghana.

He made these remarks after a successful vetting held at their Party office in the Old Estate, Koforidua, where he picked up the number 2 slot on the ballot paper to contest their July 11 and 12, 2026 constituency executive election.

According to Charles Boakye, he can’t fathom why Ghanaians voted for the NDC in 2024 based on the Nkoko Nkitinkiti and 24-hour economy initiatives.

Oseipoku Boakye echoed that when they [NDC] failed to execute their numerous promises made to the good people of Ghana, they had now turned the 24-hour economy initiative into a marketing construction.

He cited that the Koforidua Agatha market, which supports many vulnerable market women, has been demolished for the construction of a 24-hour economy market, and this demonstrates how they are struggling to govern the country.

“No country across the globe can run a 24-hour economy when the economy itself is in a shambolic state, and this is the current situation in which Ghana finds itself now, under President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress administration,” mentioned Charles Oseipoku Boakye.

The New Juaben South aspiring Chairman then entreated Ghanaians to critically examine the country’s happenings and consider voting for the NPP in 2028, as Ghana enjoys economic freedom when their party is in power.

Some Ghanaians have questioned the credibility of some of the people who are aspiring to become the executive members of the New Patriotic Party because they believe it is only the elite who run their party.

Reacting to this, Charles Oseipoku Boakye stated that now things have changed, and if you’re a political party and you want to capture political power, it is your responsibility to open your arms for anybody who wants to serve the party.

“Which is why this time around our party has paved the way for anyone who qualifies to contest the constituency executive election, and indicated that it shouldn’t always be the intellectuals to lead our great party, and in doing so, it will unify the party members to work hard for NPP to win the 2028 election,” he explained.

Mr. Boakye then appealed to the more than 1,000 NPP delegates expected to participate in this exercise to elect new executives to run the party in New Juaben South for the next 4 years to look at his performance and the peace he has installed among the party members to retain him to continue his good work for NPP.

The Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, located in the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region, in partnership with Admissions Expert and the Philippine Christian University, hosted an International Conference on Digital Education and Pedagogical Innovation on Wednesday, June 24,  and it is expected to end on Friday, June 26, 2026.

The 3-day event was celebrated under the theme: “Rethinking Pedagogy In The Digital World: Skills And Competencies Of Educators And Learners: Policies And Infrastructure Support.”

Speaking to Journalists,  the Principal of the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, Rev. Dr. Charles Fosu-Ayarkwah, urged Ghana to embrace and get involved in the digital space to shape the minds of our young ones to enable them to compete with other kids who are using digital skills to do sophisticated machines in their respective countries.

Rev. Dr. Ofosu-Ayarkwa said that digitalization has made the world a global village, and it has helped many people to pursue their courses across the continent without stressing themselves traveling abroad to study those courses, indicating that these are some of the reliefs digital technology has brought to humanity.

However, he cautioned that since the educators are teaching the learners about digitalization skills by using iPads, mobile phones, and other tools to access the internet for their research, there should be a limitation for them, and they must be monitored to ensure they don’t abuse the internet to watch unholy content that would negatively impact their lives and in doing so it would help them to become innovators we want for the country.

On his part, Professor Christopher Yawkwah, the Vice Dean of the School of Educational Development and Outreach at the University of Cape Coast, admonished educators to keep themselves abreast with digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable them to educate schoolchildren.

Professor Yawkwah noted that, aside from digital and AI creating job opportunities for people, it also has its challenges and urged teachers to do fact-checking after the information given by the AI before giving the learners such information because AI can sometimes be misinformed, and practicing this daily in a classroom will enable them to give true and accurate information to the schoolchildren.

Furthermore, Koku Anyidoho who is pursuing his PhD in Theology at the Philippian Christian University and the same time represented the Dr. Junifen Gauuan, the President of the Philippine Christian University, Philippines mentioned that Information Technology has become part of us and all the successive governments of Ghana are trying very hard to build ICT laboratories across the country to enhance our kids’ knowledge about the digitalization skills in Ghana.

He added that for every Ghanaian child to benefit from the digital skills, especially those in the hard-to-reach areas, the government must ensure that telcos enhance their service to enable them to have access to a quality network for their operations.

On Sunday, 21st June 2026, I  received with shock and deep concern reports of the alleged shooting incident involving my predecessor, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Later in the day, I visited her at the hospital and was pleased to see her in good spirits. News of this unfortunate incident is therefore particularly disturbing.

I strongly condemn this alleged act of violence in all its forms. Such incidents undermine public safety and threaten the peace and stability we all cherish.

I call on all well-meaning Ghanaians to join in condemning this act and to reaffirm our collective commitment to peace, tolerance, and respect for human life.

I further urge the Inspector-General of Police and the Ghana Police Service to act swiftly and professionally to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and ensure that all persons responsible are identified and brought to book in accordance with the law.

At this time, I also appeal to the public to remain calm and avoid speculation while investigations are ongoing. Let us allow the security agencies to carry out their work and establish the full facts.

My thoughts and prayers are with Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, and I wish her a speedy recovery.

The Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in New Juaben South, Eastern Region, Charles Oseipoku Boakye, has embarked on an electoral area visitation to seek re-election ahead of the constituency executive election slated for July 11 and 12, 2026.

The visitation forms part of his campaign strategy to reorganize and unite the party’s grassroots base, sell his vision, and outline what he intends to do for party members if given the mandate by delegates to continue serving as Chairman.

“In my last four years in office, I have achieved many successes in playing a key role in supporting my Member of Parliament, Michael Okere Baafi, and the former Municipal Chief Executive of the New Juaben South Municipality, Isaac Apau Gyasi, to champion numerous infrastructure projects for the good people of New Juaben South when the NPP was in power,” he cited.

Oseipoku Boakye further stated that during the Presidential Primary, while other constituency chairmen were hesitant to declare their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the region, he stood out and worked tirelessly to ensure Dr. Bawumia won convincingly in his constituency.

“When I became the Chairman of the party in 2022, I realized that there was bitterness among some party members, and I had to put in place measures to unify them, and today, there is peace in the NPP in New Juaben South,” he recounted.

He believes that if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wins the 2028 election, things will change in the country, and Koforidua will see more developmental projects because of the relationship he [Oseipoku Boakye] has with him; therefore, urging Ghanaians to give him the opportunity to become the next President of Ghana.

He added that one term deserves another, thus pleading with the New Juaben South NPP delegates to look at what he has done in the past 4 years and re-elect him to continue his good works.

The Aspiring 1st Vice Chairperson on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Fanteakwa South Constituency of the Eastern Region, Dora Obenewaa, has said that she would make history in the upcoming constituency executive election slated for July 11 and 12, 2026.

According to her, when she was the Women’s Organizer for the constituency, she initiated numerous programs that positively impacted many lives, and she aims to continue this work if she becomes the next 1st Vice Chairperson.

Dora Obenewaa revealed that most women don’t contest for such positions in the various political parties in the country because men have been occupying these positions for decades, but she is here to change the narrative in the NPP by defeating them to set a new record.

Madam Obenewaa further said that, currently, every NPP member is looking forward to coming together, reorganizing, and positioning themselves well and putting in much effort to recapture power from their main contender, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in 2028.

Dora Obenewaa told Kontihen Kofi Oboh that women in their party will play a major role in winning the 2028 elections, hence vying for the 1st Chairperson position to mobilize them to work hand in hand to clinch victory from the NDC.

Furthermore, Madam Obenewaa said that when a political party goes into opposition, many people criticize them, but when they correct their wrongs and form a formidable team and work hard, they clinch power again; therefore, it is not true that the NPP is unattractive to Ghanaians.

She stated that for NPP to secure power in 2028 wouldn’t come on a silver platter; rather, it requires hard work, sacrifice, determination, and leaders who can champion a new strategy to make their dream become reality to enable them to defeat the NDC.

Madam Obenewaa used the occasion to plead with the Fanteakwa South NPP delegates to give her the nod to become the next 1st Vice Chairperson of the party in Fanteakwa South and she will collaborate with other elected executives to win power for the NPP in 2028.

Ebenezer Tettey, the husband of Dora Obenewaa, also said that when his wife informed him about her decision to contest for the 1st Vice Chairperson position in the Fanteakwa South constituency, he didn’t say anything because he knew what she was capable of, and he had to support her to go for the ultimate.

Mr. Tettey then advised men to encourage and support their wives when seeking positions because it is not easy for women to compete with men in the same race, and he believes his wife will emerge victorious after the election.

The Akuapem North Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, on Friday, June 12, 2026,  celebrate the World Day against Child Labour at Akropong under the theme: “Red Card To Child Labour: Fair Play For Children, Decent Work For Adults In Akuapem North.”

Speaking at the program, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, John Evans Kumordzi, mentioned that children are not required to engage in hard labour, but rather they are meant to be in school, learning, among others, and prepare themselves to become responsible citizens as he had dreamed of becoming in the future.

“However, many children continue to engage in activities that expose them to physical, emotional, and psychological harm, while denying them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“As a Municipal Assembly, we recognize that investing in children is the most important investment we can make for the future of Akuapem North and Ghana as a whole,” he said.

Mr. Kumordzi stated that they are committed to creating an enabling environment where every child will have access to quality education and adequate protection.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to support initiatives that promote skills development, entrepreneurship, job creation, and social protection programmes to improve household incomes and reduce the vulnerabilities that fuel child labour. The Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly

On his part, the Member of Parliament for the constituency,  Sammi Awuku said that many Ghanaians are being affected by the dire consequences of economic hardship, with the cost of living on the rise, compelling children to take on difficult jobs in their efforts to support their parents.

“While appreciating these realities, we must also agree that the answer cannot be at the expense of a child’s future,” he opined.

The MP then encouraged parents and guardians not to relent in their responsibilities.

“We must continue to work hard, make sacrifices, and provide for our families to the best of our ability. Our children should not be forced to carry burdens that belong to adults. Rather, we must allow them to focus on their education and personal development so that they can grow into responsible adults who will one day contribute positively to society and support their families in return.

“Every child in Akuapem North deserves the opportunity to learn, to dream, and to develop their God-given talents. Whether that child lives in Akropong, Mampong, Aburi, Larteh, Tutu, or any other community, they deserve a fair chance in life,” noted Sammi Awuku.

Furthermore, Rebecca Tetteh, the Program Head, Child and Family Welfare at the Department of Social Welfare, Eastern Regional Directorate, added that this year’s theme speaks clearly to the collective responsibility, and it reminds us that child labour is not just a violation of children’s rights; it is also a threat to their survival, protection, development, education, dignity, and future opportunities.

She indicated that the Department remains committed to promoting the protection and welfare of every child in Ghana.

“Through collaboration with government agencies, development partners, traditional authorities, community leaders, schools, and families, we continue to support interventions aimed at preventing child labour, strengthening child protection systems, and providing support services for vulnerable children and families,” she added.

The Mobile Telephone Network (MTN) Ghana Foundation, has refurbished and repaired damaged medical equipment at the Eastern Regional Hospital as part of its annual ’21-Day Yellow Care’ initiative held in June.

The refurbished and repaired medical equipment includes beds, trolleys, drip stands, and wheelchairs, among others.

The theme for the Y’ello Care 2026 is: “Expanding equitable health for every community: strengthening access to quality, preventative, and responsive healthcare services for underserved and remote populations.”

Speaking to Journalists, Ransford Gyan, the MTN Area Sales Manager for Eastern, Oti, and Volta Regions, mentioned that the motive behind the Foundation’s 21-Day Yellow Care was to play its shared responsibilities in addressing the ‘No-Bed Syndrome’ in the various Teaching Hospitals in the country.

He noted that the same event is taking place in both the Oti and the Volta Regions to enable the beneficiary hospitals to provide quality health services to their patients.

Mr. Gyan further stated that there would be a massive health screening across all 16 regions in the country, and indicated that the Nkurakan community would hold the Eastern Regional exercise because the health and well-being of Ghanaians are one of their topmost priorities.

“We also understand that anything worth doing must be done intentionally. Y’ello Care is one of the things that we do intentionally to remind ourselves of the responsibility placed on us as people who are privileged in many ways to give back to communities that need us to do so,” he noted.

He added that it is also a reminder that it is these seemingly small things that they have been doing over 19 years that have kept MTN relevant in the business sector for the past 30 years. 

Mr. Gyan, according to him, these gestures will guarantee their longevity into the future as they seek to provide solutions for Africa and Ghana’s progress.

He believes that this 21-Day Yellow Care is a good initiative because it is disgusting that someone would lose a family member as a result of the shortage of hospital beds, whereby there are a lot of broken-down beds that could be fixed to save people’s lives.

He then called on other institutions, NGOs, and philanthropists to emulate them so that they could eradicate the ‘No-Bed Syndrome’ situation in the country to enhance the health sector.

It is worthy to know that the MTN Ghana Foundation, through its 21-Day Yellow Care initiative, has targeted to refurbish and repair over 10,000 pieces of medical equipment across selected hospitals nationwide before the end of June, 2026.
