The Eastern Regional Secretary for National Democratic Part (NDP), Mr. Gideon Amoasi Ampah has punched the leader and flagbearer for NDC H. E. the former Prez John Dramani Mahama that he can’t pay the Assembly Members as he claims, a situation he describes as a ‘Scam’.

Mr. Gideon Amoasi Ampah

According to him, NDC told Ghanaians in the page 15 of their 2012 manifesto that if they win the elections they will pay the Assembly Members. They won the 2012 general elections but they couldn’t fulfilled their own promise.

“Today the same person former Prez John Mahama says if he wins the 2020 general elections he will pay the Assembly Members. The question is’, what has changed from 2012 to 2016 of which he couldn’t pay them”.

‘Again Mr. Mahama says, if he had the opportunity to become Prez in 2020, he will make primary health care for free meanwhile we are enjoying it already. It is time to do away with lies from our active politics and let the Ghanaians know the truth,’ stressed Mr. Ampah.

Commissioning Of Eastern University: Expression Of Gratitude To JDM And Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman

Press Release: Wednesday, 5th August 2020

The Yilo Krobo Constituency NDC as well as the good people of Kroboland are happily informed of the Commisioning of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), situated in Somanya in the Eastern Region.

We are happy today because one of the dreams of the NDC has come to fruition. A dream given birth to by Late Prof. J.E.A Mills, carried through and made possible by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as President, and Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman as Minister of Education. A vision by the NDC in making sure that all 10 regions at the time, had Public Universities.

We are grateful to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for his sterling leadership and efforts in obtaining the needed £45m to
commence the Project. We also salute Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, who was instrumental in the project when she served as Minsiter of Education.

We are however saddened by the fact that, the Project, which should have seen a satellite campus established at Donkorkrom did not materialize because the NPP government decided to take that project to Kyebi, the hometown of Nana Akuffo Addo.

We also salute the NDC minority caucus in Parliament, for spotting the plot by the NPP government to move the main Campus from Somanya. We cannot end without giving praise to the Cheifs and Youth of Kroboland, who stood their ground with series of Demonstrations which eventually compelled government to stick to the original plan. However, we take note that, there is seemingly a shortfall with regards to the number of building facilities before this Commisioning.

We wish to remind Nana Akuffo Addo not to re-visit his usual habit of taking credit for what he has no hand in, and to appreciate the efforts of his Predecessor John Dramani Mahama who we celebrate today.

To the People of Donkorkrom and environs whose hopes have been dashed, we say a future NDC government will Construct the satellite campus of the same University at Donkorkrom since it is our vision to do so.

Thank you.

Signed………..

Krobo Bloc NPP Communication Bureau: Setting The Records Right About The UESD

Press Release: Wednesday, 5th August 2020

Krobos are grateful to HE Nana Addo for doing all it takes to mobilize funds for the construction of the University of Environment and Sustainability Development , as stated in the attached press release of Contracta, dated 21st May 2018.

We are also grateful to the previous government for ensuring the enactment of the UESD Act .

However, we will not forget the story that led us here, the lies perpetuated by the NDC that that Nana Addo’s government will never construct the university.

We have also not forgotten the lies of the the NDC that, the university , including it key installations has been moved to kyebi. We will pardon them for how clueless they are on issues of enactments and the steps it takes for a University to be established.

We will also not forget the lies they told us that ndc has made funds available for the University’s construction.

The facts are as follows;

  1. The framework agreement signed between the Government of Ghana and Exim Bank of South Korea for the construction of the university stated specifically that the university’s four faculties would be sited in Somanya. Indeed, prior to this, Donkorkrom had been considered as a site by the bank at the suggestion of the previous government and rejected.
  2. The previous government reneged on this agreement by bringing in a contractor from Brazil to do the work Exim Bank had been contracted to do. Exim Bank protested strongly against the breach of faith and decided to abandon the project as it did not intend to share the site with the Brazilian contractor.
  3. Exim Bank requested another site for a campus of the university, failing which it would pull out of the project altogether. Eventually, it settled on the Bunso Agricultural College as the nucleus of another campus of the university, and on agreement with government, moved to commence work there.
  4. In its handover notes during the transition, the previous government did not mention Donkorkrom as a prospective site, clearly because there had been no agreement to site a university campus there. Indeed, on page 21 of the handing over notes, it is stated;
  5. Following the enactment of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development Act 2015(Act 898) Parliament has approved a loan facility of Forty-Five Million Five Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Euros (€45,575,000.00) for the establishment of the proposed University at Somanya in the Eastern Region.
  6. The University of Environment and Development Studies (UEDS), like all public projects, is a national one.
  7. It must be stated for the avoidance of doubt that in making decisions on project siting and the disbursement of public funds in this country, the government under the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo is solely guided by the public interest above everything else. This is the only way to build a fair, equitable and prosperous country.

We are all witnesses to how the UESD became a reality.

The Eastern University was captured in 2009 budget statement-No show
Was captured in 2010 budget-No show
Was captured in 2011 budget-No show
Was captured in 2012 budget-No show
Was captured in 2013 budget-no show
Was captured in 2014 budget-No show
Was captured in 2015 budget-No show
Was captured in 2016 budget-No show

But under Nana Addo in 3yrs this project has seen start and completion. With the second phase to start immediately.

As the UESD is commissioned today we also see the start of the second phase.

For years ndc has won the seat of kroboland yet we have not seen any monumental project by them to the people of kroboland.

It is only NPP that is has taken the development of kloma as it major priority, the evidence is the University of Environment and Sustainability Department that is being commissioned today.

We say Thank you HE Nana Addo.
