NPP Women Organizer Bemoaned The Suspension Of The Parliamentary Primaries In Akuapem South

Barbara Sampana, Women Org. – Akuapem South Constituency.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP), Women Organizer for Akuapem South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Barbara Sampana expressed her frustration over the suspension of its parliamentary primary.

She said the suspension of the constituency poll coupled with the party’s continuous silence on rescheduling a date for the exercise is a development that is unhealthy for Akuapem South and the NPP’s national front at large.

The NPP, before its nationwide primaries on January 27, 2024, to elect parliamentary candidates at constituencies where it has sitting Members of Parliaments suspended the poll of some areas including Akuapem South over issues of court injunction among others.

Commenting on the matter, Madam Sampana expressed that neither an official communique nor a new date has been communicated to the leadership of the constituency on holding their polls to elect a parliamentary candidate.

According to the Women Organiser, the absence of a Parliamentary Candidate for the area is not only affecting their campaign within the constituency but also their inability to sell the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the people without a parliamentary candidate.

She then admonished the National Executive of the party to fastrack their discussions around the affected constituencies amid resolving all issues at hand to pave the way for them to go to the polls to elect a leader to lead the area for the forthcoming December 7, 2024, general elections.

Barbara Sampana used the opportunity and entreated the party faithful in the area to exercise some patience as the leadership of the party will soon fix a new date for its primary.

Nana Kwadjo Opare, Kyebi Kpanohene.

The Kyebi Kpanohene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council in the Eastern Region, Nana Kwadjo Opare popularly known as SIMPLE BIRDMAN has registered his displeasure about the continued change of government in the country every eight years.

According to him, changing governments after every 8-year retards the development of the country.

He however noted that “If a government is maintained, there wouldn’t be any need to fund a new project from scratch as the incumbent government will have no option but to complete the previous ones they have started.”

Nana Opare, against this backdrop, believes will help the country in developmental projects and help in its progress.

He explained that although change is very paramount in every aspect of life, change of power should be considered based on underperformance and failure to execute promises.

The Kyebi Kpanohene was speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH when he made the assertion.

The traditional ruler who doubles as the CEO of Simple Birdman Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization, said Ghana will see transformation in development once Ghanaians inculcate the habit of maintaining a performing government of the day and be devoid of political motivation.

NPP Primaries: Be Neutral In Your Dealings… Abuakwa North MCE Urges Constituency Executives

Alhaji Umar B.K. Bodinga, MCE- Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Babs Kofi Bodinga has admonished the New Patriotic Party’s (NPPs) Constituency Executives across the country especially those in the Eastern Region to remain neutral in their dealings ahead of the upcoming parliamentary primaries scheduled for January 27, 2024.

In the Eastern Region, 85 candidates successfully filed their nomination forms to join the parliamentary primaries race but at the end of the vetting 82 candidates were cleared, 2 were disqualified and 1 candidate couldn’t show up at the vetting due to health issues.

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, the Abuakwa North MCE who doubles as the former Eastern Regional First Vice Chairman for NPP called for the need for the constituency executives to allow all candidates to do their campaign alone to ensure transparency.

Alhaji Umar Bodinga noted that failure to adhere to his advice one’s a candidate of an executive loses his or her bid will breed bitterness among other candidates who couldn’t get support during their campaign and that may lead to division in the party.

According to him, the Ministry of Local Government and Decentralization told all the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives across the country to stay away from the parliamentary primaries until the Parliamentary Candidate is elected before they can campaign for that candidate to either maintain the NPPs seat or claim it from the NDC’s Member of Parliament.

“This is what I want the Constituency Executives to emulate to bring peace, unity, and harmony in the party after the Parliamentary Candidate is being elected.”

He then advised the delegates to vote for someone whom the entire constituents preferred and help them win more parliamentary seats but shouldn’t vote for someone whom the constituents don’t like and after the December 7, 2024 elections, they will lose their seats to their main opponent National Democratic Congress.

“Should we want to break the 8-year jinx then our delegates should listen to the masses and vote for their preferred Parliamentary Candidate “, he stated.

Alhaji Babs Bodinga noted that, before their Presidential primaries, the majority of Ghanaians said that it was their party that could run and manage the affairs of this country well so if they don’t bring Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia in 2024 they won’t vote and they gave them what they wanted so the Constituency delegates should also do same for them to win both Presidential and the Parliamentary Seat.

Wassa Amenfi East MP Embarks On Dredging Of The Drainages In His Constituency

The Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East constituency in the Western Region Nicholas Amankwah has begun dredging the major storm drains in Wassa Akropong ahead of the rains.

The drains are heavily choked due to a cocktail of activities such as dumping of both biodegradable and non-biodegradable refuse into the drain whilst some use it as a place of convenience and this has resulted in the growing of shrubs and various plants that block the free flow of water.

The Wassa Amenfi East MP has hired an excavator which is currently desilting the Adankasa Ridge river behind the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area Palace which spans through the Angola Annex and some flood-prone drains in the area.

Being executed by the members of Parliament, the exercise is part of measures to prevent the drainage systems in the capital from becoming choked during the rainy season.

It’s recalled that, in June 2023, several residents of water-logged areas in Wassa Amenfi East decried the destruction of properties and livelihoods caused by incessant flooding in Wassa Akropong, the Municipal Capital of Amenfi East in the Western Region.

The havoc caused by the flood made the MP visit those affected areas including the Akropong-China Market, Farmers, and Christ Apostolic Church to commensurate with them.

Thus, as part of measures to avert any unforeseen tragedy this year, Nicholas Amankwah has promised to carry out several interventions to curb flooding in his constituency.

Amankwah who is affectionately called ‘Home Boy’ told the media on Tuesday that some of his interventions included clearing some major drainages in the area.

He was therefore hopeful that his intervention would significantly reduce the impact of havoc caused by rains in the community.

Nicholas Amankwah added, that his office was very determined to make the Municipality safe for residents and visitors and ensure that no innocent soul or property is lost.

He then entreated his constituents to prioritize sanitation first in everything they do because their health is their wealth.
