Asuogyaman Residents Yearn For Me As MP Return—Paul Ansah Hints

A Parliamentary hopeful for the people of Asuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region, Paul Asare Ansah says the people is yearning for his coming as Member of Parliament.

According to him, he remains the only hope of the people thus hoping for him to be elected as MP.

He made the statement while submitting his nomination forms at the party’s office in the constituency on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, to contest for a slot in the party’s coming primaries.

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH having successfully submitting the forms, Paul Asare Ansah noted, that majority of the constituents are dying of hunger due to frustration coupled with unemployment and poverty.

He therefore asked the people to give him the mandate to lead the party in the 2024 general election and subsequently vote him as MP to change the fortunes of the people.

Ensuring he achieve the feat, Mr. Ansah said he will bring to the area developmental policies and projects and also advocate for a health policy to help make the people strong to prevent unwanted death.

Adding that, medical checkup through screening under his leadership would become a compulsory policy in the Asuogyaman constituency.

“I’m of strong convection that, if we are able to do that, the number of deaths would be minimize in our various hospitals and the amount of money being spent on our medical treatment would also be reduced”, he opined.

Paul Asare Ansah who contested the 2020 parliamentary elections having been elected in the NPP’s primaries in 2019 eventually lost the seat narrowly to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, he is confident that he will be unseat the NDC’s MP Thomas Ampem Nyarko should the delegates vote for him again.

He emphasized, that his aim of coming to contest for the second time is to help resolve the unemployment situation in the area.

On their part, some delegates who accompanied him to file his nomination forms added that Paul Ansah is a unifier and he deserve to be given another nod to lead them into the 2024 elections because he remains the only person who can recapture the seat for the NPP in Asuogyaman after years.

The NPP Secretary for Asuogyaman Constituency, Christian Okomfo Addo after receiving the forms from Paul Asare Ansah indicated the executives have advised all aspirants competing for the parliamentary position to refrain from politics of insult.

He believes that is the only way they can form a unifying front after the primaries and rally their support behind the winner to unseat the NDC.

Mamfehene Signs MoU With KNUST Over Mamfe Eco Tourist Project

The Mamfehene, Osaberima Ansah Sasreku III has on Friday, August 4, 2023, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) together with its Alumni Association of the institution over the Mamfe Eco Tourism complex Project.

On last year 2022, the Mamfehene gave out 7 acres of land to support his reign for KNUST to be used for the Eco Park project.

To affirm this, he formally signed a MoU that testifies he [Mamfehene] has officially offer the land for free.

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, the Mamfene who doubles as the Kyidomhene of Akuapem Traditional Council in the Eastern Region indicated that he considered how beneficial the project would be to the unborn generation through developmental before offering the land.

Osaberima Sasreku underscores that even if himself and the current leadership of the KNUST are no more, the initiative would become a bond between the people of Mamfe and the institution.

“When this Eco Park is being completed, Mamfe would be developed because people from Ghana and abroad would come for excursions or tour over there and it will boost their local economy and will also create job opportunities for the residents living in the area,” he stated.

He ceased the opportunity and urged his colleagues Chiefs to embraced developmental projects for their people instead of seeking for their personnel gains.

He indicated that, he is optimistic that, per the enthusiasm of the school child who had the opportunity to witness the project, he is confidence these children would continue the unfinished works of their predecessors.

Speaking at the program, James Kwasi Oberko, the Senior Assistant Registrar of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology who represented the Vice Chancellor of the School, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson said, the KNUST was grateful to the overlord of Mamfe for his kind gesture.

He concluded by assuring that the University would put in all efforts to support children from Mamfe through education to give them a better future.

The New Patriotic Party Chairman for New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Charles Oseipoku Boakye has declared his support for Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu who is vying for the Flagbearer position to lead their party into the 2024 general elections.

According to him, looking at the wind that is blowing and the prominent people who are following Dr. Alhaji Bawumia in his campaign trips shows that everything favors him amongst the nine other aspirants who are vying for the position.

Oseipoku Boakye assured to vote for the Vice President both in their Special and Supper Delegates Conference slated for August 26 and November 4, 2023 respectively to win the elections.

He mentioned this at Koforidua Culture Centre on Monday, August 7, 2023 when the Vice President interact with the delegates in the constituency and asked them to vote him in their upcoming internal elections.

Addressing the delegates, the President hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said, taking into consideration the achievement of the NPP ahead of 2024 there’s no government with such feat.

“Because no political party in the country has break the eight jinx before so they are saying it’s not possible but am [Bawumia] saying it’s possible”, he stated.

“That is why when the party opens the nomination I also went and pick up my forms to contest the flagbearership race and win the 2024 general elections for NPP to break the Eight,” he continued.

Core Mandate Of A Treasurer Is To Mobilizes Funds…New Juaben South Treasure

The treasurer for New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region, Daniel Opoku has stated, that the main responsibility of the treasure is to solicit for funds to support the party’s programs.

According to him, when voted as treasure for the constituency, he made a promise of looking for money to support the grassroots so that they can discharge their duties accordingly to support the party.

“So, after our elections, I told my other constituency executives I want to solicit for money to support the party because without the logistics and financial support for the grassroots we cannot win the 2024 elections and they agreed”, he adds.

Daniel Opoku told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH on Sunday, August 6, 2024, at Becca Hotel in Koforidua when he championed the Logistics and Fundraising event in support of grassroots in the constituency in aid of retaining power come 2024.

He stressed that, they would use money they generated from the program to purchase megaphones and motorbikes among other things for the grassroots members to go to the hard-to-reach areas to do campaign for NPP to break the 8.

Furthermore, the NPP Chairman for New Juaben South Constituency, Charles Oseipoku Boakye also said, to enable achieve this feat depends on the unity that exist between the party executives.

“If the constituency executives committee meet, we allow everybody to share his or her opinion and our main aim is to fight for development for the party members to live good, saying, they cannot exempt money from the work they’re doing; hence their support for the treasure to come up with such program”, he opined.

On his part, Michael Okyere Baafi, the Member of Parliament for the constituency in his address noted that what they have achieve constitute the contribution of all and sundry which is very important for the party likewise what the Daniel Opoku has done.

Abuakwa North MP Promise GH¢5K To Best B.E.C.E Female Candidates

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Gifty Twum Ampofo has promised to give GHS5,000.00 to the female candidates who would get aggregate six (6) in the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) in her constituency.

According to her, in 2022 the female B.E.C.E graduates performed well but none of them had aggregate six therefore they have to be motivated to lift up their performance in this year’s exams; hence the promise.

Gifty Twum Ampofo, MP-Abuakwa North Constituency, when motivating and advising some of the B.E.C.E at Saviour S.H.S center to pass the exams for her.

She noted, that if the candidates do not pass the exams in as much as they won’t benefit from the free S.H.S policy is also a security threat for the country that’s why it is important to her to motivated them to get good results to be able to continue their education at the S.H.S level through to tertiary.

Gifty Ampofo again promises to give GHS1,000.00 to any male candidates who would also obtain aggregate six as well, because she wants them to pass the exams, spend her money and get better Senior High Schools of their choice to attend and be beneficial of the Free TVET and SHS policy.

In last year’s exams, the Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Umar Bodinga also promised to give GHS500.00 to any girl candidates who would have single digit and only 10 girls got it but this time around he is looking for aggregate six.

He said, he has increase it to GHS1,000.00 indicating they are doing this to encourage more girls to learn hard to get the good grades and make them proud.

“When we promised to give them such amount of money, I could see the joy on their faces and this means they all want to obtain said aggregate and get the money home”, he told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.

Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly presented 1,680 candidates for this year’s B.E.C. E which comprises of 828 boys and 808 girls. Meanwhile, 58,895 candidates sit for the exams in the Eastern Region, the boys are 30,025 and girls are 28,870.

Mamfehene Donates Maths Sets And Sanitary Pads To B.E.C.E Candidates

The Mamfehene, Nana Ansah Sasreku who doubles as the Kyidomhene of Akuapem Traditional Council in the Eastern Region has donated mathematical sets and sanitary pads to the candidates who will sit for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) in the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly.

Candidates from the 13 Basic Schools in the following towns are the beneficiaries of the items; Mampong, Larteh, Akropong, Amanokrom and Obosomase but the sanitary pads were given to only the girls.

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Nana Ansah Sasraku said, one of the teachers from the area appealed to him to take the B.E.C.E candidates to tour and visit some of the Senior High Schools in and outside the Municipality so during the trip, unfortunately one of the girls menstruated herself in the bus and they had to find a way to dress her up.

“So in the discussion on the trip, the teacher informed me that sometimes they get into such situations especially when to writing the B.E.C.E and it could occur that someone may have her period and because of they luck the sanitary pads it could affect their state of minds or even they won’t come and write it again”, he added.

Nana Sasreku adds, after returning from the trip, he spoke to some people and they support him with the sanitary pads so he distributed them to the Basic Schools in Mamfe.

Later on, one of the donors, Nana Ofosu Yeboah asked him to do same for the other schools in the Municipality; hence his move to supports the candidates from the aforementioned towns with the items.

Again he said, the Nanaanom of Mamfe has banned BECE graduates from organising parties after finishing school, the Basic School is just the beginning of the education lader and they have to focus much on what is ahead of them.

He then wish them well and advice them to learn hard to be able to pass the exams and take advantage of the government Free S.H.S policy to better their future.

Receiving the items on behalf the candidates, the Akuapem North Municipal Girls Education Officer, Gifty Eshun thanked the Mamfehene for his kind gesture.

She also told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, that the high cost sanitary pads compiled many school girls to use t-roll or newspapers when menstruating which is not good for their health.

She further stressed, that some girls too since they don’t have money to buy sanitary pads when they are menstruating they don’t come to school at all unless they’re done. So would pleaded with the gov’t or any other institutions to do well to at least once a while distribute some to the schools.

Ministers, MPs And CEOs Endorsing You Do Not Mean….SOS To Bawumia

The Youth Organizer for New Juaben North Constituency in the Eastern Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Osei Sarkodie has said, Ministers, Members of Parliament and Chief Executive Officers who have endorsed the Vice President candidature doesn’t guarantee him of winning the Flagbearership position.

According to him, when going into an elections, most people always aligned themselves with a candidates who have the resources but those candidates has never won elections before with their huge followers.

“Because, before every elections would come to an end, the delegates would decide whom they wanted to lead them in their party”, he told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.

Samuel Sarkodie recalled how Justin Frimpong Kodua heavily defeated the party’s former General Secretary, John Boadu, indicating, that prior to their National Delegates Congress 15 out of their 16 Regional Chairmen declared their support for John Boadu but in the end of the contest the delegates changed the scenario and Frimpong Kodua won the General Secretaryship position.

These he said same feat would repeat itself between John Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia come November 4, 2023.

Speaking further with KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH he added that, Alan Kyerematen is not worried at all about the crowd following Bawumia on his campaign trip because he believe in democracy and once the presidential position of the party become vacant everybody can contest for it to build up their CVs for the future references.

But he [Kwadwo Kyerematen] is of strong conviction, that the polling station executives would glorify him because their welfare is his priority; hence creating job opportunities at the various constituencies level for them to also get job doing and get money to feed their families should he become the next President of the country.

In conclusion, he stated, that, Vice President Bawumia won’t understand why Alan Kyerematen is saying Eduro Me So because he wasn’t the one who suffered and sacrificed himself for the NPP from the 1990’s and let it go off the 2007 elections at the University of Ghana to allow President Akufo-Addo to become their Flagbearer so he can say whatever he want to Alan Kyerematen.

“But coming November 4, 2023, the polling station executives would show him their powers in the ballot box why Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematethem is saying ‘EDURO ME SO”, opined Sarkodie.

The Welfare Of The Girl Child Is Dear To My Heart…Nana Akosua Larbi

The Mankrado Ankobeahema of Suhum in the Eastern region, Nana Akosua Korang Larbi on Friday, July 7, 2023 donated sanitary pads to over 500 girls in eight basic schools in the Suhum Municipality.

The idea is to imbide in the students the need to enhance personal hygiene among them.

The beneficiary schools are; Kokooso Aboabo Basic School in Gojiase, Roman Catholic Basic School, Presbyterian A,B,&C Basic School, Anglican A,B&C Basic School, S.D.A Basic School and M/A Basic School A,B&C.

The rest are, Methodist Basic School, and Presbyterian New Town Basic Basic School.

She went to the aforementioned Schools with a nurse to educate and teach the girls on how to use the pads and keep themselves neat during and after menstruation to help them stay healthy.

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Nana Akosua Korang Larbi stated, that the welfare of the girl child is her priority, hence the move to donated the sanitary pads to them.

Nana Korang Larbi said, this wouldn’t be nine day wonder because, according to her, she has a lot of things to offer the young girls in Suhum to better their standard of living.

She appealed to gov’t to consider the plight of the girl child and rescind its decision of taxing sanitary pads, since, for her, the management of menstruation,a natural cause, could not be handled to the disadvantage of the girl child.

” Menstruation is a natural cause and already most of them find it difficult to afford one when menstruating especially those in the villages and if being tax it would be a disaster for them”. She explained

After receiving the sanitary pads together with the exercise books, pens and toothpaste, some of the Gojiase Basic School students show their appreciation to the Mankrado Ankobeahemaa for the gift and also pleaded with the gov’t to not tax the sanitary pads which will eventually lead to increament of prices.

One of the teachers who wants to remain anonymous said, “sometimes they have to buy the girls sanitary pads when menstruating because that place is a village and money is scarce over there, so gov’t should listen to their cry and abort that decision”.

Meanwhile, the Obaahemaa for Suhum, Nana Arko Bensua also advice the female school children to focus much on their education and abstain from men to avoid any unwanted pregnancy.

“Because at this stage of menstruating, the possibility of getting pregnant is very high, so they shouldn’t allow themselves for any man to use money or mobile to deceive and get them pregnant and destroy their future”, she told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.

P.C.E Celebrates 175Th Anniversary Celebration

Hundreds of scores on Saturday, July 1, 2023 joined the Presbyterian College of Education in Akropong in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region to celebrate its 175th Anniversary Celebration.

Speaking at the program, the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Gifty Twum Ampofo said, research has proven, that, every country’s gross tertiary enrollment ratio has a lot to do with its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and teachers have a key role to play to ensure the economy is well grown.

“So, for the instructors and lecturers, ones they have this responsibility in mind and get so much committed to it, then we are sure, that the gross tertiary enrollment ratio would definitely goes high and when that happens the GDP of the country would also increase”, she noted.

Gifty Twum Ampofo, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region emphatically stated, that, if the economy does not do well it is not the economy or the finance minister but rather it is the teacher because the performance of the economy depends on the country’s gross tertiary enrollment ratio.

In addition, the Moderator for Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante noted, Colleges of Education are now offering degree programs and as at now their tuitors don’t know whether they should call themselves lectures or not thou they keep receiving school teachers salaries.

He prayed the gov’t to do something about it as soon as possible.

“I’m saying this because, we have had a situations where some of our tutors go get higher degrees and then they would be porched by the Universities which is not good at all and is big challenges confronting the colleges of Education and call on gov’t to stop them”, he fumed.

For his part, Senior Presidential staffer, Nana Yaw Osafo Marfo who represented President Akufo-Addo questioned about the level of indiscipline currently denting the image of Presbyterians compared to their era where disciplne was key to their success. On that score, he called for a review to help maintain disciplinary level of the institution

He furthered that, there is saying, all other professions can brag but a teacher taught them all and he find it to be true because he is who he is today because someone taught him how to read and right.

Nana Yaw Osafo Marfo continue to say, Teachers are the foundation of knowledge and civilization for the society and they must be taking good care of.

Meanwhile, the Principal for the Akropong Presbyterian College of Education, Rev.Dr. Nicholas Apreh Siaw indicate that, despite chopping some success, there are other challenges facing them and one of them is inadequate staff accommodation.

He also mention that, they need financial support to fence their lands because some people have resorted encroaching it.

Over 2,480 B.E.C.E Candidates Enroll Onto Baafi Special Classes Program

More than 2, 480 Basic Education Certificate Examination Candidates (BECE) in the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly of Eastern Region has been enrolled onto Michael Okyere Baafi special classes program.

The purpose of which the Member of Parliament for the constituency initiated the program is to help the candidates come out with good results.

Addressing the candidates at the Full Gospel Church International in Betom on Saturday, June 24, 2023, the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency, Michael Okyere Kofi Baafi who spearheaded the program challenge the the pupils acquire better grades after their examination.

He promised to reward a candidate who will obtain aggregate six to nine a laptop, school items and a drive when enroll to Senior High School to continue its education.

Okyere Baafi said, since the introduction of his special classes for the BECE in 2021, a lot of students had passed the exams and enrolled into high profile SHS in the country.

Thus, he charged the 2023 candidates to study hard to break the records being set by their seniors in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

The MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry distributed exercise books to all the 2,488 candidates.

They would embark on classes on Saturday, July 1, and assured of feed them till the classes is over.

This year’s B.E.C.E would commence in the month of August.

For her part, Lawyer Nana Adwoa Hackman Otchere-Darko who was the guest speaker, urged the candidates to study hard because in years to come, one quarter of works would be done by robots which indicates that human-being are going to loose their jobs.

“At this stage what they have to do is to have different skills and also obtain better grades so that should the robots takes over the works they would be an options and opportunities for them to get job doing”, she noted.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Assembly, Issac Appau Gyesi also advised the candidates to be discipline and focus on their learning materials, adding that once they do that it is possible God will help them to achieve their aim by passing the exams.

He revealed that, since the commencement of the MP’s special classes program for the candidates in his municipality, it has seen positive results unlike those days.
