The Heritage Christian University College in Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region collaborated with Lufthansa Group from Germany to climaxed the 2023 impact week in a grand style.

The School together with the Lufthansa Group from Germany and coaches from eight countries took the students through different skills to help them come out with different business strategies.

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Dennis Abbey, the Assistant Public Affairs for Heritage Christian University College explained that, the purpose of the program was to motivate their students to come out with skills and ideas that can be use to developed the country.

He stated that many students involved themselves in the 2022 first edition of the program and come with a lot of ideas that help to them to provide solutions to the challenges based on the topics they were given to work on it.

“In this year’s program, the students generated many ideas with solutions and the investors would analysis it and see which one they should go for that can help their businesses to grow and I believe that they would pick three or four out of the ideas presented by the students that would help the country’s development”, said Abbey.

“The students presented beautiful business ideas that should the leaders of this country support them financially they would be able to create jobs opportunity for those who are not working to also get job doing”, he added.

Dennis Abbey again said, the design thinking ideas of these young people can become a reality if only they are being supported financially to establish their own companies, because they will also employ workers to reduce the country’s unemployed rate.

Furthermore, some of the students who took take in the program commended the leaders of Heritage Christian University College for given them the opportunity to do a presentation in the midst of crowd and also exposing them to many business strategies that can change their lives after school.

The team that did presentation on farming also entreated the government to invest more in local farming to be able to produce more food for the country rather than spending almost 3 billion dollars on food importation whiles such money can be invested in their farm activities.

The Lawmaker for Fanteakwa Constituency in the Eastern Region, Kofi Okyere Agyekum has on Friday, November 10, 2023 commissioned the Akyem Hemang 500 seater capacity community center with an auxiliary facilities.

Speaking at the program, the MP said, the project form part of the New Patriotic Party’s government one million dollar per the constituency initiative under the auspices of the Middle Belt Development Authority.

Mr. Okyere Agyekum mentioned, Bososu Police Station, the refurbishment of Ahiamakyene market, Osino 10 seater W/C, Dwenase 10 seater gW/C, Ahiamakyene 10 seater W/C and amongst others projects were all funds by the Middle Belt Development Authority.

According to him after drawing an initial plan of the town hall with 400 -seater capacity he realized that the grounds could be used for other programs to generate income for the Assembly; hence its expansion to 500 capacity to be able to accommodate more people including the two other conference rooms where the Chiefs of Hemang can hold meetings.

He further argued that should four District Assemblies who had most of it projects completed and fully paid for, Fanteakwa South District can not be left out.

A development the MP expressed gratitude to leaders of Middle Belt Development Authority for championing such projects.

For her part, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Middle Belt Development Authority (MiDA) Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng noted that, the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa South, Kofi Okyere Agyekum have identified other places such as Abompe, Dwenase and Ahiamakyene and assures them of receiving their fair share of the national cake with such edifice to aid their development.

She added noting that President Akufo-Addo is committed to develop the rural areas by making available to them the aforementioned projects.

“Under the 1m dollars per Constituency initiative, Eastern Region alone has 997 projects which include markets, toilet facilities, town halls, water systems and they are working with the MPs when it comes to the projects implementations to identity projects that can help and benefit their constituents.”

Akyem Hemanghene, Osaberima Mmirrikisi Okasum Apori Atta complained bitterly about how illegal miners ( galamseyers) are destroying their lands and entreated the Fanteakwa South Police Command to be proactive in their work to get the offenders arrested.

This, he said, when the environment get destroyed irrespective of whatever investment they will made, it will be useless, indicating, he has been tag as anti mining but he is not perturbed because he wants things to be done in a rightful way.

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency in Eastern Region Lawyer Samuel Atta Kyea has stated that, for the first time in the history of Ghana, the country would be privileged to have an economist as its President.

According to him the NPP’s flagbearer elect – Dr. Bawumia who is being persistently accused of the country’s economic woes by the NDC will soon turn things around.

“But they shouldn’t worry because if someone is suffering from teeth pains it is not a tailor or carpenter who heals that person but rather it is the dentist, hence Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia is coming in 2025 as a President-elect to fix the challenges confronting our economy.”

The former Works and Housing Minister added that he is optimistic that Dr. Bawumia would defeat John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general because he [John Mahama] has nothing new to offer Ghanaians.

Lawyer Atta Kyea asserted this to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH whiles commenting on the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries held nationwide over the weekend where Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious.

The MP further said when the energy crisis hit Ghana under Mahama’s administration he couldn’t solve it but in the midst of COVID-19 and Russia, the Ukraine war, Dr. Bawumia supported President Akufo-Addo to fight it and also assisted him in implementing the Free Senior High School policy to give equal opportunity for every Ghanaian child to have access to education.

Atta Kyea used the occasion and entreated Ghanaians to remain focused and vote for Dr. Bawumia in 2024 because he is the only person who can transform Ghana and not the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama because they had nothing to offer.

Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong after touring some of the election centres in the Region expressed his satisfaction with the electioneering process.

He told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH that the main target of NPP is to break the eight and continue working hard to develop the country.

The newly flagbearer elect, Dr. Bawumia emerged victorious over Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

He polled 118210 votes, representing 61.47%, while his closest contender, Mr. Agyapong, polled 71,996 votes, representing 37.41%.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto, who came third had 1,459 votes, representing 0.76%, while Addai-Nimoh garnered 731 votes, representing 0.41%.

But for that Abuakwa South Constituency where the exercise was held at Experimental M/A Basic School, Dr. Bawumia managed to accumulate 503 votes as against Kennedy Agyapong’s 84 votes with Francis Addai Nimoh accumulating 2 votes while Dr. Afriyie Akoto had no vote.

For this reason, the flagbearer elect will lead the NPP into the 2024 general election where he will keenly contest the NDC’s led John Mahama.

Minister of Communication and Digitization, Ursula Owusu Ekuful has revealed that, all the Two thousand and sixteen (2016) cell sites across the country in the rural areas are going to be connected in June, 2024.

According to her, out of the aforementioned figure, Eastern Region had 90 of which 55 of them have been activated and the remaining 35 would also be connecting soon.

The Communication Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region said the program was under the auspices of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and they are doing a marvelous job.

She stated that it were the vision of government under President Akufo-Addo to extend cell site to every community across the breath and length of the country for them to have access to quality telecommunication network to do their daily activities.

Ursula Ekuful was speaking with Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during the commissioning of Awisa Community ICT Centre, Mofram Cell Site, Asuom Community ICT Centre, Twum Wusu cell site and Suhum Community ICT Centre all in the Eastern on Saturday, October 28,2023.

The Communication Minister added, that the government initiative of introduction the Girls In ICT program where they are training girls in the Basic Schools is to enable them to know how to operate computer, create websites and scratches on their own and make money from it.

“And they can’t learn all this important things in the communities that don’t have access to better internet connectivity; hence mounting the Cell sites in those rural areas to help them learn the ICT better to their future.”

Meanwhile the residents of Mofram and Twum Wusu were relief over the cell sites received.

They told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH that previously whenever they want to make phone calls they have to stand at a specific location though they had unstable network connection but to them, now that their cell site have been activated, they would have stress free to make their calls and also have access to the Internet as well.

This, they expressed their gratefulness to President Nana Addo and his Communication Minister for what they have done for them.

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency of Eastern Region, Gifity Twum Ampofo has in partnership with the Robb Foundation an NGO organised a four day Free health screening exercise for some selected communities in the municipal.

The beneficial communities include Old Tafo, Anyinasin, Etukurom and New Tafo all in the municipality.

The exercise which commenced on Wednesday, October 25, at Anyinasin is expected to end on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Etukurom.

Speaking to Kingdom News at Akyem Anyinasin where they begun the program, Gifty Twum Ampofo said, at least three thousands people from the aforementioned communities are expected to get screened after the exercise.

She stated, that this is general wellness and the screening would comply with the eyes, teeth, typhoid fever, high blood pressure, malaria and the breast to help complement the BREAST CANCER AWARENESS month.

The Abuakwa North Legislature who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education responsible for TVET added that, many people don’t like going to hospital to check their health status due to financial constraint that is why she embarked on such program to enable everyone in her constituency get screened.

For her part, Executive Director for Robb Foundation, Mavis Opoku Asantewaa said that during the screening they realize that the hypertension among the aged in Akyem Anyinasin were on the rise.

Saying that, hypertension is caused by the kind of food we eat, hence people must be careful about what they consume into their body especially the sulty and oil foods.

Some of the beneficiaries also show gratitude to their MP for thinking about their health and brought such an important program to their doorsteps.

More than Three Hundred women in Aburi in the Akuapem South Constituency of Eastern Region were on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 benefited from a Free Breast Cancer screening.

The program, held at the forecourt of Aburihene’s Palace, was organized by Barbara Sampana, the Women Organizer for Akuapem South Constituency on the ticket of NPP.

Nonetheless, a Typhoid Fever and Blood Pressure screening was also added as part of the exercise.

Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH speaking to Barbara Sampana, reminded that breast is a valued property of every women and therefore it calls for the need to take why tgood care of it.

“As a mother of the constituency, I am not happy about how breast cancer is taking many women into their early graves, so I saw the need to come up with this free breast cancer program to pave way for those who can’t go to hospital to examine theirs due to their busy schedules because early detection helps save lives”, she said.

According to the Women Organizer, she will ensure all patronizers who were detected having breast cancer would be given the necessary medical care for treatment.

On her part, Nana Awo Adwoa Amene, the Aburihemaa who was the guest of honor also express her concerns over the breast cancer which is becoming a cause to worry, hence, her involvement of the exercise.

She added that, once women contract breast cancer it becomes very difficult for them to breastfeed their babies.

Something, she said deemed significant for every woman to have a regular breast examination to prevent their breast from being chopped off.

Some beneficiaries of the screening exercise show their appreciation to the Akuapem South Constituency NPP’s Women Organizer for having women in the area at heart by putting together such program for them to be screened for Free.

The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Betty Nana Efua Krosby Mensah has recounted how this limited voter registration exercise is milking her money.

According to the Afram North Legislature, since the commencement of these registration exercise on September 12, 2023, she has spent One Hundred and Thirty-five Thousands Ghana CEDI’s (GH¢135,000.00) on transporting those who have turned eighteen years and above from their various communities around the Volta Lake to come to Donkorkrom to get their names captured.

She indicated, that as a mother for the constituency she can’t sit down unconcern for her constituents names not to be registered on the national voters’ register; hence the move.

Betty Mensah adds, most communities are surrounded by river and islands and this young boys and girls have to travel by canoe or ferry to Donkorkrom for the registration and sometimes they get there late and she has to feed and get them accommodation so that they can register the following day and return home, saying, the risk involve nobody have an idea about it.

She also noted that, most of the places in her constituency don’t have access to network, therefore she resulted embarking on a radio tour to announce [ Volta Starr Radio] the information to them and is very costing.

Due to the aforementioned challenges confronting them in the constituency, on August 23, 2023 the MP and the Assembly members held a press conference and pleaded with the Electoral Commission to rescind its decision of doing the limited voter registration exercise at their various District Offices across the country and extend it to the electoral areas so that everybody can be registered.

The Afram Plains North MP said, after their press conference, she followed up with a petition to the Electoral Commission and low and behold, on September 15 2023, she got a response from the EC’s Chairperson Jean Mensa that they recognize and acknowledge the challenges in the constituency.

“But unfortunately they said due to some situation beyond their control they [EC] wouldn’t be able to make additional provision for them.

“However , the Office of the EC assured her [MP] that next year 2024 they have plans of doing a mop up exercise for hard to reach areas such as Afram Plains North”, she added.

Betty Krosby Mensah then stated that, in as much as the Electoral Commission was working under some level of constraint and if we allow that constraint to prevent them from discharging their constitutionally mandated duty or work it wouldn’t go well for the democracy of this country.

This came to light when she was speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH.

She stressed, that EC have failed not only the people of Afram Plains North but the entire country in general as an institution, because she knows other constituencies that are also encountering same challenges and yet still they have to transport people to the EC’s offices to register their names.

“So the EC should fulfill its promise come 2024 and capture all those who have turned eighteen years on the national voters’ register to be able to cast their vote in the general elections”.

The Limited Voter Registration Exercise that commenced on September 12 is expected to come to an end on October 2, 2023.

“So far in Afram Plains North Constituency 800 to 900 people have been registered”, said the MP.

The Assistant Secretary for New Patriotic Party (NPP) in New Juaben North Constituency of Eastern Eastern, Richard Antwire has resigned from his position to join the race to contest the constituency’s Parliamentary seat.

According to him, their party have given directives that any constituency executive who eyes for the Parliamentary seat must vacate its position before the Parliamentary elections would be held; hence his resignation

Antwire reveals that he has served the New Patriotic Party in New Juaben North Constituency for over twenty years and if today their incumbent Member of Parliament, Nana Adjei Boateng says he is no more contesting the 2024 elections he saw it as an opportunity to replace him in Parliament.

“This Parliamentary elections is not about the money but rather is about the human relationship, hard work, dedication and the service to the constituents”, he said.

The New Juaben NPP Parliamentary hopeful was speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, indicating that anyone who wants to contest the parliamentary position shouldn’t wait till election period is due before doing projects for the constituents.

“Most aspirants have develop a tactics of doing one or two projects in the constituencies to deceive the constituents and is about time things must stop”, he stated.

Richard Antwire stressed, that such persons when being voted for, you won’t see them again unless the next elections.

“Hence; it is important for delegates to elect a leader who would always be there for them,listen to their challenges, confronting them, help address them and that visionary leader is Richard Antwire”, he noted.

He furthered by saying, before deciding to resign from his position as Assistant Secretary for the parliamentary slot, he consulted many people including his Constituency Chairman, Ernest Oti Akenteneg, Eastern Regional NPP executive led by Chairman Jeff Konadu Addo,other executives and have all given him the greenlight to go ahead and contest the New Juaben North Parliamentary Seat because he deserves it.

He adds, he has been the Constituency Communication Director for eight years, polling station executive for four years and one term Constituency Assistant Secretary so he is well known in the Constituency.

He ceased the opportunity and appeal to the delegates in the Constituency to vote him coming February, 2024 and would work tirelessly to transform New Juaben North.

Again, he noted that he served with all humility Hackman Owusu Agyeman, their former MP, and current MP, Nana Adjei Boateng to develop the Constituency.

“So if a time has come for Nana Adjei Boaten to bow out of the race then I deserve to wear his shoes to continue his good works”, added Richard Antwire.

The Eastern Regional Organizer for National Democratic Congress (NDC) Hackman Kabori has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of a deliberate intention to connive with the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to register minors in some selected constituencies in the Region, in respect to the ongoing limited Voter registration exercise.

Hackman Kabori said, that the Eastern Regional NDC leadership have gathered some information indicating that the NPP and the EC opted for the exercise to be conducted solely in the ECs district offices so that they can easily perpetrate such act.

He also revealed that, their intelligence on the ground suggest the NPP intend to undertake the said plan with the EC in six selected constituencies such as Adeiso, Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya, Nsawam, Suhum, Asuogyaman, and New Juaben South and North respectively .

Hence, he warned both EC and NPP, that their leadership in the region will resist any attempt should they try to mar or taint the electoral process and further subvert the will of the people in the 2024 general elections.

Hackman Kabori made this known when addressing NDC party members in the New Juaben North Constituency during ‘the New Juaben North Unity Walk with the Parliamentary Candidate, Samuel Adongo.

The Unity walk is to unite all the NDC members in the New Juaben North Constituency and also to create awareness of the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC in New Juaben North , Samuel Adongo urged their members as well as Ghanaians to partake in the ECs Limited Voter Registration Exercise.

He said even though the NDC and other political parties are challenging the ECs decision to conduct the exercise in their various district offices across the country , the decision of the court should not discourage people from registering should in case the judgement proves otherwise.

For his part, the Eastern Regional NDC Youth Organizer, Richard Nyarko Etornam popularly known in the political terrain as Bilibo described the current government as being insensitive towards the youth due to the introduction of numerous taxes particularly tax on betting.

For this reason, he entreated the youth to rise up, get registered and vote massively against the NPP government come elections the 2024.

A group calling itself the Concern Citizens Association of Osino (CCAO) in the Fanteakwa South District of Eastern Region has declared their intensions to summons the Osinohene, Osaberima Otu Darko IV before a competent court of jurisdiction.

The group are accusing the traditional ruler over what it described as ‘misappropriation of the community’s fund.’

According to the association’s Chairman, Dr. Kofi Agyarko Danquah they are demanding accountability from the Osinohene on how he uses a royalties worth GH¢667,044.00 being paid to the community by the Kibi Goldfields Mining Company Limited.

At a press conference on Friday, September 1, 2023, the Concern Citizens Association of Osino organized by one Osaberima Otu Darko, sought to meet the accused chief to render to them an account but through an unsigned letter assured to hold a crunch meeting between both parties today, Friday, September 8.

However, the association having convened in the early hours of the day at the Osino durbar grounds, Osaberima Darko IV failed to show up leaving the agitated youth go crazy.

Expressing their displeasure over the development to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Dr. Kofi Danquah, said they will resort to court since the accuse refused to honor his promises without any tangible reasons.

Meanwhile, a Royal member from the Asona Family, Opanin Appiah Osae on behalf of the Family perform a ritual by way of slaughtering a sheep and destooled Osaberima Otu Darko IV from holding himself as Osinohene.

According to him, Osaberima Darko IV, had disappointed the Royal family and the good people of Osino at large for his actions and inactions which amount disrespect.

“After destooling him, our Royal Family consist of three, would nominate another person to occupy the Osino stool,” added Opanin Osae.
