New Juaben South MP Pays ₵15,000.00 Hospital Bills For…

As part of his annual Christmas party for kids on admission at the Eastern Regional Hospital, the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Michael Okyere Kofi Baafi put smile on their faces by settling their hospital bills.

It comes after some of the children were discharged but their parents couldn’t paid the money and as a result they were stuck at the hospital for a very long time.

The MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry has paid GHS 15,000.00 hospital bills for those children who have been discharge to go home but are still at the hospital due to financial challenges confronting their parents.

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Okyere Baafi said, if God blesses you with something you also have to open your arms to reach the less privilege ones to release some stress of them, hence his kind gesture.

He adds, the innocent children need to be at home to celebrate the Christmas season with their colleagues and not at the hospital but because of the sickness they found themselves there thus those whom have been blessed by God can also do for them to make them happy.

Michael Okyere Baafi noted that the kidz ward party programme has come to stay.

He joined the caterers to serve the food.

In addition, the Medical Director for Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua, Dr. Akoto Ampaw commended the MP and his team for their kind gesture done to the children.

He stated that, such programmes help the kids a lot in the healing process because they will dance and enjoy themselves as well.

Dr. Ampaw again on behalf of the parents thanked Michael Okyere Baafi for paying the hospital bills for the children to be discharged to go home and enjoy the rest of the Christmas.

GOPDC Adjudged 2022 Best Eastern Regional Company.

The Ghana Oil Palm Development Company Ltd as an SOE has won the best Eastern Regional company award at the just ended Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and quality awards held on November 26, 2022 in Accra.

The AGI in collaboration with the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) together with the Trade and Industry Ministry organized such program to honour the efforts of companies that contribute massively to support the economy and nation building annually.

The GOPDC, an integrated Agro- industrial company is now fully owned by the SIAT GROUP an agricultural investment company of Belgium which operates in Cote D’Ivoire, Gabon, Cambodia,Ghana and Nigeria. The company leases two concessions from the gov’t of Ghana: GOPDC Kwae( 8954 ha) and GOPDC Okumaning (5075ha) both located at Kwaebibirem municipality and Denkyembour district respectively.

It has a total of 9,000 ha of oil palm planted in 2012, it diversified into rubber cultivation and has about 771 of rubber plantations in the uplands within its Kwae concession. It has over the years employed over 4000 workers during the peak season, produces over 35,000 tons of palm oil and palm kernel oil per annum.

GOPDC support the communities they operate in, not only through its business operations but through investment in education, health and the environment which are essential factors in socio-economic development in its catchment areas.

In education, it has instituted a scholarship scheme where students are chosen from the various communities and given scholarships to study at the tertiary levels. Again, in meeting the SDG 6, which is “accesss to water and sanitation for all” GOPDC has provided mechanized water system serving over 6,000 people in Kwae and other communities.

According to the Commercial Manager for the company, Mr. Charles Okyere Addo, “the award recognizes the hardwork their company has been offering to the country’s development over the past years and they are not going to rest on their oars.

Show Love In Difficult Times….Abuakwa North MP

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Gifty Twum Ampofo has admonished Ghanaians to show love to their neighbors in this difficulty time.

According to her, the global economic crisis has made things very difficult for many people to get money to purchase foodstuffs for their various families for the Christmas festive.

As part of her yearly donation of food items, the MP who doubles as the deputy minister for education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) donated foodstuffs to over 35,000 aged and youth who are above 18yrs in her constituency to let them feel and enjoy the Christmas, meanwhile in 2021 she fed over 17,000 constituents.

According to Gift Twum Ampofo doing developmental projects alone for the people will make them have the notion that they have not benefitted from the NPP government.

Thus, she thought it wise to give her constituents foodstuffs to enable them recognize their effort and also put smile on their faces.

She added that, the purpose behind this donations is to show her constituents love to enable them know how cherish they’re to her.

She further appealed to Ghanaian traders especially those from her constituency to reduce their items for people to patronize them in this period of the economic hardship.

Gifty Ampofo continue by noting that whiles fuel and lorry prices shot up, there was hike in commodities as well however now that fuel and lorry prices have been reduced traders should do justice to Ghanaians and reduce the prices of their goods.

Notwithstanding, some beneficiaries showers praises on their MP for the love shown them and asked for her God’s blessings and protection.

New Juaben South MP Support The Aged With His ‘ Free Shop And Go’ Programme

At least thousands of hundreds of aged in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region has benefited from their Member of Parliament’s free ‘shop and go’ programme.

The MP provided foodstuffs, meat, materials, eggs, oil and give ₵150.00 coupon to every aged to use it for the shopping. He also gave them free health screening.

It took place at Ascension Presbyterian school park in Koforidua on Saturday, December 24, 2022.

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency, Michael Okyere Kofi Baafi told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH that, this is what every good citizen must do to support the aged in the communities to put smile on their faces.

He added that, his mother died 25 years ago and if she is alive she will attained 75yrs. But now that she is not alive, he have to do it for this aged because they are important to him.

Michael Okyere Kofi Baafi joined the sellers to sell the foodstuffs to the aged.

Okyere Kofi Baafi who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry said, to release some stress of his constituents during the economic crisis amidst the Christmas festival he has provided Metro Mass buses to convey them to their various destinations for free untill the end of the year 2022.

Some beneficiary were grateful to their MP for remembering them in this crucial time because this is the first of it kind to have such experience in their lives.

Furthermore, the Women’s Organiser for New Juaben South Constituency, Regina Bempong commended her MP for such programme.

She said that, the Women’s wing of the constituency will also dine with the aged ( Women) and present gift to them come 30th December, 2022, to enable them know how cherish they’re to them.

Cervical Cancer On The Rise Akuapem…MP Fumes

Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei,MP- Akuapem North Constituency.

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei has expressed worried over the rate at which some women are contracting cervical cancer in the area.

According to the MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, research has revealed that, cervical cancer is on the rise among many women living in Akuapem North and South constituency respectively therefore something need to be done about it.

However, she asked the leaders of Akuapem North Health Directorate to get her a proposal letter to use her outfit to go and look for a sponsorship and partner them to come and do free health screening exercise for the women in the constituency to reduce the menace.

Nana Dokua Asiamah-Adjei mention this on Friday, December 23, 2022 at her residency in Akropong when she met Nurses and Midwives in the area to discuss with them about how they will continue to provide quality healthcare delivery in the constituency to save more lives.

In the opening remark of the meeting by the Deputy Director for Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital-Mampong in charge of Nurses Services, Ernsetina Anim appealed to the MP to get them bus that will convey them to programmes.

In response to that, Nana Ama Dokua said, there are over 300 communities in her constituency and some are hard to reach areas but the nurses and midwives are there working to save lives and if they get the bus it will help their work.

She assured them of getting them the bus so that they can discharge their duties accordingly.

Amidst the Christmas festivity, she presented some gifts to the health workers and wish them well to continue serving mother Ghana with quality healthcare delivery especially her people of Akuapem North.

We Want To Reduce Maternal Mortality…GRNMA

The Eastern Regional Branch of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association has said, they have put in place measures to reduce the maternal death rate in the region.

To the association, it is very worrying to loose both pregnant mother and her child or to save one and loose one in the cause of delivering because every live matters.

The Chairman for Eastern Regional Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwifes Association (GRNMA), Rev. Hayford Laryea said, they are going to write proposal letters to institutions and philanthropists to support them with some funds so that they can use it to purchase equipments that can be use to check or detect whether the baby is in a good condition in her mother’s womb or not.

Rev. Hayford Laryea told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH during their 4th quarter Regional Council meeting held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at their Regional Secretariat in Koforidua.

He added that, he is of the firm believe that coming 2023 if they get financial support from institutions and philanthropists to buy the requisite equipments, he is adamant more lives would be saved and the maternal mortality would be reduced drastically in the region.

He continue to say, their salaries is nothing to write home about and in 2023 budget government has increased income tax to 35%, meaning 35% of their basic salary will go into income tax which doesn’t sound well.

Rev. Hayford fumed, the 15% COLA would be abolished after the December 2022 and government is unreluctant to increase the 18% base pay.

“At first the disease people fear most was HIV/ AIDS but along the line COVID 19 also hit the entire world and it became hard for people to go outside but they worked 24/7 by ensuring lives are being saved. So President Akufo Addo should listen to their plea and do something about the 18% base pay,” he stressed.

Finally, he send his Goodwill Christmas message to all hardworking Ghanaian nurses and Midwives especially those in the Eastern Region for their massive contributions towards the country’s development.

He promised them that, the leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwifes Association (GRNMA) will continue to fight for their well-being to make sure they get what is due them.

Don’t Rely On Gov’t For Jobs…Graduands Told

The Founding President and for Heritage Christian University College in Amasaman, Dr. Samuel Twumasi Ankrah has urged graduands in the country not to refrain from being overreliance on gov’t for jobs.

He submitted to them that, the current socio-economic reality is such that the government has no jobs to offer all persons including thousands of people who graduate yearly.

The Heritage Christian University College President furthered by adding that there is only a minute chance for graduates to get employment from the private sector, so the present and future state of job acquisition looks bleak.

Dr. Twumasi Ankrah made this known at the 4th Graduation and 21st Commissioning Ceremony of Heritage Bible Institute where 190 students comprises of 87 Christian College Bachelor’s degrees and 103 Heritage Bible Institute students graduated.

The ceremony was held at the school’s premises at Amasaman on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

The programme was celebrated under the Theme:” Entrepreneurship: A Solution to Economic Security in Africa. He then entreated the graduands to take the mantle in their hands and do something for themselves to become jobless.

On his part, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, a businessman, who was the guest speaker of the programme also advised the graduands to take advantage of opportunities because entrepreneurship is all about innovation and he noted that innovation does not end right from old age till date.

He added that, unfortunately, many people are of the view that, entrepreneurship is reserved for people who opted for a formal system of education and that notion/idea is completely wrong. Because everybody can venture into entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the Council for Heritage Christian University College, Samuel Kumi Ayim also appealed to gov’t and their regulatory bodies to provide enabling environment to assist institutions like HCUC to continue to provide valuable service in the area of quality education and employment.

He used the opportunity to remind the graduands that, the day serves as a reflection on whom they want to become and the contribution they need to make to society as they step out into the world in humility and responsibility.

Asante Juabenhene’s Son Grabbed Overall Best National Farmer

The Chief Executive Officer for Siriboe Farms Limited, Nana Yaw Sarpong Siriboe, the son of Asante Juabenhene who doubles as the Chairman for Council of State, Daasbre Otuo Serebour has been ajudged the overall National best Farmer for the year 2022.

The 43yr old Nana Sarpong Siriboe married with 4 children was rewarded with an amount of GHS1M.

He has 145 workers which comprises of 20 employees and 125 casual workers. All his farms are in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region.

He has 900 acres of oil palm, 63 acres of citrus, 65 acres of Cocoa, 37 acres of Cassava, 17 acres of mango, 30 acres of Cashew, and 240 acres of maize etc.

Additionally, he also has 17,500 poultry birds, 72 sheeps, 256 cattles, 441 goats, 264 pigs and 7,000 snails just to mention a few. He was the 2021 1st runner up best National Farmer.

After being crowned as the overall best 2022 National Farmer, on behalf of the other 14 awardees, thanked President Akufo Addo for implementing so many policies in the Agriculture sector to improve the standard of living of the Ghanaian farmers.

Furthermore, President Akufo Addo commended the hardworking Ghanaian for their massive contributions towards the country’s development.

He went further to appeal to Ghanaians to accept the 2023 budget and economic policy because the fiscal policies in it will him to achieve the measures put in place by his NPP government to fight against the current economic hardship.

General Supt Of Savoir Church Of Ghana Crowned 2022 National Best Crop Farmer

Opanyin Abraham Adusei, General Supt. , Savior Church of Ghana.

The General Superintendent of Savior Church of Ghana, Opanyin Abraham Adusei has been ajudged as the best National Crop Farmer of the 38th edition of the 2022 National Farmers day celebration.

He went home with a hopping amount worth GHS125,000.00.

Agriculture Development Bank gave him GHS100,000.00 and Ghana Cocoa Board also gave him GHS25,000.00 making it GHS125,000.00

Speaking to Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH, Opanyin Abraham Kwaku Adusei who won the national best Cocoa farmer in 2013 said he is very excited for grabbing another award in 9yrs later and described it as new venture and big achievement for him.

He added that, farmers need financial support to expand their farm to produce more foodstuffs to the country.

Opanyin Kwaku Adusei further appealed to government to do irrigation project for the farmers who farm at Afram Plains and it environs.

According to him, farmers at the Afram Plains have to depend on whether condition before their farm crops can grow well and because of that they can’t achieve what they wished for amdist producing enough food for the country.

Alhaji Umar Babs Kofi Bodinga, MCE- ANMA.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Babs Kofi Bodinga has donated 100 bags of cement to support the completion of the abandoned Eastern Regional Islamic educational Secretariat unit’s two storey building office in the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly.

Speaking to Kingdom News, the Abuakwa North MCE said, two weeks ago, the delegation from the regional Islamic educational secretariat paid him a courtesy visit in his office asking him to help them with building materials to be used to complete their Secretariat because it’s deteriorating.

Alhaji Umar Bodinga adds, after their visit, their plea touches his heart and saw the need to support them with the 100 bags of cements and stated that the education of Ghanaian children is very paramount to him, hence his support.

The MCE told Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH that, he will continue to support the secretariat till its completion.

He noted that, the facility when completed, will help the executives council members of the secretariat to discharge their duties accordingly.

Furthermore, the Council Chairman for Eastern Regional Islamic Educational Secretariat, Kasem Tijani Rahman told KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH that, they started the project in 2010 but it got to a point they couldn’t continue due to the lack of funds to complete it.

On behalf of the regional Islamic Educational secretarial council, thanked the MCE for his kind gesture and called on the general public to come to their aid, because they need sand, iron rods, gravels etc to complete the project.
