The Election Committee of the Eastern Regional New Patriotic Party’s executive election, scheduled for August 15, 2026, has cleared 27 aspirants contesting various positions within the party.
These aspirants are Lawyer Barima Sarpong Asiedu Larbi, vying for the regional Secretary position; Regina Bempong, contesting the regional Women’s Organizer position; Khalil Abdallah Saleh, contesting for the regional Nasara Organizer position; among 24 others.
Speaking to Journalists after the successful vetting at the Party’s office in Koforidua on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Lawyer Barima Asiedu Larbi outlined some challenges confronting members of the party in the region.
Some of these problems, he said, include how to protect the sitting Members of Parliament, how to reconcile with the members after losing an election, and how to retain the members of the party.
According to Lawyer Barima Asiedu Larbi, these are the contributory factors that caused the party to lose some of its Parliamentary seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region.
He assured them that when elected to become the next Secretary of the region, he would put in place measures to address all those challenges to ensure stability in the party.
The Women’s Organizer hopeful, Regina Bempong, also added that empowering the Women’s wing in the party is one of her main objectives to enable them to build self-confidence to engage in active politics and campaign for the party to win the 2028 general election.
For his part, the aspiring Nasara Organizer, Khalil Abdallah Saleh, noted that he is poised to work with the Zongo communities across the region to mobilize them to vote for the NPP in 2028.
The Director of Elections and Research of the Eastern Regional NPP Executive election, David Prah, commended all the aspirants for their incredible performance when vetting them, and indicated that this demonstrates their readiness to recapture power for the NPP come 2028.
He revealed that their election would take place at Asamankese, and 714 delegates are expected to take part in this important exercise to elect new executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
