The Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asuogyaman Constituency of the Eastern Region, Dr. Godfred Akyea-Darkwah has spoken for the first time on how he had a car crash after a returning from a journey from the Party Head Office, Accra to Asuogyaman on May 4,2020

According to him, he had been at the party’s head office for meeting and other engagements from 7:30 am till leaving Spinters at 6pm and on his return from Accra around 8pm back to his constituency met his untimely fatal crash which one can’t escape death except by God’s devine protection .
Dr. Akyea-Darkwah said, on that date all the NPP orphan constituencies Chairmen were asked to come to the head office for their 2020 general elections campaign logistics and plans.

After leaving Accra for Asuogyaman and between Doryimu and Asutuare junction he unexpectedly run into a parked 14 wheel China made tipper track loaded with quarry stones, in the middle of the road, unattended with no roads warning sign even leafs . He then realized that he had been involved in a road crash after 32yrs of continuous driving and the first time involved in a crash.

“I managed to get out from my Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and crawled to the other shoulder of the road. In about 30mins there was no passing vehicle and this happened in the night at about 10:30pm. Later on, I heard the voice of two men coming from the bush and saying everyone is dead,’ he narrated.
“So I shouted, I am not dead! am here!. Blood oozing out from my head. I then called my DCE to ask for an ambulance service to come to my aid. I was therefore rushed to the VRA Hospital in Akosombo where the Hospital offered their best services courtesy Dr. Mrs. Acquaa- Arhin and her team and the next day transferred me to St. Joseph Orthopedic Hospital in Koforidua, Effiduase for further treatment,’ he said.

Dr. Godfred Akyea-Darkwah indicated that, the doctors of St. Joseph Hospital conducted first and second surgeries to fix and re-fix the multiple fractured femur.
“I have done two surgeries, the first surgery was originally done to fix the fracture. In less than 3 months, a private therapist from Accra, Adenta came to massage the tighs so hard such that she broke again the implants and femur warranting second surgery within 3 months and that has caused him to be at the Hospital till today,’he added.
” I have done two surgeries at my right tigh with it attendant high cost of medical treatment, accommodation, upkeep, pain and suffering, not forgetting loss of income being borne by myself and few friends and siblings. I have spent a lot and yet to receive support from the Party National Executives. I have been at the Hospital from May 4, 2020 till today August 13, 2020 and I will continue to be here for the next 4 months. In addition, the first 3 months is already wasted and hope to be completely healed medically by the next 6 months”.

Dr. Akyea-Darkwa highly commended and firstly thanked the Omanhene of Akwamu Traditional Area, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Queen Mother Afrakoma II, Chiefs and Elders of Akwamu State who came into my immediate support in my greatest time of need.
‘About my Party, the NPP Eastern Regional Executives gave me an initial support and the Regional Minister Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour housed me for a while and he is ready to do so when I am discharged this time again. But I still hope to hear from the Presidency, the National Executives of the party and the region for restitution and their continuous support whilst at the hospital and thereafter,’ stressed Dr. Akyea-Darkwah.
