Security at New Tafo Cocoa Research Institute in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region have on Friday 14th August, 2020 at around 8pm arrested a man who claims to be thirty years old (30yrs) and a casual worker for the institution for allegedly stealing palm fruits from their plantation.

The yet to be named alleged thief and his accomplice who was able to escape were being monitored by the security intelligence unit of Cocoa Research Institute as they began their thievery process in the early hours of Friday.
According to a security personnel who spoke in anonymity with Nana Kwasi Asare, they laid ambush in the plantation waiting for the suspects to come for their booty and had one suspect apprehended around 8pm whilst the other escaped into the bush as they(suspects) finished loading the Opel Astra Caravan full of the palm fruits.
The driver of the Opel Astra Caravan and the suspect have been handed to the Akyem Tafo District Police for further investigations and prosecution.

The security service of the Cocoa Research Institute therefore, sends strong signals to the general public especially those who have planned to steal from the facility to desist since they (security) are well resourced to take action.
